You guys gotta learn about the hype monster, don't let your imagination take over. It's not what they say about the game but what they're not saying.
NMS was really taken to the "AAA" level of expectation, with also a full price for one on it, takes expectations of people on that point already too unreasonable levels.
One if not the biggest friction topic is Multiplayer, on witch it should be have been clarified longer ago, it just lead to tons of media attention about NMS being multiplayer, up to some people expecting one MMO... The devs here really should have made this "black and white", i kept saying over time this was a drama waiting to happen once the release... =/
The only thing I remember them saying about multi player was that it would be a long time before players met. I didn't realize they were talking about possible future updates for multi player. All the reviews and player videos showed the same thing. Flying around in the universe going from planet to planet which meant that was all they had. Anything else was in the player's imagination brought on by hype. I didn't see anything worth playing which is why I waited till after launch to be sure.

I think there was a big flaw on understanding when the developer replied that question that was about you could see other players (that already happened and they can't as reported), that far i understand what you could see is other characters (NPCS) not as one proper online character of other player. So i think it were situations like that that fed some people expectations on this topic.
From the very beginning, I thought it was a single player game, that was purely about exploring, and didn't really expect much else in it. I was a bit baffled by all the hype and what others said the game was going to be because none of that info was out there.
I haven't gotten the game yet. I intend to get it once its in the bargain bin because I have such a backlog of games. From what I can gather, the game has turned out exactly as I thought it would, and by the time I do get it, should run a lot smoother, and may even have more to it than I expected.
Still playing and gathering info about the game, need at a minimum 100hrs before I'll do a review. So still lots of game play left. So far the game has me hooked. It runs great, looks great(love the art direction), and the game play is pretty solid. It's one of the funnest games I've come across this past year.
I'd love to know which of our beloved MMORPG posters honestly thought there was going to be some multi-player component out of the box (that warranted any form of outrage for it not being there). Every single gameplay video I've seen doesn't show this. It was repeatedly said how low of a chance it was for any player to bump into each other yet some how, this happened...

"As far as the forum code of conduct, I would think it's a bit outdated and in need of a refre *CLOSED*"
My primary gripes thus far, other than the fact that the game seems incomplete, is the lack of multiplayer and the lack of crafting. Sure, you gather your materials to upgrade your ship, exosuit, and tool, but lets be honest; the upgrades don't change much from your current ship/tool to the next higher slot one. So what do you have after that? An exploration game with some story and light combat.
Honestly, the game should have been in development another year, with the hopes of getting some form of multiplayer and improved crafting. I mean seriously, at the very least, we should be able to build and design our own ships (with a toolset of course of building blocks). Also, what, no base building???

The thing is all the player videos after that found no other players. There is always a difference between the planned project and the final project, they may still have multiplayer but it could take up to a year to get it.

There is quite a complex story here towards this. I always understood as No MP but more than understanding it, i saw people mis-understanding it. Man this is quite the the hot potato when i saw a compilation just days old with almost 400K views accusing the dev of lies.
However how complex the whole MP explanations became during 2015, on 2014 this quote was the one i always based myself on “I guess the whole of the entire community could organize to go to one specific spot and then they would find that they weren't all there at the same time.”"
OMG enough with the MP they said it would be so rare as to nearly impossible to run into another player why can you people not accept that??!! Where is the dysfunction in you people that you can not get your head around the FACT that MP is just rare not repeat NOT non existent. Just because two attention seekers that if you watch the video again one is in daytime and one is in night just wanted to cause a rukus so they could get youtube hits and make money off your stupidity.

Okay let's clarify something here...
It's about they said and about what's the reality. People already RAN at each other on this game, on the exact same spot, yet they were not able to see each other. That was the part people simply did not understood, people expect if they were on the same place as other player they would see that player, as rare that would be.
So i think you mis-understood... the rare occasion that would be of being on the same place as another player remains there, now that you will see each-other on the same location was shown as currently not possible and it may be a plan for future updates.
But hey is possible what happened when players tried to meet on the same spot and couldn't see each other was some bug instead.
Still playing and gathering info about the game, need at a minimum 100hrs before I'll do a review. So still lots of game play left. So far the game has me hooked. So far I too have enjoyed every minute of NMS. Playing on PC and I'm glad I haven't run into any if the technical issues some PC players have run into.
Not a single technical hiccup, absolutely loving the game and hate logging off. 20 hours in and only been on 3 planets because there is no much exploration to do. People who do 10 planets an hour are really not getting it. Game is amazing now and can't wait for them to keep updating and bringing us even more. I don't play anything else now.
I know there are cold planets, but has anyone been to a planet that is made up of a strong majority lava?
Yes there are hot planets, and really radioactive ones, plus super toxic ones - so toxic that the very air starts damaging your exosuit as soon as you excite your spacecraft.

There is no multiplayer, hence you cannot meet another player in the game. That means it is not just 'rare' but 'nonexistent' Its listed as a Single Player game The Devs have said its a Single Player game Why do you find that so hard to believe, that it is in fact a Single Player game?

Sounds like you were one of the lucky ones, me, i don't have that kind of confidence in my luck, so i'll wait until i know the game is working fine for most people, i'd rather do that than have a degraded gaming experience, particularly as the numbers affected seems to be fairly high, even after the 18mb patch, hopefully they fix the game quickly.
From what I see, the people having problems were mainly those playing on or before the first official day of release. There were three patches within the first twenty four hours that cured it for most of us. You can see the improvements that have been made by all the people that have been saying they're playing without problems since then. Me included.

Well the game has only been out 4 days, as soon as we start seeing reviewers etc showing the game working properly, then i'll believe it is in fact fixed, i'm patient i can wait for confirmation.
This morning i finally got the chance to install NMS, having it pre ordered a while back. Only to find out that the game does not support AMD Phenom II quad core CPU's.....
Which leaves me in a difficult situation having paid 60 euros for a game which doesn't work on my PC. Now, there is a workaround to make it work but i won't bother with alchemy solutions. Not for a 60 euro game.
How can someone release and charge 60 euros for a product with such a severe flaw is beyond my comprehension. In my book this is borderline scam.
I'm trying to decide if i'll wait for a fix or ask for a refund. I'm inclined towards the later.

That's awful! Have you written them to see if support for your PC CPU will be added in a reasonable amount of time? Otherwise, I'm with you: Get a refund.

Phenom II CPUs will be supported in the patch this week but don't expect
very good performance the game is very CPU bound and runs bad even on
high end CPUs and i doubt that will change much so a Phenom II won't cut it either way, personally i would
just refund the game it's not worth 60$ even if it worked on your CPU

Currently older AMD Phenom CPUs (and some Intel as well i think) do not support SSE 4.1, which causes the title to crash. We’re testing a fix for this.
I am sure it will get patched, has happened to some other recent games as well. And they got patched to run on those systems.
Anyhow, either wait, or get a refund if you can, and do not want to wait. One of those things that slip through the cracks on smaller dev teams. Not enough QA or testing systems.

Well to be honest and in their defense. the AMD Phenom II CPU has not been on sale for the last 5 years. Last sale "official" date (at least over here) was 2011.
It was a bit of a strange CPU. It also uses the old AM3 socket as opposed of the new AM3+/FM2+ socket. The Phenom II also didn't support a lot of instruction sets, that the Athlon series for example do support.
So if NMS makes use of some of these instruction sets, which it apparently does, then you are simply out of luck!
It is annoying. Yes. I can fully understand your frustration, but you would have been better of going for the Athlon FX in the first Place, as it's AMD's mainstream CPU.

You buy a petrol car and put diesel in, what do you expect? Read the info before you buy and you'll have been happy now.

My biggest issue right now is that the UI feels terrible on PC. The mouselook feels really weird and the FOV even when maxed out doesnt feel right.
Not much to do but I am still enjoying the game.

Total Biscuits experience of the game was 'informative' though he did go a bit Angry Joe at times.

I mean, just look at the AMD page: http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/processors/desktop
The Phemon II is simply no longer supported and considered Legacy.
