Minecraft is simply amazing. What a genius game if you think about it. It continues to make money hand over fist. Just amazes me
Not only that but GTAV is always on this list. That thing sells like mad. After a while it is like "Who does NOT own this by now?"
GTA V is one of those games, it would not surprise me at all if people own more than one copy of the game, one for PC and one for whatever Console they prefer.

Heh "raises hand" i do not own or have ever played GTA V. I think i played one of the early ones..1 or 2? Can not remember on what platform. Just did not care for it so never tried any of the other later ones.
Heh, matter of fact..i have not played any of those top 10. Only one i may some day is Minecraft. I really enjoyed Terraria, heard it was close to same type of a game as minecraft.
If this is all retail sales than this is a pointless list. Almost all game sales are digital now, especially on PC. On PC if you go to the store and see the section it's like 15 games, 5 of which are blizzard games / expansions. On consoles it's a little better but honestly I feel like a lot of people are buying digitally on consoles as well.

Lol, I'm definitely one of those people.
Bought it on 360 when it first came out, played the shit out of it and loved it. Think I completed the story twice within a month, then spent another few months doing all the side stuff and just having a laugh.
Then when it released on PC I got it again. The graphical improvements were enough to make it worth it, being able to use mouse + keyboard in combat was great, but also having access to online content made a big difference too (my 360 never had internet).
Just such a good game all round. The 3 characters are great, especially Trevor. The storylines are the best in the series in my opinion (i usually disliked the stories, but actually enjoyed parts of gta5). The gameplay is standard GTA, which means gratuitous, arcadey fun. The world is the best I've played in for a GTA game too. I often find myself just jumping in a plane and flying around to look at the scenery: sunsets over mt chiliad look fantastic from the air.

I don't own GTA.
It is in the same category as GoT for me: pointless, cruel, completely immoral shit.
To be quite honest, I never fully understood the appeal of GTA. But then again I never liked Goodfelas, Godfather and the like. Notice a patten?
Wow, I wrote a similar post but then didn't submit it because I didn't feel like dealing with naysayers. I feel the GTA series is completely morally bankrupt. In GTA you're playing a thieving, drug dealing womanizer who is basically a lackey for the underbelly of society.
Personally, I avoid that stuff. I prefer to be the hero, not the guy that I would shoot if I caught him in my driveway trying to jack my Z34.

True story; my sister played GTA:VC for a while: she just enjoyed riding a moped around the city. Just being a nice person.
It was interesting watching her play the game in a way it was totally not intended for, and still deriving enjoyment from it.

Must agree that Minecraft being still even in the top ten is simply stupefying.
If you think Minecraft is truly amazing (and you aren't saying 'wow I can't believe it because it's a terrible game') then you need to check out Dwarf Fortress!
It's far less accessible! Far more byzantine and intricate!

yes. and its a building/crafting game
Gamers often tell me there is not a demand for building/crafting games or games without violence and yet Minecraft and the Sims sell like crazy but the industry doesnt seem to think its worth making more games like them
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Are you serious? There are a bazillion building crafting games. Even Fallout 4 has a building mode.
sorry I am talking non-early access games and no there isnt many crafting/building games in non-early access and no empire games is not the building style I am refering to
fallout 4 is just following the early access trend in building, from my understanding its very basic form

Amazing that it's in the #2 spot almost 3 years after release.
I bought it for PS3 a while after it was released and was about 1/4 the way through when they announced the PC version. I quit playing and waited in anticipation

We have a copy on Steam and when we got a PS4 my son wanted to play online with his friends so we got the second copy. They played the game a lot and still do a bit, but they've done most everything and have bought yachts, jets, an array of sports cars, APCs, etc.
It's not really my thing. I don't like the hoodlum / criminal theme, but the stories themselves are pretty interesting. Watching my son play and hearing the exploits was enough.
I really love the driving part of the game, could care less about the combat. Puts Need for Speed to utter shame.

OK its for me. Yes I'm weird but its star wars with legos I mean c'mon...
The only GTA I've owned was the first. It was ok, but when it comes to games I've never been a fan of games set in modern day.
