Most mmo's are piss easy in pve. How easy is this one?

RealbigdealRealbigdeal Member UncommonPosts: 1,666
And i'm serious. I only play hard difficulty games or games that have the option to be set at hard or very hard.

Black deserve, it it very easy, normal hard? Is there an option or a way to make it become hard or harder?

Also, i only mostly play mmo's for the pvp since it's actually the only part of the game that will test your might.

If you only play difficult games, why do you play MMO's at all? BDO will be hard in the sense that he who grinds the most wins the most.
  • MightyUncleanMightyUnclean Member EpicPosts: 3,531
Yes, like most MMO's, it has a difficulty slider that can be set by each player.

If you want to test your...might...in PvE, you're in the wrong genre.

I play them for the pvp mostly.

I played Ragnarok online the longest and i mostly played that for the pve. Man, Ragnarok online is freaking hard bro. Killing an MVP which is a boss is something to be proud of because they're hard to find and once you find them, very very hard to kill.
It's only a small minority who can kill atleast 1 MVP. Not killing 1 MVP was never something to be ashamed of because it was that hard.

In RO, not aggroing a lot of monsters around is the hardest thing to do. In a 1on1, it can be pretty hard as-well. It can be foolish to spam potions in pve because they're pretty expensive (I think it was 1000 zeny per white potion which is a lot). So it's always better to kill what you can currently kill at your current level, but always better to kill something very hard in order to level-up faster.

You will often die in RO while you try and level up or try to gather rare items.

And the PVP in RO is very very fun.

Yes, i wish we had something as hard as RO, but what i also hated about this game was the insane grind. Today, i'm too old to grind again, i want to play a game where you don't have to grind too much just to reach the next big thing. You know the reputation of the korean game so i don't even have to explain how bad the grind was in RO.

Like most MMOS that dont have a stong focus on group content - it's a complete face roll PvE.

I play them for the pvp mostly.
You should enjoy BDO if that's the case, but being competitive in PVP is extremely dependent on how much time you spend mindlessly grinding and RNG gear upgrades. If you want a PVP game with equalized gear and a very high skill cap, play Blade and Soul.

    Few caveats for B&S:
    1. Very ping dependent
    2. Low rated ELO is completely filled with bots

Sadly DMKano is right. The PVE is made especially easy on purpose, as the PVE is focused on AOE grinding. There are some instances of world bosses from scrolls and such, which you should do in a group, but more for the loot share than because of difficulty. It is a PVP game first and foremost, the PVE is only meant as a means to an end. Its there to level you, providing XP not providing content.

The only MMO I ever played that had difficult PVE was Age of Conan raiding.  Tier 3 through Tier 6 raiding in that game is incredibly technical and requires every person to be on their toes and doing their job.  The simplest mistake of one player will wipe a raid.

Hathor Ka in Tier 3 was known as the Guild killer.  Many guilds who were rolling through Tier 1 and Tier 2 content were smashed to pieces by that one boss.  Not because she's hard, but because even one person who requires "carrying" will wipe the raid in that fight.  So wipe after wipe, and then people start calling out the sandbags by name, then their friends get mad cause you called their boy a shit player and suddenly you have two guilds instead of one.

I went from AoC to SWTOR nightmare modes and I couldn't believe people were calling that trash raiding "hard" after playing AoC.  I guess it's just what you get used to.

Find your challenges, fighting hordes of red mobs is both rewarding as challenging... huge XP fast leveling, great loot...  it also offers you a chance to hone your skills, so you can get the best out of them in PvP, as you where allready using your whole arsenal in PvE..

You can also choose to fight green mobs with your eyes closed using your left mouse button all day...

In the end, its your choice how much challenge you want..  But keep in mind, you dont want to die, there are quite some deathpennalties...

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Probably one of the easiest MMOs for PVE ever.  There are no raids or dungeons, so there isn't even anything like learning boss mechanics and whatnot.

I guess you could call maximising grinding efficiency as a kind of challenge.

btw there are MMOs with difficult PVE endgame- TERA for example had some really difficult boss encounters.  In the beginning before they were nerfed, BAMs (Big Ass Monsters) were pretty challenging solo.

Well you could grind mobs that are few lvls above you I lvled extremly fast that way during the night sure I had to pop in healing potions all the time and dodging (aggroed as many as i could) dunno what to do at max lvl thou

From 1 to 50 if you it'll be groups I would say it's more challenging than most MMO tbh. If I take one wrong step I will die in a second or two, so I can't really relax ever. But that's when pulling big groups. However MMO are pretty much never challenging so that doesn't really say much. BAM grinding in Tera is the only challenging content I can think of..

Bottom line though is, don't play mmos if you crave a pve challenge.

AoC has by far the hardest raiding in any game I have ever played.  By far.

If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.

PvE (bosses) with poor gears is quite challenging, I mean Dark Souls challenging. With good gears it's pretty much just like any other video game.

PvP in any game is quantity>quality, same in this one. A few well geared players are no match against a horde of poo gear "scrubs". That being said, in situations where the numbers are more or less even, it will come down to gears, player inputs, and of course, ping.

Combat in this game is super easy. Its also super redundant, and downright infantile. The PvP is equally horrible with everything seemingly arbitrarily working or not working. Sometimes I kill players with a single spell, sometimes 5 do nothing... against the same player. Its also really clunky with hardcoded buttons and abilities that require additional use of directions... for no reason. Its such a step backward in not only action combat, but MMO combat in general.

Umm been playing it since korean CBT1 which was winter of 2014.

If you think that PvE in BD is hard, you either don't understand what the word hard means, or you are doing something very wrong.

    Also name calling - weaksauce
I hit one button aim my cursor in the general direction of 10 mobs and hold down left click and everything dies, that how hard it is :P although i die in a couple hits myself from some of the hard hitting mobs if im not paying attention of the sneak up behind me.

It's understandable that BDO is harder for you, coming from Hello Kitty Online and all, but that does not give you any reason whatsoever to call people fools.

Try AOEing red mobs solo without being coddled/carried by your friends.  It is a lot harder solo but you are probably missing an exp bonus.

It s some of the easiest pve I ve seen. One of the many reasons I passed on this game.

I think the only game that had tough PvE was Everquest. I have not come across any other game with tough PvE.

FFXI and DAOC had tough pve in it s day.
  • kitaradkitarad Member LegendaryPosts: 8,178
I played both those games. DAOC was horrible the PvE. Very boring stuff. I think that game was good for the RvR but PvE was a snoozefest. FFXI beyond level 15 or so I think from what I recall you could not solo at all. That is not difficult PvE that is just making things so you had to group. Everquest you could solo but you had to be clever and good to really not die and lose more experience than you gain.
