    yeah I commented on that further down in the post. I dont know how many 'skeletons' there are. I just counted blue boxes in the 'flyable' column.

    But there are 105 ships listed how many of those are unique I dont know. I am sure someone can count them. I do know several of them do have simply different skins, which obviously means those ones are no where near as difficult to produce as an unflyable one with a different skeleton. I mentioned it all before I just didnt link all that stuff which is a cardinal sin, but its always funny when they DO link something it makes THEIR argument worse somehow.

    And that number doesn't even include the "super duper secret shadow sites" where they have hundreds of workers chained up in the basement and pay them with bread, water, and on Sundays, thin gruel made from their fallen coworkers. Which of course Chris Roberts oversees from his secret volcano lair.

    Only about 80-85 of those are "full time". Last I saw an official number was mid 2015, that number was 80, a few of those left, got replaced, "a few more than 80" is best educated guess.

    The other 200+ however many are not full time, and some might be independent contractors, as graphic artists, some don't even work "on the projects", but are business roles. If you're going to cite this "300" number, I'd very much like a current breakdown who all this entails.

    Just kinda tired seeing this 300 300 300, but it means nothing, just a floating number, because we know less than a 3rd are full time positions.

    They got 20 engineer jobs open right now.  They go back as far as Feb of 2015...   I wonder what the deal with that is.

    19 artist jobs and one of those has been open since 2014.

    Well, some of those are probably reposts. No game has 20+ engineers. Most larger projects have 8-10. Roberts said in last week's 10ftc they were hurting for engineers, but it doesn't mean the ones they have are great, considering as they can't seem to find more, they do with what they have.

    I just get the impression the "nucleus" of this personnel list is really weak. Spouting 300! 300! is more of a damning implication that you can hire 280 of the wrong people to get something done.

    If you reverse (the verse) financial equation and say 'OK, you need $110m to create this game' - where the hell did CR think this money was going to come from??  You can only really bank on people backing for the price of the box and CD, did he really think it would take an army of whales dropping 10s of 1000s of dollars to get over the line..?

    If you took that business plan to a bank to get funding they would think you were either on drugs or had never run a game development project. CR is so so lucky that the high rollers have been bailing him out for this long.

    they had investors, i know at least one that pulled out his large sum of money when the escapist article came out.

    I simply can't wait to get in a mining ship, mine all the ore I need, refine the ore, build ship components with the refined ore, then build ships with the components.

    Then I'm gonna sell all of those ships, components and ammo and carve out a nice piece of the completely player driven market in this sandbox game.

    I also can't wait to see the thousands of different skills that will be available to train and master in order to build the thousands of different ship components, rigs, subsystems... basically everything in the game world.

    It's funny that actual "alpha" interstellar flight might be launched before this project gets out of alpha. That's unless you go by CIG's qualifications of an alpha, which would mean interstellar flight was in alpha 110 years ago.

    But... but... it's an open world sandbox.  I'm shocked!  Shocked I tell you, to find out that I won't be able to control a crafting empire in this open world sandbox game!

    Because of the tech they have chosen it's a room based FPS shooter where sometimes you are wearing a constume that looks like a ship :-)

    im guessing they have not a fricking clue how mining, refining, production, all star stuff will work.  If they did they would be telling us something....

    Instead we get CR saying 'umm... Probably this and that.... I imagine it will do the other thing... Did you see that movie with mining in it? No not the one about the dudes trapped in the mine... Although! That was kind of cool... Yeah... You could get ummm trapped in a Vanduul mine and have to ummm DIG to find the exit or umm use BOMBS to blow a hole in the ceiling...'

    sound familiar anyone?
