It honestly took two Beta tests for me to be sold on the game. (My fault not the games)
The first Beta I just quested and focused on combat. The second Beta I focused mostly on noncombat activities. This is what sold me. Plus I found a class I really liked. (Valk)
The game is just really wide open. You can quest if you chose to but it is not a quest focused game like EQ. The trading part of the game is my favorite and plays more like a strategy game than anything else. The game is optimized well and the world is beautiful. I have been very surprised with the game and for me anyway it has lived up to the hype.
EQ? Quest based? Game must of changed a lot in the last 10 years.
Correct, EQ was 99% grind, not questing. People who lie about having played EQ are easy to spot.
So what are all these? Honest Question. I played AC and Lineage then EQ2 not EQ1
but I see people say EverQuest was not about questing. Yet they have a ton of quests. I am confused. Are they just all lying? Or the quests were there people just did not do them?

    Quests Ordered by Zone

There were quests, but they weren't really for progression. Bone chips and crushbone belts for exp early for several levels was about it, and that was nerfed at 1 point for a while. Those were usually done on alts. People did a few weapon or spell quests especially, and of course the epics. Those were the main ones people did.

Much later in the game they added a ton more quests, some were even done, but the primary way of leveling was killing mobs. Getting a good group, doing a camp, dungeon. I think most of the quests I did besides the epics were for specialty items, like a good cloak or ring or to key for zones.

Yes before you install the game know that it installs "XingCode3" Anti Cheat along with it before you buy, or download for that matter, I personally don't trust it so I wont play the game even after buying the founders pack.

Also be aware that character names maybe hard to find something you like because all names are generally taken the game doesn't have Last Name system like most games are coming out with these days.
I never get this. You don't trust something that operates a bit like an antivirus for active programs? It operates the same way punkbuster and anything else like it does...

Also, it's not like they hide if from you. The panel for XIGN is right there in front of your face when you start BDO...

@OP - If you consider yourself a reasonably open-minded individual, chances are you will find something to love in this game (especially if you give yourself the time to uncover the offerings). Keep in mind many people have different versions of what end game is. Why is that? Because BDO offers alot. Be a harpoon fisherman, build boats, breed horses, build trade routes (among many other things)...If you want to focus on gear and pvp, you can do that too..or both...or all. See why there is no end-game consensus? Have fun and good luck!

Not a single commercial anti-hack program works. They're cheap rootkits that are very easily beaten. All they succeed in doing is pissing off and annoying the legit player. There are very simple workarounds for all of them that require nothing more than being able to read.

I haven't played any of the beta tests but will be playing once it actually launches, anything Important I should know going in? For those who tested, how did you like the game?
Lots of grind and "fluff" features, light design and quality - typical korean game, very pretty tho.

Haven't been this excited about a game launch since Rift.
And think about it, as the guy posted above, you'll have a hard time reserving a name because so many have been taken. That says something.

edit: Oh, and I have had the same XingCode3 guard on my comp since Atlantica Online started using it over a year ago. No problems whatsoever. Goldsellers and Bot users hate it, hence all the butt hurt.
