Group Grinding - Everquest. Why? It provided a social outlet while grinding.
Solo Grinding? None.
I am a player who doesn't mind the grind as long as it's masked properly. What I mean is, am I having fun while doing it? Do I follow a singular rotation while doing it? Are the combat mechanics fun while grinding? If all of those answers are yes, then I don't mind the grind.
I used to play Eve back when I was working on my masters. I didnt really play it like a game, I just found a .9 system out of the way from everything and would just park the hulk and mine. There was something about the visuals and sound of the mining lasers that made it much easier to read and study for long periods. I didnt even keep the ore, I ejected it, LOL. I must have spewed millions of trit out into space over that period of time.
Earlier this year I was grinding out alchemy in Black Desert Online. I dont have much time for gaming now a days but I could just jump in for a few minutes and plant something and then go back later and farm it up.
"Sean (Murray) saying MP will be in the game is not remotely close to evidence that at the point of purchase people thought there was MP in the game." - SEANMCAD

I used to mine in Darkfall when I was marking papers. It made me feel more productive.
