Ahh thanks for the clarification. Definitely getting this if its anything like Mass Effect. Thanks for the comparison and explanation.
It is nothing like Mass Effect. I'm not sure how people are making that claim.
Cover system, no jump, bullet sponge enemies, etc.

    Are you serious?
Are you seriously saying that is all it takes for it to be similar to Mass Effect? I'm not even sure how The Division is like MGSV. Just because a game shares a few things doesn't mean they are anything alike.
So if they both take cover, enemies are the same difficulty type, can't jump in either game, etc. Deos not make it anything alike?

So mass effect has NO cover. NONE. You CAN jump in mass effect. JUMP. You do NOT use, CERTAIN,  skills similar to The Division.  /sarcasm

    No, your right, nothing alike.

Ones an off line single player rpg(with online multiplayer) and the other is an mmotps.

Both play pretty much the same.

Edit - MGSV has the same cover system and also cannot jump either.

How do you not see this at all? Is this your first game ever?

Are all cover based shooters Mass Effect clones now?  Idk maybe he spammed space bar through the whole game or something..
Or gears of War clones and Metal Gear clones and Defiance clones etc.

I think you are missing my point. I can see they share those very few things but the GAMES are nothing alike. The combat system may be similar but overall they are completely different. How can you tell someone a game is like Mass Effect simply because you can't jump?

If you told me a game is like Mass Effect I would expect companions, romance, dialogue options for my character, morale choices, party based combat, different outcomes for quests etc. The Division has none of this. You are misleading people by saying they are alike.

Didnt read you're post at all because I know where your going with it.

Let me clarify, NOWHERE did I say they are both MMO's or the same GENRE of game.

Someone asked what gameplay was like, how do you move, how do you take cover?

MGSV, ME, Defiance and Gears of War, HONESTLY, best explains the cover system and bullet sponge enemies as well as having no jump.

They did NOT ask me if it was an mmo, fps, mmfps, rts, or mmotps. They never asked the genre either.

They wanted a compairison of how it played handeling your character or "toon" as the kids call it.

I think you're either reading too much into this or you're honestly trying to start a fight over something so stupid.

I think it's time for you to re read my comments.

Now, as someone mentioned, and I saw this too, there is a K9 unit in our base, added later im sure, so the thought of having a companion might not be that far off. A dog I mean.

If someone say's, "How does the game play, I know the story but, how does it work, combat I mean"?

I point them right to MGSV, ME, GoW, and Defiance. Maybe Ghost Recon online is the best example but, there all the same system almost.

Someone said it was like the PC version of Destiny. You responded with It's like Mass Effect, Defiance and MGSV. Then someone asked if the game is like Mass Effect. I didn't see anything mentioning gameplay specifically.

I'm not starting anything, it's simply a discussion. Someone could read all this and come anyway thinking the games are alike when they simply aren't. Only a few things are similar. I simply wanted to state that.

I swear to god, you are the only one making a big deal out of this.

    =============================================

    Here, i'll clarify, again,

"It plays like ME, MGSV, GoW, and Defiance. Now, i'm going to assume people here has at least seen commercials or trailers or gameplay videos for these game. Now, all of those have different story's. Different times and dates in history(fiction or not). They all have different themes. They are not the same games. Now, be smart, what do they all have in common? No jump, cover combat, sponge enemies, crafting, etc. Now, if you're here on MMORPG.com, obviously you know video games. If you're over 25, you know and have at least seen footage of all games listed. So I feel I don't have to explain in great detail as it makes some users here feel like their being belittled. This was my point."

    ============================================

Better? I was assuming people here got the gist of it. Obviously MGSV and ME are completely different.

By fighting with me, it's almost as if you're calling people here stupid. I highly doubt people thing MGSV is a space opera or that there are Metal Gears in SanFrancisco in Defiance.

Now we both look like assholes.

I made a deal out of it so some people aren't mislead. I helped paint a clearer picture. Playing like a game is a very broad statement and can be taken a number of ways, which does happen.

Yeah, not worth the money, with the barren world and rock stupid AI, either.

And no, I don't believe in miracle patches.

Maybe sometime down the line when it sells for $20 and not $60....

When I explained it to my cousin after playing the beta the first day, I told him it was a mix between Gears of War and Destiny.  It still kind of is.

The AI is actually really good, unlike what burntvet said.  They take cover pretty well, and they can tell when you're trained on them which aids them in taking cover.  Very rarely will they stand there when grenades land.  They move like a player does.   They also utilize some decent team aspects too.  When you're outnumbered in many cases (terrain permitting) they'll surround you.  This happened to me multiple times last night in the dark zone.

I paid for the Gold version... the survival modes sound like a lot of fun and it will be worth it.  The game is crazy fun, and thats all that matters.   I'd prefer to play it than be one of those that complains all the time.

I've played too many games these past many years, and this one was on my radar,  the only disappointing thing (aside from the minor bugs) is all of the features we weren't allowed to test in the beta.

Most people complain that there aren't a lot of mobs, but if you equp the scanner you find many more of them, and its absolutely necessary to have one team member use it in the dark zone.

    Great, great game.

    Yeah, no.

The AI is about as reactive is a cow turd.

Go straight at and up the middle against the AI every time = win.

They do NOT react well, and will stand there getting shot.

So, no... the AI sucks ass.

AI seems fine to me.  I'm willing to bet a lot of mob spawns may have been turned off.  Every subway system was devoid of mobs.  There were zero mobs indoors, outside of a few missions.  Meaning, no looters inside an apartment.  Well, I partially take that back, as there are some looter mobs inside stores.  And quite frankly, if there is enough pressure by players, they will add new spawns and increase the mob density.  I think they want to be careful not to make the world around you feel like every street is filled with someone who wants to kill you.

I was going to purchases this, but after watching a friend play beta its incredibly boring. Grind for loot that doesn't really have that much of an effect. There is litterally nothing to do except kill people and kill pve mobs. I forsee this being another destiny/battlefront
I was taking you seriously till I realized for the billionth time, this beta is 10% of the game. Only one main mission, 3 -4 sides and dark zone.

Did you really think they would give us the entire game? Did you think you were seeing everything the game has to offer?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Go watch you're friend "play" again and you'll see what is locked because of beta. IE, intel wing, or any besides medical, crafting, and so much more, all locked behind beta.
Ironic because this is the same thing Battlefront fanbois were clamouring before it went gold and nothing changes except for a few more match types.

Even in the slim chance that there is some magically huge content/feature list that wasn't in beta; who was testing it besides in house testers? So they are gonna release it gold without testing it first with their consumer base? Nice. You sure got me!

I'll be sure to bookmark this page to later gloat and the "told you so's" and laugh at the idiots that are still swindled by believing hype and latching on promises.

In the hope that  those who still don't understand veteran gamers aren't trying to fanboi for games anymore and we are all in the same position of wanting good games and not half-assed dlc/cash shop titles ad-naseum.

One of the aspects of the video gaming hobby that I think entirely legitimate and which I enjoy is gambling on a new game with less than complete information. This is just something that I have developed over decades and is like a metagame to see if I really have a handle on the kinds of games I enjoy. It is like a weird way to play a game of "know thyself!" So I look at a game in development and see if the core concept clicks all the right check boxes for me. If it checks enough of them, I go "all in". The Division is one such game. Do I occasionally pick a stinker? Sure. But my instincts are right often enough that I see no reason to abandon the procedure. Since I absolutely loved every minute I played of the beta, it's one of the easier bets I've made in a while. Will I still be playing it three years from now? Who knows? But I am reasonably confident that I can get my money's worth out of the initial release and the year one dlc. As far as disliking games being partitioned by dlc and microtransactions, that's simply the new industry reality and one might as well sit on a beach and argue with an approaching tsunami.
