The Nintendo Switch looks good, and Nintendo playing to their strengths by releasing it as a hybrid home/portable system.
I'll definately be buying one as my youngest son loves our aging Wii.

I don't really get this product. Somehow it looks dated. It is tailored made for Japanes/Korean people who plays games on the go, not so sure in the West. The WII with his interactivity was a breath of fresh air in the Console Market, playing games using player bodies was a great idea. But I can't see Switch big selling point.
Kids now like to play on the Tablets, they don't need a portable console and teens and adults want powerful consoles with cutting edge graphics. If it's well priced I might see this as a second console but I can't see people choosing this over an Xbox or a PS. Now if the portable console would also act as a phone I could see this thing being popular, but as it is it's a very limited product.

Having kids and being able to take this on the go is a win. Will it appeal to hardcore gamers..... maybe not?? The family console appeal is there in spades and it looks like thats what they are going for.

Yeh, took the 3ds yesterday for my kid on visit. Today I realized the
is gone
Hope the switch controller on the sides got a beeper or something
This is just the PSP from over 12 years ago, but updated. Jesus christ it failed 12 years ago for sony, what makes them think this is any different?. Nothing about this looks promising at all. Sorry. The psp was a novetly 12 years ago. What makes Nintendo think anybody wants to lug around a relatively big console around on the tube, bus or anywhere again like they did with the PSP?
I love Miyamoto.. I love Zelda.. But really the Wii U should have taught them that tablet kind of consoles aren't a good idea.
@Dragnelus Yeah I know that problem. The 6 year old from next door always wants to play on my 3ds and then I have to go looking for the pen when she is done...

I am trying to understand here cause I really can't see this as a Family Console, unlike the WII which obviously was. What is about this product that make you scream "I must have it!" It doesn't have a Motion Sensor like the WII, it doesn't include new technology (3D Headset), it looks like a phone but it is not a phone, you can't watch movies on it, and it is not as powerful as an Xbox or a PS.
It is a glorified PSP as someone already stated, it is a dated concept. Tablets and Phones already do a good job as portable game consoles but they have an added bonus they can be used as phones and Internet Browser not to mention the many Apps which people are so depending nowadays.
Do you really think people would walk around with a Smart Phone in one pocket and the Switch on the other? Again, what is the selling point of this product? To me this is a step backward from the WII which actually was a great Family Console.
I can load up my son, grab the unit and go. Take the one hour ( or 6 hour ) trip to see the grandparents, to the beach, or whatever and have a compact portable unit that the kids can play solo or MP. I can sit in the back seat and play mario cart with my son while my wife drives if i wanted.
I could always go out and buy a couple of 3DS units and do almost if not exactly the same thing. But I currently dont have any portable units and instead I will just wait and buy one of these.
I have a gaming PC, PS pro, and an xbox one for my adult gaming needs. For the time spent while the kids are awake and i am spending time with them this seems like a solid choice.

I believe it can do more than having a 3DS. For instance you can play the same game on your TV and on your mobile device version.
My main gripe with Nintendo products is they are never ergonomic. I had the 3DS for a while and it is almost a perfect rectangle. The circle pad can hurt your thumb after a while if you use it. It also lacks a right analog stick aside from the new 3DS and that one is fairly bad. The Nintendo consoles often have poorly built controllers. I've been using them since the original Nintendo came out.
With that said I have always loved Nintendo games and Japanese style games. I hope they bring games like Dragon Quest 7 remake to the new console. Right now people can only play them on mobile devices. The last Dragon Quest game on console was Dragon Quest 8 for PS2. I also like the classics such as Mario, Metroid, and Legend of Zelda.
Graphics aren't essential for me at this point in my life. I'm more concerned about comfort and fun. Mobile devices can often lack in terms of being comfortable to use and I don't like to have a device right on top of me. Likewise having the best graphics matters little if it means your room is going to heat up to an unhealthy level. I find the best way to play games is to have your TV positioned in the right place, have the console/computer a fair distance from you, and use a comfortable controller that doesn't put much stress on the arms or hands. It also helps to be in a relaxed position like being reclined. Some positions can put a lot of stress on various parts of the body.
This whole thing just cements my belief that Nintendo is utterly incapable of innovation or competition within the larger gaming world, this won't increase their user base or be attractive outside of their loyal fans. This is just a rehash of old ideas, and is once again an underpowered and inferior product right from the launch.
My kids play PC and Xbox games. Portability has zero appeal for me, as when we go camping or on a vacation - no electronics.
so yeah, not for me
I can agree with that to a certain extent.
My kids wont be playing with any electronics at the christmas family dinner. But the next day when we are all just basically bumming and getting fat on too much food having something like that around will be nice.
It would also be nice for something to do on the 6-7 hour drive to my wifes parents we make several times a year. Plus I can hook it up to a TV wherever we are if I so choose, then get home and put it back on our TV.
Will I have to pry it out of my kids hands when we camp, or fish, hike, bike, ect ?? of course not.
Will this console have mass appeal and sell 80 million units in 12 months? Probably not, but hopefully they can have some success with the targeted audience. Either way I guess we will be finding out soon how it turns out.

I dont even know how he lost it, he only played mario bros 2, you don't need to pen for it

The first part he's playing an iphone game. The second part he's playing the zelda on the switch. The graphics are garbage.
