I'm going back to older games all the time, some of them i never uninstall.
I always keep EQ2 installed and updated and recently started Kingdoms of Amalur again. There is always one or another part of Borderlands on my drive and my Steam of course contains a few games old and new.
Then Skyrim with a million mods. I can never delete that, because i could never restore it the way i modded it over the years. I plan to play through Spellforce a after i finished Life Is Strange these weeks. I'm also not through with Dragon's Dogma yet.
A few month ago i bought a 21:9 monitor and many of these older titles don't support that format. So with most of the older games i love there is always alot of tweaking, injecting and third party stuff involved to make them work.
I wish that I could go back to many games that are dead... so right Im too depressed to play anything.... I'll find something someday, right?? : /

What do you mean under "back"? Never left in the first place Sure, LotRO may not count as older game with its minimal 9 years, but I still used to play through TLJ every year, running around in Morrowind, in Vice City, someone already mentioned Bloodlines... and with gog.com, I replayed countless oldies over the years.
It's not "going back", there are the good games, and there's the rest. Good games are ageless (heck, two months ago I played through the Doom cycle, not the crappy third one ofc, just 1(ultimate), 2 and Final. Classics live forever, that's why they're classics.)
All the time, especially when it comes to MMOs - as they tend to release expansions and patches to sustain their playerbases.
This^
Not to mention Emus..
I also have a dreamcast and play games on that every once in a while.
As well as KOTOR 1-2, Morrowind/Oblivion/SKyrim... Shenmue, I dabble with all of these titles from time to time, KOTOR 1-2 I have to play through at least once a year.

Can't find anything out there that appeals to me more than Wildstar.
I keep dabbling in SW:TOR from time to time but EA squandered Bioware's soul. Had a brief fling with WoW (pre-ordered WoD, burned out before it launched).
WTB a hard-sci, trinity based, challenging MMORPG that's not all about squeezing the last drop of blood from the whales.
MMOs/MOBAs aside, I still play Chrono Trigger on emulators every now and then. It's just a game that, to me, will never age. I'm still hoping that the powers may be decide to recreate the game in HD.
I still play Skyrim and Diablo 2 as well. I'm not really such a big fan of Diablo 3. The launch just killed the whole experience for me. Although given the recent updates, I might give it a try one of these days. Although a bit recent, I also still play through the Mass Effect series for a whole weekend when I get the chance, just to see the different scenarios and endings.
Last night I bought and started playing Vampire Redemption (use to play it a lot back in the day). Really surprised it's playing so well.

EQ Classic and FFXI on 3rd expansion and EVE. I do still occasionally sub to WoW but thats addictive behavior. Not true desire. I play sparsely for a week then quit again.
Define older. If you are talking about >10 years old .. of course not. I barely have enough time for all the new games, why would i want to play the old ones?
I would say yes I have gone back to an older game if you look at it from the right point of view. City of Heroes was that game. Sometimes I would have subs to three games and one of them would be CoH. When that new game was over for me, I would go back to CoH. That game really established the altholicism. Wow could also technically count as well when I went back for WotLK.

I guess you can say I play REAL mmos different than most of you. I don't care about level, I care about being friendly and popular. By the time I hit level 20 I plan on having a lot of friends.
I don't win by completing Deadmines or Shadowfang Keep with no wipes. I win by logging on and having new friends say " Hi, I see your online ".
I went back to WoW with the intent of exploring and not doing any dungeons but the game is very easy now at low levels although I was geared in whites. I only died because I dozed off and fell from Teldrassil. I also cannot accept any higher level quests as they are level capped so you cannot see them until you get to a level which saddened me as I was hoping to travel about doing quests and get rare pets as I explore.

"Supposedly" they are going to make the low level experience more "challenging" when Legion hits, but honestly 1) its Blizzard so....yeah, 2) They didn't have to wait till legion to even implement something like that if they were serious about it. Although, I did like the bugged mages they had at the start of WoD one shotting everyone.
so far from all MMO i played i was never return to any of them, im a person that when i like a game i play it continuously, if i stop for any reason i stop for good.
fan of SWG, XCOM, Defiance, Global Agenda, Need For Speed, all Star Wars single player games. And waiting the darn STAR CITIZEN

The 2 most profitable mmorpg titles in the market are Lineage 1 and wow, most people prefer older titles because they offer far more content and aren't all clones with pretty graphics.
I never stopped playing the good old games, I spend more time playing games made in 2004 or earlier than I do in those made after. I still have my old Commodore Amiga 500 when I want to go really oldschool but I use an emulator on PC for those games most of the time.
Some old PC games I play at least once in a while:

I've been playing EVE for the past 2 years straight and over 7 years in sub time since 2007. So am I playing a newer or older game?
Older, but some fail to grasp the concept of "kaizen" continuous improvement, of which Eve is an example.
Counterexample would be WoW, or Elite: Dangerous (sorry), with optional, separately released expansions.

I am not most people.
Plus, why would I care about how much content is in ONE game? I can simply finish a game and move onto another. I don't play a single game anyway.
And no .. they are not all clones with pretty graphics because I do not only play classical mmorpgs. For example, The Division is nothing like WoW. May be it is a modern day Destiny clone, but i wouldn't care since I do not play Destiny.

Went back to FFXI 2 years ago and having a blast, better than all 3 of the games above combined to me.

I tried LOTRO again and just do not like the way the game is going.
Maybe SWTOR is where I should be headed.
I would love to go back to Darkfall for a month off and on again. That is what i used to do.
