I wish more people were as terrible as Chris Roberts so we could have more games like Privateer, Freelancer, Wing Commander 1 -4 and so forth.
Clearly, he has no idea what making games is all about
He wasn't the one that made those games hit release. Granted as an idea designer that is where he shines. Making the game and staying on track is his downfall, always was!
Yeah, being lead designer and inventor of Wing Commander means he's got the ideas and nothing more. Let's ignore that he coded much of the first games himself - including the vital technology that revolutionised space combat visuals - and he was also director of the later ones. Let's also ignore that he's still coding significant parts of Star Citizen ON TOP of everything else.
Why would anyone in favor of SC report a thread like this?
Not only is it entertaining, it's supportive of Star Citizen - as it gives such a powerful example of the level of ignorance and hateful nonsense that exists among the detractors.
People in that camp will obviously rally behind it - but that changes nothing, as they're still in that camp.
But people "on the fence" can plainly see how weak this kind of deceit and desperate campaigning against an as-yet-to-be-released computer game really is.
A smart detractor would simply post the link to the interview and let it speak for itself. Obviously, that's not what we're dealing with here - and the manipulation of Irving's statements is so plain that it can't help but be noticed by an objective mindset.

Ignoring that this other thread was obviously closed because it stopped being constructive, why are you confusing the word "thread" with "topic"?
I'm talking about THIS thread - not the topic itself.
As I said, the topic itself COULD have been an effective argument against SC - if it was handled by a smart detractor.
LOL I love it! With the attacks against anyone talking bad about SC, CR have slowed down. Now they want to use Psychology on us to make it seem like threads like this is good for the game.
Maybe soon CR will make an appearance. I would love that, let him join the conversation.

So we have 'Rob is a slacker because i am' Dklond here, talking about 'ignorance and hateful nonsense'. Okay.
If it was 'supportive of SC' why the numerous attacks on Rob to discredit him by SC supporters? In this thread we have 'He is getting paid. He is intoxicated. He is a disgruntled employee. He is a slacker.'

Let's also ignore that he's still coding significant parts of Star Citizen ON TOP of everything else.
LOL. What "significant" parts is he coding? The Star Marine module that was outsourced to illfonic and then indefinitely postponed? The SQ42 single player part that is being made in Germany where Chris only recently started spending some actual time? The AI part that was outsourced? When is this "significant" coding actually taking place? In between his awesome directing of the "around the verse" and "10 for the Chairman videos"? In between his efforts at the MOCAP studio? While is is traveling around the globe between all his offices and personal appearances?
I dont know if you saw the video but Chris has a hard time even PLAYING his own game. Chris is the "idea" guy. I dont know if you understand what CEO's do but the CEO of a hospital does not contribute a "significant" amount of time to the patients. In fact, he doesnt devote any time to actual patients.

This, as the game director who really has no business doing actual code - but he's doing that anyway.
He's not directing the community videos.
As for him being human on camera, that's something I appreciate. They could easily stage it all and make it perfect like most companies do - but they've decided to show things live and expose all their flaws.

The 'anti-sc' crowd does in fact do more favors for SC then not, this is true. More bizzare the better, they could just be reasonably critical of the SC project but going over the top like this just gives SC more attention because pretty much 100% of the people see right thru the play and get curious as to what all the hyper attention is all about
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

The core of the physics engine/flight model, for one.
I also think you are wrong about this. According to Star Citizen videos, Pete Mackay is the flight model game designer and John Pritchett is the physics programmer. If as you say Chris did all this significant work then why have these two guys on staff and doing the video when we all know Chris loves to be in the videos.
Bottom line is you have NO proof or evidence to support your claim that Chris has done a "significant" part of the coding. You just have your opinion that you so desperately want to be right. Its actually kind of sad how you struggle against the facts and revert to name calling.

LMAO at ANYONE who thinks ths is positive for SC or CR.
That is as deluded as it gets.
The ONLY thing they have delivered is a broken test area for them to showcase some ships. The ONLY positive that can be said about that is at least they have the models in that area and not just jpegs. But then again how many playable ships are there and how many different types of ships have they sold? What is the most expensive (real world money) ship people are able to play in that broken tech demo?
This guy has been there since before day one, and its pretty clear he thinks the probability of this thing being delivered (at ANY time) are basically zero.
People can attack the guy for any number of things but that shows how the mentality of the white knights work.
The best part is this guy left a company that had raised (at the time he left) around 80 million. The year They did it in 5 months actually) since he left SC and CR they (Descendant) had a kick starter campaign (that BARELY raised enough money) and within 5 months they had a pre alpha demo going for certain backers, a couple months after that its been green lit on Steam and has been playable since late Oct. With positive results (although minimal playerbase).
People can break that all down with all the semantics they want, but these guys , Irving included, had a kickstarter, MADE a game, DELIVERED said game and had it playable within 5 months on a shoe string budget. While CR/CiG have basically had the same tech demo with a few new ships added in that same time, also 'raising' another 30 million bucks. Oh and I guess they 'allegedly' rebuilt the engine so it would properly play SC, which I dont think anyone has seen actual proof of yet.
The 'anti-sc' crowd does in fact do more favors for SC then not, this is true.

You realize (no pun intended)... that in the grand scheme of things an article only means something when it comes to a conclusion right? If CIG continues to make SC, then in turn releases it, that article and this admission really meant nothing. That's not the same thing as dismissing the content of the article, the allegations in that article could be nothing but the truth, yet without a follow up, as well as real investigation into the matter, it would all be for nothing, having no tangible result.
IF that's what Realizer is saying I can't disagree.
Nice shifting of the goal-post. But again, stop LYING please.
Care to elaborate?
Well since you can't seem to remember what you wrote would it really work?
You claimed no one was dismissive of the article or this interview. When i pointed out why you are LYING you shifted the goal post.
Stop LYING please.
I didn't see it, as I didn't read Realizers post, that's far from lying, the point was I wasn't sure who the person I quoted was posting toward, in other words I wasn't sure if he was trying to say I was being dismissive of said article, as his post was directly under a series of my own posts. There were 200+ posts in this thread at the time, I certainly didn't read them all. Hence why I said it's best to quote when you're arguing against a certain post.
As for shifting the goal post... You wrote one sentence from another posters statement.. I gave my take on that sentence. Hardly shifting the goals...
As for it being a claim.. does this sound like a claim or a question?
"It's usually best to quote what you're referring to, I didn't really notice anyone dismissing the article, nor dismissing the lead designer interviewed here. "
I said I didn't notice not that there wasn't anyone doing that... Comprehension goes a long way in a debate.
I'll clarify for a third time for @JohnP0100 in my opinion these former employees claiming to have had a bad experience during their time at CIG don't really accomplish anything unless they take legal action. So in the long run I'm saying most sane people who see these articles/videos don't really care. Sure the few of us vocal fans/anti fans sling verbal shit at each other, but the project continues to bring in around $3m a month. With that being the case, and as long as we have no proof or legal action being taken we are left with two options.
Option one is to pledge and wait for the game to come out. Option two is to not pledge and wait for the game to come out. Either way there will still be over 1m+ people trying the game, probably more once a purchasable final product is available.
So I'll say again, I personally don't think these articles/threads accomplish anything. Non of these people are taking legal action, so the company will keep on going. So why don't you wait till the game comes out, then you can scream from the mountain tops about how bad it is?
It's very obvious though that @JohnP0100 isn't interested in logic, he just wants to use fallacy to validate his opinions as facts. Hence why he takes one word out of an argument and bases the entire position on it. That is flawed logic, and a terrible debate tactic.
If a lawsuit gets filed and verifiable proof comes out that laws are being broken at CIG we can have a real conversation about the future of the game, but until then these threads aren't going to stop the game from selling more ships. So why bother wasting the effort?
The 'anti-sc' crowd does in fact do more favors for SC then not, this is true.

I said that he continues to post that he is NOT a fan but then makes cracks on "the anti-sc crowd". How is that in any way saying he has to share my opinion?
