But the fact that your busy all day doesn't mean you are an adult. Your maturity may be advanced for 15 but that doesn't mean your an adult. I too wish I could play Roma Victor tonight when I get home, I wouldn't have signed up for the contest if I didn't. I too wish they would get us in. But I am used to the real world where dissapointment is the rule, not the exception. My Dad always taught me to expect the worst and hope for the best.

People people people, Maximos is right, we should all drop the subject right now and wait to see what's really happening at RB.
Some of us are saying the beta was a scam and a publicity stunt, without any proof for now.
Others are saying it's only because of a technical problem and they did have good intentions, again without any proof.
I am more for the later but still i don't have any proof of it, so i'll wait till the beta begins. If we get to test the game for more than a month than NO it wasn't a scam. If, on the otherhand, we only get to "test" for 2 weeks or so than YES, it was a scam.
Either way, NONE of us are holding the truth right now and we are ALL speculating on the situation. Flaming and name calling will not resolve anything and has no place on these forums. Let the time show us what is really happening and let's all behave like responsible adults, even if you don't meet the legal age requirment to be considered as an adult.

The following is not assumption, or conjecture. Nor are they allegations of any sort. A company held a contest. The contest was held months ago. they have yet delivered on the contest. Now the following is my perspective on the aforementioned events.
I understand people like to root for the underdog, but the underdog's values aren't always different from the big dogs. They too posess the ability to be dishonest, and insincere. RB has made empty promises. This leads me to predict in the future, they will make more empty promises. Empty promises are a bad thing. It's irrelevant what sort of life anyone lives, that does not change a company's course of actions(though I am genuinely impressed). Several know how much I was looking forward to this game, but the actions of the company have led me to believe it will not be revolutionary or genre altering as I had previously hoped. I would more soon hand my non-existent beta account to someone on the RV forums before I cancel it. Though rest assured, I am going to take a look at the game before that happens. We are all curious as to how the game has developed in such a stress free enviroment (since the team does not deem potential customers of great importance, or I would imagine that by thus far Actions. Talk is cheap.). There is no reason to fuss or flame.
My definition of a fanboy is one who blindly loves a game and fiercely defends it. They take alleigance with their game and would die with it, until they decide to quit the game, then they would gladly kill it.

Let's just wait and see if they really were empty promises. As far as i recall, they didn't give us a specific date of when we'd be let in the beta. The only time they gave us a timeframe was in that e-mail we got, wich we were then told some major problems occured.

Hm..."the contest was held months ago" when it only ended a month and a half ago, but started two and a half months ago...not sure if how you put that was right or not.
Empty promises? I think all the ones you're mentioning would be summed up as "The contest winners will get a beta account," which we now believe will be given in about a week. Though...I'm not sure if you had any other fuel for the fire.
On a more positive point though, I'm glad you say you'll try the game out before finalizing your opinion towards the game and its developers

Our strategy is to work on each feature's implementation on Alpha, then add it to Beta for a bit of intensive testing and then, when we're all happy with it, we add it to the Gamma server, where it needs further testing to ensure nothing has messed up along the way. Now we wanted to add the contest winners in just as we made the Gamma server available - frankly we'll soon need its greater capacity to cope with the growing test team. However one thing led to another and we kept having to postpone the Gamma rollout. Now it's looking like it's going to pretty much coincide with a major client update that we're also about ready with. So we've decided to wait until all the heavenly bodies are in alignment - in other words when both Gamma's up and the new client update has been patched out - before we let the contest winners in. Please do accept my apologies contest winners but to be perfectly honest you haven't missed much - the test has been pretty spotty over the last couple of weeks largely due to us thundering around breaking things. I'm afraid it seems that we're in obsessed with breaking things at the moment - the more we break now, the less breaks later. You can get addicted to bug squashing. I really can vouch for that. Anyway, thanks again for the patience. The client update should be patched out during the coming weekend and the Gamma server is due to be made available during the following weekend and I honestly can't see us letting much get in the way of those deadlines. By way of a more substantial apology for the delay we'll issue a beautiful bronze shield to the Gamma server characters of each contest winner as and when they manage to finally join us in the game. With a bit of luck I'll even let you hit me in the face with it.

As I mentioned in my previous post we were waiting on two major steps - a new client update and the gamma server being made available. The new client update was patched out today and it seems to have gone quite smoothly. We're installing the hardware for the gamma servers on thursday but due to the fact that we use some pretty cutting edge stuff (dual-core opterons running AMD64 optmised code), we're still facing a fair bit of configuration before we can run the gamma server up fully. We are still hoping for it to be available for the coming weekend but depending upon how things work out for us there might be an additional delay of a couple of days or so. As soon as we have a firm idea on when gamma will be available I'll pop back here and let you know - the contest winners will be added in straight away at that time.
Thanks KFR, I hope you'll take all the frustrated posts as what they are: people are really interested in this game and it's a little like christmas being delayed for them. Hope things go smoothely for you this week.
