imageRelease Coming March 3, Second CBT Sign Ups Begin Today

Daum has a pair of great news items for fans of the forthcoming game. Black Desert Online is set to be released on March 3rd and players have until February 26th to secure preorders that will expire after that date. In addition, today is the start of the registration period for the second closed beta that will begin on February 18th and end on February 22nd. Explorer and Conqueror package owners will be automatically granted access.

    Don't forget any of those who wish to pre-order the game, This game installs 3rd party software called "XingCode3" and is not covered under their "Terms OF Service" or mentioned to any of the buyers, this software constantly runs in the background with computer startup, and has no uninstall options. I have informed the game company, and they have failed to update their Terms OF Service, or inform buyers yet.

    I would play this if it was f2p. To me this game is not $30 better than the best f2p MMOs.

    First off I love the game BUT and I know saying this the White knights coming for me.....But wow...WHO is the Brand Manager for our release that is a HORRIBLE trailer....animations,no introduction(aka voice over)

    All in all a horrible way to promote a game that is already so over hyped.

    It's standard hack/bot protection software and it does not run on computer startup or constantly in the background. It runs when you're playing the game for protection and quits when you quit the game. Chill out man.

    I honestly don't think the game is very hyped. A lot of people are fairly uninformed. A small community is very into it and very vocal and that's about it.

    From what I read that's what this game has done everywhere it's launched. 3 months in no one has anything to do so they quit and it's gone F2P.

    I will get it because it reminds me of Dragons Dogma only without able to climb monsters. But the massive seamless world and majority of other things make up for that. I just wish they would make trash mobs harder

    I'm checking it out for that too but also because the skills and combos are different enough from everything else out there. It's what I enjoy the most in new games: learning (and occasionally even mastering, lol) new systems and class builds. $29 (or $49 if you want in on the CBT2) is worth it.

    I wanted to get this game on release but I think I'll get The Division (loving the beta) and see how Black Desert pans out before taking the dive.

    Maybe I'll just wait for MMORPG's review. =P

    It launched as F2P in the other regions, yes. The devs made the B2P change specifically to appeal to the western market. And I highly doubt they'll need to switch to F2P, unless they do something really wrong somewhere down the road.

    People love to claim that MMOs switch from B2P to F2P ALL the time, but it's complete and utter BS. The only one I can recall is Defiance; they launched as a B2P title and had to go F2P because... well... the game isn't all that. I loved the setting, but the game bored me tears for the most part.

    I'm sure there's another example of two out there, but they must've been games that were so crappy they flew under my radar.

    Now box + sub MMOs switching to F2P, THAT happens all the time. But not B2P > F2P.

    B2P makes sense for this title honestly - they are going to need that burst of revenue to sustain the transition to P2W in a few months once people realize it is a beautiful game world that has nothing but grind to level and gear based open world PvP at the end...I can already see the reviews incoming "Beautiful, rich world marred often times by boring, repetitive level grind and severe lack of end game content outside of PvP encounters."
