it lacks story and depth. I feel for none of the characters and am not interested in finding Jinsuyon. AT

This game has 2 things going for it, combat and graphics, at times. Other then that, it's an old, generic, Korean mmo.

What else is there to say?
Well that's not exactly true. It is all about story. It's not lacking one bit of story.

You might not like it or like how they did it but that doesn't mean there isn't one big giant story sitting down in the middle of this game.

As far as depth, well that is subjective and it also depends on what type of story is being told.

This seems to be more of a take on any particular story where the master is killed and the student strives for revenge. Heck, it's very similar to that Bioware game jade empire where somenone in a martial arts training camp betrays them all and you go and exact revenge . Maybe this is based on a recurring chinese story or fable, so there is only going to be "so much depth".

As far as "generic korean game" it is so far from a generic korean game as to not even be similar.

I'm not saying this is the greatest thing since sliced bread but if you are going to leverage criticisms they should at least hit the mark.

I heard a few people say it has nice story. Kinda tried it for that reason. Snorefest for 13 levels, can't get into it... my 2 cents on the matter.

There has to be something seriously wrong with someone who keeps bringing up FFXIV on the threads of other games just so they can bash it.

    Congratulations Blade and Soul.

More than half are gold sellers and more than half of the rest are "lolicon"....i don't know what to think...

Nearly twice as many active players as FFXIV has ever had, and that runs in more regions (in before someone spouts the misleading "registered players" number)

    That's actually pretty impressive.

Your actually comparing a free game with no sub to a game you have to pay for then keep a sub going?  More people are on welfare than have country club memberships too.  I think you need to find another game to compare it to.

well that is nice, but how long was it in your system?

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I had apple turnovers and they remain in my system longer than most of these over hyped games last on HD's.

As FFXIV:ARR has managed to sell over 4m copies of the game though, if the retention is really that low, then it doesn't bode well for B&S, because 1m vs 4m, and if 4m = 600k, then 1m = 150k, just saying. But we all know the figures you quoted are, a tad unrealistic, and this isn't really about FFXIV:ARR in any case, and the figures you base your data on date back to october of 2014.
FFXIV has been on sale since day 1 almost, it was 50% off on steam on launch, it's been on humble bundle many times.  FFXI was full price for most of its life, XIV sold trash bin prices most of its life.

It also had cosmetics you could only get by buying another copy of the game (the recruit a friend joke, which actually was just getting people to buy multiple copies of the game for the mounts).

It's also packed with RMT that continually buy the game again cheap due to tri-monthly bannings.

    It's all padding.

People have this mindset that XIV is a success when it's way down the list in terms of that, way, way down.

Blade and Soul is doing a lot better than I thought it would, at least they are giving active player numbers instead of flat out misleading.  I respect a company that does that, even if I'm not a fan of the game.
Bullshit.  FFXIV: ARR was sold out for almost the entire first month it was out, and was still full price for at least the next six months when I purchased the game.  Stop spreading nonsense.

It's a great number but hardly one that you should take with any seriousness given it's F2P and new.  The real test will be after the content is digested, if those players stick with the game for more than 6 months, and how these numbers fair after couple more fantasy MMORPGs release, the first of which (iirc) is Black Desert Online, which IMO offers a far more immersive experience.

It's the nature of many MMO players.  They just love to hate on games.  It's like the in-thing to do or something.  I don't understand it myself.  Perhaps pessimists outnumber optimists by that much, or maybe they are just the loudest.  It doesn't take a Nostradamus to predict that this type of game won't be as popular in the future as it is at launch, yet many will repeat the obvious.
Which is why, despite the press release by NCSoft, it's not really newsworthy..

I haven't played the game and so won't comment on its merits.  However, these types of announcements are a dog and pony show, at best, so soon after launch.  I doubt many of the cynical posts here are from folks who truly dislike the game enough to post, but rather from folks who tire of seeing, quite frankly, lukewarm numbers touted as something incredible through wordsmithing.

When you consider that, by the most in-depth estimates, a 12 year old, mandatory subscription-based game kept roughly 300,000 subs last year, or that a 3 year old, mandatory subscription game was estimated at 800,000 or more subscriptions middle of 2015, 1 million F2P accounts doesn't seem like an incredible feat so much as the obligatory "wut's this, m8?" surge that most MMORPGs enjoy.

Again, that's not to say that the game is good or bad (I have no idea, personally), just that these types of announcements are making mountains out of mole hills.

Why does reporting a mile stone number have to be construed as a dog and pony show.  Its just standard procedure in almost any industry to report the "(blank) customers served" type announcements.  Only the jaded customer would construe that to be a dog and pony show.  When you own a business, especially a consumer driven business, you put out any, and as much, information as you can to garner press reporting thereby drawing attention to your business.  Its more commonly known as advertising.  Advertising is one of the biggest expenditures/investments, outside of personnel, that any business will make.  As a matter of fact, this game website wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the advertising dollar.  Businesses will make any announcement possible to garner them additional exposure.  That's just smart business sense and nothing out of the ordinary.

Well yeah.. when u pay more then half of twitch streamers to promote your game .. not that hard to reach 1mil. If the game was a one time payment whit cashshop offering only cosmetics , i wouldn't of had an issue BUT when u are forced to pay to unlock your inventory slots... + allot more ... no thanks! I played for like 2 hours and i honestly was having issues managing my space... and NO , i ain't going to pay money to have my inventory slots unlocked in a 2016 mmo gaming market.

Meh.  I'm done already.  I like the asian-flavoured theme, but the PVE game is tired and a touch ugly, PVP is essentially limited to a 1v1 that feels, (to me, at least) kinda pointless, and dungeons--the staple of any mmo--are a cluster#*% without defined roles.

Also, bashing FF14 is just wildly misguided.  I would contend that it's the most complete and relevant mmo we have atm, as evidenced by still-growing numbers despite having a monthly sub.  If you haven't tried it in a while, go back.  You'll be amazed, I think, and games like B&S will feel...flimsy...by comparison.

    Just my opinion, of course.

They have every right to report anything they see as a milestone number worth reporting; I won't argue with that.  However, some folks are going to criticize numbers such as this.

NCSoft probably doesn't care either way; any publicity is good publicity.  But I was just trying to make sense of the cynical posts.

Because of this guy , and the guys alike , this site has become a troll site and not healthy for the MMO gender.

First of , how the fuck do you say there are 900k gold seller accounts? And you are not the only one saying something like that in this thread.
If you played the game, you will see shouts from the same SEVERAL accounts , about gold.
I am lvl 30 and I only saw 2 bots once.

So before you start bashing BnS , because X reasons, at least, COMMON sense man! ..

It's ok to have an opinion, as long as you know it's wrong.  It's not growing at all, registered players is not the same thing as subscribers.

Unless you're impressed that World of Warcraft has 100 million registered players of course, if you say XIV is growing them every single mmo ever made is growing too.

I will gladly do that when you start paying for my subscription to FF14.  Until then I will keep playing BnS for free, thank you.  In other words, there is a reason why FF14 is a subscription based game and BnS isn't.

Why do you dislike FFXIV so much? It's kind of pathetic how much you drone on about a game you don't seem to like.

Also, Blade&Soul arena PVP is so good.
