Sad thing is all the people that will support and defend this. So the next chapter of MMORPG fleecing has begun, why, cause B2P is a term that needs to be drug through the mud obviously....
B2P will be the new F2P. *sigh*
GW2 broke that a long time ago pay real money cover in to gold and then buy the best gear in the game:)
except when you go to pvp in GW2 everyone has the same leve, same stats, same armor, same everything so its not p2w. As for BDO, im disappointed. The game is not even remotely as popular as GW2 and GW2 gives a lot of cash shop stuff for free in game to everyone. Im upset about having only 3 lines of inventory space after purchasing the game, this is idiotic in BDO. ANd its obvious you dont play GW2, theres no such thing as the best gear in game. You can do any content with any good gear.
What I'd like to know is how this is different fom the F2P versions elsewhere that would justify the B2P entry fee we have in NA and EU. Does anyone know how the cash shops in the full-on F2P releases are different?
It looks like a typical F2P cash shop to me. It's nothing like ESO's or TSW's or even GW2's.
It has me scratching my head about the B2P entry fee. Is it just a surcharge for us?

It seems to me that people in the west are generally more accepting of B2P, and they probably have a bunch of smart guys doing market research to figure out how to make the most money from the game.

Korean (or asian in general) mmos tend to make less money (are less popular) in NA/EU so i guess they are trying to get as much money from us as possible. I really want to play BDO but i hate these practices.

Inventory slowly unlocks over time doing quest but I'm not sure how much is the limit I'm sure can't open it all.
GW2 is a type of p2w when I played it and yes is far from P2W like bigger cash shop hungry MMO but people can trade in cash to get the top Legendary items from the AH with traded gold from gems. Was grind really hard or pay for a short cut any short cut with gear when it had little more stat then alot items in the game at that time.
Not saying BDO any better it's in that line of P2W giving you more stats for more money in the same way when they start to aloud cash shop items sold as they said are going to unlock the cash shop in a later date to let people sell it on the AH.
Ends up to be pay now or grind really hard in line with mmo that use this system.
Yup, you buy the game and then get introduced to the cash shop. They are introducing us to the kinder and gentler cash shop.
Cash shop in a buy to play mmo is not a problem. But man im still sour about those 3 lines of inventory space. I doubt you will be able to unlock at least half of the total space just by playing. Really greedy.
Yeah those stats didn't exactly jump out at me, +1 gathering and jumping 0.5m isn't exactly going to give me much of an advantage or any at all.
I'm a massive hater when it comes to cash shops, but this CS seems very tame compared to some. Feel some might be just fanning the flames wit this one imho
That's not the right attitude. You have to hate it, or you can't be one of the cool kids.

Heavily restricting inventory in a B2P game is pretty annoying, I agree.

That and pretty well needing to have 2 or more pets to pick up dropped loot (no area looting that I have found) with the crazy respawn rates are the biggest annoyances for me.

I do plan to buy pets...
We got $50 pretend money to play with in the CB2... first thing I bought was 2 of them One by one mob looting is a PITA.

I wish everyone would just keep their play money in their pockets. The information garnered is a detriment to us.

None of this is new or surprising.
The fact that so many are shocked and asking for refunds shows they saw pretty visuals and didn't bother looking into the product they were paying for.
Still not P2W "for now" anymore more than the typical mmo.

I wonder for the people that mentioned GW2 here is that a typo? Maybe you were confused are actually thinking of Archeage?
Seems weird that ArcheAge was mentioned only once in this thread why GW2 was mentioned repeatedly as p2w lol.
ArcheAge was by far and away the real p2w calprit.
Yeah they went too far with the amount of "convenience items" that are basically a must have. Looting pets, bag space + weight and warehouse space are must haves from what I've seen so far, there's probably more. There's no doubt they are selling advantages in the cash shop, even if I've seen worse.
I wish a game like this could just be buy to play or free to play and if you pay 15$/month you get all the "convenience" stuff in the cash shop, first month you get it for free if it's b2p. Don't sell anything in the cash shop that provides an advantage, not matter how small.
It's too bad, it seems like an interesting game to me so far but I've only played to lvl 25. I won't be buying it with the current state of the cash shop that's for sure.

Same in ESO, except I don't know how many of those people are subscribers just dumping their extra crowns on those costumes.
WoW sells all kinds of mounts and pets which don't do jack.
I don't have an industry-wide panorama on the numbers, but those three games I've just mentioned have plenty of people buying cosmetic-only items.
