Because the movie is pretty bad honestly..I went into it as a Warcraft fan and expected garbage, they delivered based on my expectations. The movie is like 4/10.
Not the worst of the year, far from the best. About in the middle as far as video game movies go.
If you know nothing about warcraft, you'll rage about spending a dime, I know several who said this was the worst thing they've seen in a cinema (they like game of thrones and lotr).
The movie itself is not as bad as a lot of people make out. Actually was better than I expected overall to be honest. No regrets for the 2 hrs as it was entertaining at least.
The main problem to me was they tired to do a prequel to WOW, but even then left tons of plot holes. If you are going to do a prequel start at the beginning not in the middle. There was a ton of stuff before all of this and for people that do not know the lore they were most likely lost and didn't know what was going on. They should have decided to do a trilogy because there was way to much lore to introduce to do it in one movie.
Still would have preferred for it to be total CGI instead of a mix of live action though. Overall decent movie though. Have seen a lot worse and a lot better through the years.
Nice to see that you guys enjoyed it. I really want to watch it this weekend but I am going out with my family and I can't convince them to watch it with me. I might have to sneak out tonight to watch it all by myself.
Lol @ sneak out and watch it part, but yeah I getcha. So many of my friends said no to it until I saw it first and told them all it rocked. Just had a friend text me and say it was awesome. He wasn't going to see it because of the shit reviews. Hopefully good word of mouth gives it the push it needs to beat the terrible reviews.

It was based on the RTS, not the MMOG - and follows the story somewhat closely (other than the changes I mentioned in the OP).
Non Wow players writing reviews is why its getting bad press. Some of them are really funny. You can tell the reviewers are totally clueless so they nit pick really dumb things to sound like they know what they are talking about.
It's for people who know and love Warcraft and it's lore. The CGI is the best I have ever seen in a movie. I remember when Avatar came out, and even though I considered it a pretty SHIT awful movie, the CGI had me hooked. Same with Warcraft. But to be completely honest, the acting in Warcraft is awful and if you were someone seeing it (IE A CRITIC) who had no past history with Warcraft, you would probably say this movie totally sucks.
But from someone who has enjoyed the games over the years, despite the terrible acting, I've always loved the story of Warcraft and I thought it was a good representation with great CGI.

That's not limited to this movie. I had a woman, on a review site, put a bad note for "LOTR: The Two Towers" because "Walking trees are not realistic". I don't kid you, that's a true story. Some people just go to see movies about oranges and expect to find apples.
Dialog was shocking ...human characters abysmal...the HORDE...AWESOME ...for all its flaws still enjoyed it ...But they need to get a strong in depth story line and develop the characters a lot more ...and never use the word DAD again..looking forward to the next one
I don't mind people giving it a 60-70% score, that's within the range of personal opinion. Even though I personally thought it was a 90%.
The thing that bothered me was the 2-3 reviews on meta that gave it 0/10 and pushed the averages to the floor, I know they do this for the outrage clicks but they really should not be allowed to get away with stuff like that.
was there a story in the movie or was it all just a series of scenes with special effects? I dont know which is why I ask.. Sometimes I think this younger generation doesnt even know what an actual story is
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
1) They didnt pay their reviewer protection fees. 2) Douchebag pro-movie reviewers expect all movies to be the next LotR. Movies who tip the scales more towards eye-popping visualgasms rather than drama tend to get lower reviews.

visualgasms mistaken for good story telling.
I like how that is put

Just saw the movie it was pretty good. I thought the CGI was good on the big screen. The story was good not great. I do not regret seeing the movie in any way. 7/10 is a good grade for it. Not Earth shattering, but not crap either. Better than Saturday afternoon flicks, but no Epic movie for the ages.
They made movie? Probably failing because lack of advertisement. They defiantly did not promote it like they did there game.
I'm surprised at how little. It had some to be sure, but not nearly what I expected. My guess is that they knew that they had a large, tailor made audience with the fans of the game. They probably relied on word of mouth from that point.
Its not. The movie had total success.Prolly more to come. Rated 7.8 on IMDB ,which is pretty high http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0803096/ Whose reviews you've been reading..
The movie was awful. I don't know how anyone could think it was even good. It felt like an expensive, awful, fan made youtube movie. The CGI was the only bright spot. The pacing, script, "action" scenes, and acting was all terrible. This is coming from a huge Ben Foster fan, I reallly like Duncan Jones as a director, and who doesn't like Vikings. I also enjoy the Warcraft lore if that makes a difference.
For such a great cast It feels like they saw the script and decided it wasn't worth it to even try.
This movie was on par with that awful 2000 Dungeons and Dragons movie with Marlon Waynes. For once the critics were right.
The common complaint I see is that the movie is literally fan-service and makes zero effort whatsoever to get non-fans up to speed. Missed opportunity to bring in new blood to the franchise. I wont bother seeing it, personally. Then again, I always thought the warcraft lore was incredible boring.

The movie only has a bad rap amongst critics. The audience is giving it a much higher rating even as high as 84. Glad to see that people will enjoy a movie regardless of how critics tell them.

The reason why it has a high score because the general public are staying away from it.
The positive reviews are coming from WoW fans.
Show this movie to your grandparents or someone who has no idea about Blizzard or Warcraft - they'll hate it.
really ..shocking ................... Grandma dont like animated violent orcs... // How can that be ... lol wtf ...The rest of your statement is also completely unfounded speculation and false ..
The movie is doing pretty good financially, so Id guess the general publics are interested aswell. Unless every WoW fan in the world has already seen it 5 times to make those numbers.
The movie was bad. The story was rushed and boring. The orcs looked stupid and to big, if the orcs are this big, can't wait to see the tuarin. The acting was bad, very bad, laughably bad in some cases. Garona was so bad it caused my physical pain. And the stormwind guards looked like bad cosplayers. Oh and was anyone else annoyed by how ray the humans killed the orcs? I mean they are intelligent, polar bear sized, bread from birth war machines riding enormous seemingly dog level intelligent monster wolves...

I'm an orc fan mostly due to warhammer but they where pretty spot on in warcraft compared to humans (From size to strength).
Hope they show some undead next time. They are the truly fucked up race imho.
It's also not a WoW movie....
