I find the hype around game re-mastering to be offensive. By that I mean I wish developers would work on new content. This technology around gaming over the past 20 years has barely even scratched the surface of what can be done. but they appear to take the lazy road AND hype it

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

I'm still pretty pissed that it took this long for a PC release of a game that shipped 14 million copies by 2015. As much as I'd like to play it, I'm not really interested in rewarding the behavior of fucking over PC gamers (from what I read, due to "risk of piracy") or remastering (most) games. Why Skyrim and Red Dead? Why not remaster something older, that actually needs a visual update?

Because it'd require too much effort, that's why.

Normally I might agree with that but this is Red Dead Redemption. Not enough good old west games have been made and this is arguably the best one ever made.  If any game screamed for a remaster for modern hardware it is this game.
that is EXACTLY why new different western games need to be made, not rehash the one of about two.

I wonder how many of these fans have played Call of Juarez even.

CoJ pales in comparison to RDR. This is the best Western game ever.
out of literally about a bucket of what? 3 games.

3 that I can think of

there DESPERATLY needs to be more, not the same over again

Wonder if they gave it some love like they did with GTA V

    Be awesome if they did.

Strange they're not doing a XB1/Win10 release. I hope the PC version isn't Steam exclusive. If it is then I may just get it on the PS4 instead.
I bought GTA V straight through RockStar, no Steam involved.

Well, not really being a console player, I'm very glad that they are not only remastering it but making it available for PC.

I've wanted to play this game since it was released. Now I can.

PC as well? It's about damn time the game gets a PC release! My favorite Rockstar game by far.
yeah that doesnt work well with me. simply the same game, better graphics and oh you can play it with a mouse and keyboard now instead of a controller but likely your going to wish you where playing it with a controller.

this whole 'yeah but the game is now available for PC' is WAY overblown in its impressiveness by like light years

Rumors have been swirling for a while concerning a Red Dead 2. Hopefully there is some substance to them.

There is a lot of space for frontier style themes. But I think actual 19th Century American west is a fairly restrictive and niche setting. They can either whitewash history and go for the Disney effect, or they can deal with the subject matter seriously and that can get awkward fast.

There is really only so much room for what can be done with the setting. Now frontier settings divorced from geography and reality have a lot of potential.
its about a 'niche' as zombies are in my view but less so.

There is a modern myth that the whole Indian thing is a no sell to the theme and/or not possible if its marginalized in the story to near unimportance.

All I can say is Hell on Wheels is a FANTASTIC show

and I can think of about 3 modern westerns that are FANTASTIC movies that also do not even have Indians in them at all

I'm in agreement towards more western themed games. This one was easily one of my favorite gamin experiences, and stands to be one of only 3 open world games I've managed to finish.

    and the thing is:

    1. a lot of different and very compelling Froniter style games could be created without even coming close to touching native american history.

    2. even if you did they are not nearly as offended by it as people think

Why do you continually hijack threads with an agenda? Can't people just talk positively about a great game, (possibly) finally coming to PC and be happy?
your overblowing this and frankly being difficult.

I'm sure it will have controller support, so like other games that are meant to be played with a controller I'll be playing with my DS4.

It being available on PC might not be that interesting to those who've already played it on a console years ago, though there seems to be quite a few of us in this thread. However, I'd say it's impressive to those who have never played the game but have wanted to.

You may not care, but it's unreasonable to think that no one should care.
to be fair i think the only people who are getting excited about this coming to PC are people who have already played it.

I am one of the people who have not, I am not excited about it coming to PC. So I would love to learn who these people actually are.

IMO Red Dead is too fresh for a remake, it just needs a port with some improvements like higher framerate. Rockstar should remake Oni instead. I would buy an Oni remake/reboot in an instant.

Then stop attacking the post! Leave the thread and go talk about how much you hate AAA and how much better an Indie is over what ever game some else likes or enjoys. Or go talk about VR again. I mean come on! You are SO negative ALL the time

Interesting. Skyrim is newer than RDR. I think a great remaster is a good idea.
Yupp, i think Bethesda should have remastered older titles like morrowind, and just port/polish Skyrim to current gen. I hope both Rockstar(Oni) and Bethesda(classic TES) do that in the future.
