So it this game just a game design simulator for the creator's pleasure, or will it ever release to a full playable version that people are hoping for? I'm loathe to spend anything on it until someone can confirm an approx full release year.

Great question, when it will release only a guess.

Then I suggest you wait until development has finished and grab the final version. I am sure it will be covered in depth by the gaming magazines and websites as soon as a confirmed release date is known.

Assuming they have infinite money, they will eventually create a game. Whether they have or will get enough money is anybody's guess.
So far they have approximated that release year for Star Citizen is 2014, then 2015 and then release year 2016 for Squadron 42. Then they stopped giving release year approximations completely. They are developing, and they will release eventually if they have enough money, but it's best to wait a couple of years before buying anything.

Uh....
So you say if they don't have "infinite/enough" money the game won't release? Or perhaps you need to admit that would just mean the game would come out sooner with less content, features and polish?
If there's something this isn't, is "black and white".
¤ "Quality will always be our number one goal. We set out on this journey by looking at the gaming landscape and asking: can we do better? We continue to ask that question about everything we do. As a result, we will ALWAYS extend timelines or re-do features and content if we do not feel they are up to our standards. The freedom to fight for a new level of quality in game development is what crowd funding has allowed us, and we will continue to fight to make sure Star Citizen is the best possible game it can be."

I think when people ask for "full playable version" they mean a product that's at least relatively close to what's advertised.
If Star Citizen runs out of money right now, their game will never release as something that's even relatively close to what they've been promising the people who buy. There's nothing vague about the current state of the game - it's playable there for all to see. They're even occasionally holding free play events so that anyone can come and check what it's right now and compare to how much it differs from their promised list of features and content.

That's stretching it. If the game releases it's a released game, independent of how completed to its scope it will be by release.
I think your reply was almost fear monger, it implied that without "unlimited money" the game wouldn't release... not that it could release with a cut scope of what was pitched to be, so the understanding a random someone takes from it is pretty much, not enough money = no game will release.
Seeing 3.0 and the following patches, the game isn't far away from its pitch, will be more about professions and content; I don't play by the assumption the game is out of money right now like some have for the past 2 years.

If the funding stopped do you know if they could survive off SQ42 sales alone like CR stated? It's not fear mongering but would you or anyone stick around in a game that was half baked with most features missing and a horrible buggy mess?
The game could go live today and stay afloat if they focus on just making what they currently have better and slowed future developments down some. It's an alpha with people paying subscriptions, never thought I'd see the day.

He didn't state that. I also read that interview and it doesn't say either "survive" or "alone" anywhere. His exact words were: "I am not worried, we would have enough money to finish Squadron 42 even if no more money would come in. The revenue could then in turn be used to complete Star Citizen."
Another often used FUD interpretation of that statement, is that he says they only have enough money to finish Squadron 42. Which is also wrong.

Lol oh the irony in that last sentence. Read what You quoted again and you will see you just posted the longer version of what I just said.
The best part of this whole adventure. Kefo bags on SC, which puts SC threads on the front page. Nobody reads his drivel, but it's been logged in their mind. Free advertisement. Thanks! Keep on keepin on.

You and many other FUDers are simply unable to do logical sentence analyzes. And you don't want to even try, because you want to twist and bend what CR says to suit your own agenda.

I didn't do any "mistake". It's you who are unable to read what people say. This is really too stupid to discuss with you because you clearly are not smart enough to do logical sentence analyses, even on a basic level. Also, you're trolling just to get a reply. I'll just start to ignore your pesky mosquito tactics.

Ahh yes the insults begin. The last tactic of someone who realizes they made a mistake but refuse to admit it and move on.
Hmm only if you can load it up into your reactor as a fuel source. Then brand your ship as green energy and make a killing selling rides with all the millennials
