Well, that's impressive. It'll be even more impressive if the numbers are still high in 2 months.
But how does one define "active" players in a week old game? I would think it's the exact same thing as "accounts created" at this point. And in a F2P game, that's the same old spin on populations that only gets bigger as time goes on even if the truly active populations plummets.
Nearly twice as many active players as FFXIV has ever had, and that runs in more regions (in before someone spouts the misleading "registered players" number)

That's actually pretty impressive.
B&S is F2P, though, so that is something to take into consideration.

Point to me on this doll where Naoki Yoshida touched you.
Knowing NCsoft i bet they counted the players in wait line to. And just about everyone who ever made an account. Lost of thw game is still missing. going this road it will be dead in 3 months. We will see what happens when the peeps who bought the 5$ pack to the skip the wait lines run out.
They tried the "fake" wait line with wildstar and added new servers just to merge them again/ What exactly was the last game from them that eh worked. Lineage 2, that's a long time ago....
Donno who came up with the idea for this "EZ mode" leveling neither. The faster peeps hit max the faster they leave. Guess anything born after 1990 like to sit behind their pc clicking the mouse with one hand and beer and mobile phone in the other, so they can max out in 2 days.
Oh btw Wildstar had a million in the first week. just in case.. :surprised:
B.T.W. just logged in. And let me tell u i think they count gold seller as "active" player's to, i cant read enything in chat. except 50 GOLD FOR 95 DOLLAH

That's complete BS of course.
A sub game only ever reports active subscriptions at a given moment. I'm sure if FFXIV:ARR listed all the sub accounts created since launch, they'd probably be heading for 5 million by now...
Once you register to download a F2P game, you become part of the registered players. WoT claims over 70 million registered players by now.
As for "active" players, I'd guess they're marking anyone that registered in the first week as "active". I doubt you'll ever see an "active player" number ever again. Only mega-games like Lol dare report on daily unique logins, because they have the staggering stats.
I'd say that makes sense, B&S has been expected for so many years by a lot of people (myself included).
However, after the hype and excitement dies down a bit, there really isn't all THAT much there imo. But I expect 2-3 months of fun before that happens!
This is the type of thread that crystal ball doom sayers love to see. Despite the good news, this thread will be full of MMO psychics predicting its imminent demise. They should charge by the hour lol
One million players tried the game. Let's see in a few months for the "active" word.
They'd be extremely lucky to have 100k after a month. It's always disapointing when MMOs fail, regardless of whether I like them or not, but I just don't see BnS maintaining a large population for very long. Hopefully I'm proven wrong, but I doubt I'll still be playing regardless.
Are you guys bashing it because that is the cool thing to do, or are you upset that you have to be actively engaged in playing it unlike most mmorpgs? I feel people don't enjoy the game from it being more complex than 1,2,3 repeat. Which isn't a bad thing if that isn't for you. The game has a fair cash shop which allows you to level faster but not progress end game or interfere with pvp. Yes there are queues for a highly anticipated f2p game but if you buy the premium, which supports the game, you get in within a minute on most servers.
Can someone actually explain your real complaints with the game so I can understand the cynicism? Btw, I have reached the current max level of 45 on an assassin.
I tried it out...and reasonably enjoyed playing an assassin for a while...but yesterday I had hours and hours of free time just dicking around. Not once was I tempted to open the game up to play it.

It's the nature of many MMO players. They just love to hate on games. It's like the in-thing to do or something. I don't understand it myself. Perhaps pessimists outnumber optimists by that much, or maybe they are just the loudest. It doesn't take a Nostradamus to predict that this type of game won't be as popular in the future as it is at launch, yet many will repeat the obvious. In 2-3 months BnS will not only be competing with Black Dessert but with any new shiny that is dropped into this overly saturated MMO market. We should all be thankful that there is, at least, something new to play in the meantime and if its not for you, then ignore it and wait till one is dropped that you do like. I guess that's asking too much. Apparently for some, the urge to bash a game is just to great to resist. Sad.

That says enough about the game to me.
