Well, if china succeeds with $130 dollar VR headsets that can only be a positive thing for consumers and drive the competition to lower their prices. China rules the universe :awesome:
true but it does depend on the product.
Chinese moto scooters are known to be cheap and horribly built (I say this as someone who is in the motorcycle/scooter community somewhat for about 5 years)
BUT if they think they can build one of the same quality as a Rift that right on!
So just where are the Oculus's being manufactured?
Let me take a stab at it... it begins with a "C" and ends with an "a"
actually indirectly that is exactly the point I am making.
how can china make its own equipment for less? well rules of world wide manufacturing suggests by cutting cost on quality.
OR
Oculus is actually Apple
It's quite simple actually
Its called a "Profit Margin" and its made every time a product changes hands. Also Oculus can not undersell their retailers.
Although I have no doubt an Oculus will be of a better quality, the difference in quality is most likely a lot slimmer than you might believe.
so I know a thing or two about the scooter industry (as in motor scooters). Chinese motorscooters are very well known to be the cheapest there is but also the worst quality.
I think taking it on faith of a description of basically 'a VR headset' and then to extend to think that it means its as good as an HTC Vive by default is ....frankly...stupid. All speakers are not created equal
it might be, Oculus and Vive might be the worlds worst offenders of upcharging tech, but its unlikely.
What is more likely is that the Oculus and the Vive both are just considerably better than this device....shall we compare all specs?
Remember back in the 70's how we used to laugh at the Japanese made stuff?
which is why inspection is important.
cardboard is not as good as Vive nor is Gear VR even though they are all 'VR Headsets'
or.
all speakers are not created equal
The days of Mau and Chiang Kai-shek have long since ended. There are many countries with a labor rate 1/10 that of China. If you believe they are not intelligent, innovative and capable of producing high quality products, you're a fool.
We are the ones losing our manufacturing ability, We are the ones who are incapable of competing. The vast majority of our Tradesmen required are retired or dead, with basically no one in our continent to take their place.

Canada?
You know how they named Canada right? They put a bunch of letters in a hat and pulled them out one a time. The first letter was a C, eh? The second letter was an N, eh? The third letter was a D, eh?
Also, I can't get over them calling this thing Dee Poon. Yeah, that's what I want strapped to my face all... wait, actually... uhhh. Shit. They got me.
