    a few questions

    1. I assume it has to be a game that is out this year, not a game that i just got around to playing this year. aka (best game I have played this year might not be a game that was ever released this year)

    2. most important, does early access games count? because that is almost the only think I play anymore

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Going to go with Overwatch, since that's what I am playing now. Even though I think it needs a campaign, the multiplayer is enough to make it the funnest game I have played that was released in 2016 so far.
Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile

Game of the year of course is EVE, new Citadel expansion, Goons obliterated in a Galactic uprising, the choice is clear in my mind.

Oh thats right, EVE isn't a game, it's a virtual world. Nevermind. ;)

    So nothing from 2016?
no and that is because I am still putting in my hours in games that are not from 2016. In fact that is the downside for the types of gaming I advocate. if one likes them they will likely play them for a very long time which of course means less revenue for new projects because gamers like me can get a lifetime out of about 10 titles total

Game of the year or MMO of the year? The only one I've been remotely impressed with is Witcher 3.

Dark Souls 3 so far, special mention goes to Darkest Dungeon and Total War Warhammer.

Love TW Warhammer, but I'm thinking I might have to try myself some Darkest Dungeon.

Uncharted 4 and Overwatch. I can't pick one of them.

For me, it's probably Thea: The Awakening.  Technically, it was released in Nov. 2015, but the first major DLC / free patch / additional content, Return of the Giants, came out in April of this year.  A very nice RP / survival game.  What makes it unique is the completeness the game was delivered with.  Very much worth the discounted price I paid ($15.00,I think).

Probably Uncharted 4 for me, even though I haven't finished it yet. The other 2016 releases I've played and enjoyed were Quantum Break and Unravel...other than that my 2016 gaming has been spent on 2015 games like Fallout 4 and Ori and the Blind Forest.

Im going to have to go with Conan Exiles and Battlefield 1. since both are not out yet they have not disappointed me yet, so for right now they are my favorite games.

I don't think I've bought and played any that released in 2016 TBH.. I'm drawing a complete blank in terms of titles that released since January.

    I'd have to say ESO:

    Thieves Guild
    Dark Brotherhood
    Veteran Rank removal

    and later this year:
    Housing
    One Tamriel

    For the future TBD:
    Battlegrounds

There's just so many good things happening in this game, they really deserve praise for their hard work.

Darkest dungeon was the first new game I played this year and when I was done with it I felt almost certain its going to be my game of the year. Absolutely loved the game.

Dark souls 3 was good, probably would have been my game of the year if I hadn't played the previous installments.

Still hve to play bunch of games that has come out but I doubt they will come anywhere close to those two.

    Dark Souls 3 for me.

I have not played Blood and Wine but considering that Witcher 3 was my GotY 2015, and that B&W is as lengthy as a full game, im sure it might be GotY material by itself too.

No MMORPG even comes remotely close to qualifying for 'game of the year' accolades. This genre is a dumpster fire at the moment.
