You are stranded on an island, and can only play one mmorpg

Ignore that you would not have a dry computer, or electricity, or the internet,  or that if you did you could use those things to seek rescue.

Hypothetically, you get one mmorpg to pass the time. It can be any mmorpg, and it can be according to whatever year or version you want it to be. The original version. The fully updated version. A special rule set server. Whatever.

What will it be?

For me it would be original Everquest, just after the Luclin expansion (because that's about what it was when I first played it).

EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

Whatever year lets me play Idle Worship, that was one cool game.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

I don't know... surviving being stranding on an island sounds more fun than playing one mmorpg that will eventually drive you mad.

    toss up between

1st) Darkfall release may 2008 EU server... MY GOD TO IMAGINE GOING BACK!! <3

2nd) Vanguard release FFA PVP server.. I'D OWN THE SERVER.. have every type of crafter and a twink in every tier and would jump on lower level twink in every populated area killing higher level people to gain their infamy without the fear of losing any... rebuilding thousands of infamy on each toon again would be so much fun.

3rd) Guild Wars release... wow that game was soooOOoo good! It was so easy to do well in that game.

4th) Age of Conan release FFA PVP server so that I could make a video of the funny twink that I had. Her name was Lezbow and she killed all men on sight. Yeah I was like a true roleplayer and she was naked .. . I loved chasing women out of the dungeon yelling "I want to be your girlfriend!" ; )

I'd be more concerned about food, water, and shelter.

How about as a social experiment a company puts you on an island with solar cell setup for electricity. A hut.  Food and water dropped off by air weekly. You're given a gaming computer with sat-modem.  And a firewall that only allows access to one MMO.

My answer would be Second Life.  Because some don't consider that an MMO my second answer would GW2.  I'm assuming no money for any type of purchases.

"How long would you play your one MMORPG of choice before calling for help to permanently leave the island and game? ", would be a far more interesting question.

Lol, good answer because without food and water you wont be playing any mmo for long.

I loved EQ, played for years but it would be to out of date for me so i'dd choose Vanguard which is just about modern enough for me to stomach.

People play more than one MMORPG?  ;)

EVE of course, there "is" only one!!!

Food, water and shelter are for single player gamers. *wink*

Diablo 3. Some may not call it a mmorpg .. but hey, i only have one to pass the time, so less broadened the definition, or else I would die of boredom sooner.

OP says any MMORPG and you still managed to screw it up, lol. Impressive.

Anywho, I'm with Kyleran on this one. Gotta go with EVE (current version) as I would want something awesome with a lot of meat on the bones to pass the time.

Is suicide an option? Considering I would have a lot of time and could fully invest myself inside a game. The answer is obvious to me: Eve online

I feel like the only one that didn't mention some kind of mainstream game (ie eve, SWG, vanguard etc etc) :)  I guess my tastes in game are different than the "norm"

That's why I suggested it as a company project.  The title of this thread struck me as funny because who would even think about playing a computer game if you were stranded on an island.  Perhaps to ask for help in game chat and try to convince people you weren't trolling.

If it were a company project I could last maybe a year at most, it would also depend on how much they were paying me to do this.

Game mechanics are irrelevant here.  The real question is which MMORPG community I'd be most likely to get help from at getting off of the island.

EQ probably after PoP or after something later like The Serpent's Spine.
