The experience loss at higher level can translate to 10+ hours of real time lost from a single death.
At what level does this happen?  And what conditions are required for it to equal 10+ hours of real time loss, since your use of the word 'can' makes it sound like it's a variable loss.

10+ hours of real time lost? You know I understand losing a little of experience but 10+ hours worth? No offense but that is a little ridiculous. Thanks for the replies though, this is not for me. Cannot risk losing that much time if someone decides to be a jerk.
It's my understanding that if you just keep yourself flagged for pvp then you won't lose xp.

    Can someone verify this?

edit: also, that means they don't incur karma.

Just wondering, what are the consequences to you if you get ganked in PVP.  Do you lose items , money etc? Do you just respawn at your closest bind point with just the grievance of having to run back? Do you have a timer that prevents you from getting ganked again? What exactly are the pros and consequences?

You lose experience, your socketed gems have a risk of breaking, and obviously you lose time and possibly your grind spot. At negative karma you risk losing enchant levels in your gear which is catastrophic if you are at high + gear level.

The experience loss at higher level can translate to 10+ hours of real time lost from a single death.

You can't lose levels so the best time to PvP is when you just dinged and are at 0% xp so you don't lose any XP.

This is why I level to 56 and then don't care anymore about xp.
That sounds absolutely horrible.  Is griefing easy to do?  Has it caused people to never take risks or fight anyone who might be remotely challenging?  I assume people just run around in large groups too.
Are you onto something or just on something?

PvE servers cannot work in BD.

Think about it - what would be the long term point of playing on a PvE server???

The PvE mobs are faceroll at all levels, world PvE bosses are not a draw - actually they are implemented poorly - players do them for gear alone not for the fun of the encounter,  the drive to get gear to +15 and beyond is PvP - not PvE, you can PvE just fine at 1-60 in way less than +15 gear.

So crafting you say - to what end? For what purpose? So you amass billions of silver on a PvE server... for a title and an icon on leaderboards? For what purpose?

PvE server in BD has ZERO sustainability long term - but both PA and Daum know this which is why they will never do a PvE server.

If there was a way to make PvE servers work - they'd do it in a heartbeat - because the majority are PvE players.
People enjoy doing those things.  I never saw the point in housing but there are people who refuse to play a mmo that doesn't have it.  I like open pvp myself but I do believe its time for these forced pvp mmo's to realize they have a huge market for pve only servers.
Are you onto something or just on something?

    PvE? Lol
     Lol PvP? Lol
This game is an economy sim, plain and simple.  If you aren't into that, then the game just isn't for you.  It's a joke in both the PvE and PvP sense.  It's wholly unbalanced, completely top-heavy, etc etc.
If it was f2p I would say play it yourself and see, but I wouldn't buy it, knowing what I know now.  The allure of all the neat economy sim systems wore off quickly when I realized that isn't what I want out of my mmo, much like I found that I couldn't do a mostly pure building game like Landmark.  At least I actually tried them though.

i bet all theses people that want a PVE server , are just trolls that just want to sit there and KS someone trying to grind take all the loot and laugh at them because of no consequences, right now if you do that you get shit on in a heart beat over and over till you leave, so about a huge gigantic portion of people asking for a PVE server are troll that like to KS and steal loot from other players without any consequences, and cannot handle getting shit on when they do that in a PVP server. PVP only server is the only way to go to prevent those PVE trolls. like in many games there is always an asshole that will come steal ur mobs and loot and guess what you cannot do shit , you just gotta stop grinding till that is done even if you there first.
Can you name one of those people ? And btw, what would prevent you from playing on a pvp server if you think it's the better way to do it ?

All the people that I know, pretty much everyone in my guild, that would play on a pve server don't even grind mobs. The highest level in the guild is 54, I am 52.5. We don't farm mobs, ever.
oh so how did u get to 54 then did you do life skill for 5000 hrs? no u did not you killed mobs
I am not 54, I am 52.5.  The highest level in my guild of 100 people is 54, he probably did grind a bit. Me I never grinded mobs for exp, it doesn't mean that I never kill mobs. I do quests and dailies. The longest I have stayed at a spot killing mobs trying to get knowledge on them was around 45 minutes. I have over 260 energy and contribution, 57 days played time. So your estimate is probably right, it would take over 5000 hours to get to 54, but I don't care.
