As great as it may be, it's not enough to encourage me to buy a PS4. In this day and age, platform "exclusive" titles are silly, particularly with the availability of controllers for PC. I'll wait for a Steam port however many years, if ever, it happens.

    I do not agree.

Sony has never put their games on PC. This is going all the way back to the very first Playstation. People should already know this.

PS4 right now is out selling PS2 which was the best selling console of all time.

The reason is because they keep their games on their platform. :-)

Well, guess I'll just put that 4-500 bucks in my pocket for a PC upgrade or a flight to some exotic location and a few margaritas. :P

And...am I wrong in thinking that there are more than a few Sonic games are on Steam?
Surprised to read that from a gamer. I am personally gaming agnostic. I could care less what system has what game. I buy them all. A PS4 will run you only $250, it really is cheap.
    $400 to $500 will get you a One and a PS4.
The PS4 started slow (game wise) but the games have really picked up.
Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us are masterpieces of game design and it is a shame fans of video games will not play them simple because of the platform they are on.

In a backwards kind of way you're sort of supporting Suzie's initial post in this thread where she said platform exclusive titles are silly. If it's so easy to get around it with small amounts of cash to buy all the platforms, just who the hell are they excluding other than the severely cash-strapped gamers?

Maybe some console fanboys get off on having exclusives for their one and only precious but it IS an outdated silly system.
Platform exclusives have their place in my opinion. Halo is funded by Microsoft so I can not imagine them placing it on Sony's machine just because.
On the other side Sony has an exclusive deal  for the Uncharted series and honestly I am not sure the Xbox One could even run Uncharted 4 even more so G.G.'s Horizon.
Nintendo is the king of exclusive titles and their controllers and their game's usage of said controllers, make for porting an issue in many cases.
In console gaming there is a higher end console a gimmicky console and a middle ground.
With Xbox being the middle ground you do see many games for Xbox One ported to Windows 10. Play anywhere titles like Forza, Gears 4 and Recore.
With Sony games many can't run well on lesser hardware so porting to Xbox just to do it does not make sense. On the lower end side, Nintendo relies on motion controllers and more gimmick based setups like the WiiU controller that do not port well to a console not designed that way.
Variety is the spice of life. Even in consoles.
I agree, as much as exclusive titles suck from a gamer standpoint, they do have their place. Nintendo's consoles are basically kept alive by exclusive titles alone, and I can't imagine playing Super Mario Kart on a PS4 or Xbox. I'd rather not see Nintendo drop their console division either, cause look how well that turned out for Sega. I can't recall playing many Sega games since the Dreamcast was killed off.

I have a nice PC, PS4 and a WiiU. I've had good experiences with a wide variety of games because of the consoles I own. While I am a primarily PC gamer, there's plenty of games for the consoles that keep me more than satisfied.

Hell, just up until recently, JRPGs have been console/handheld exclusive. If you were a fan of the JRPG you had to own a console at the very least.

Maybe 10 years ago the HW in different consoles were different enough that some games that ran on the PS3 would struggle on the XB but these days we're talking about virtually identical HW and specs.

I don't buy your guess that Uncharted 4 or anything else that runs on the PS4 could not easily also run on XONE or on PCs since both the PS4 and XONE are nothing but AMD-based PCs anyway. Nintendo is a whole different matter.

Exclusivity is done simply to attract customers to a console ecosystem and often, for kids anyway, keep them there to the exclusion of the competitor's system. But like you say, working adult gamers can just buy them all.

Same. About the only games I buy for the PS4 are the EA NHL franchise every couple of years because they stopped making them for the PC a few years back. Other than that, it's mostly just my Netflix machine :)

You don't have to buy the fact that some games would not run on the Xbox One that run on the PS4 loads of tests have already been done that prove the PS4 is a more powerful machine with higher specs than the Xbox One.
It is not guessing. Many developers who work on both have said so. ;)
Also Japanese developers are more inclined to put their games on the Sony machine as the Xbox One does not sell at all in the East. Basic economics.
I know all about the specs it's why I bought the PS4 myself lol. But the differences are not that big unless you want to emphasize them for the sake of an argument. There are plenty of titles that run on both in nearly identical fashion.

Next you'll be telling us why Halo can't run on a PS4 :)

I actually play my XONE way more then my ps4 now traded in for ps4 pro. I just like the exclusives more for XONE. Sea of Thieves is one I can t wait for.

PS seems to pop out mostly shooter exclusives.

No the Xbox is the middle player so their games can run on both. It has been proven over and over again that the PS4 can run games at 1080P at 30 FPS while the Xbox will run the same game over and over at 720 to 900P at 30 frames a second. Now take a game like Horizon which runs at a minimum of 1080 (and up to 2K on the Pro) at 30 FPS. Try and put that on the Xbox One and you are not going to be able to run it at the minimum of 30 FPS.

    We can agree to disagree.

    1080P vs 900P ;)
Dynamic resolution shifting between 900p and 1080p, but whatever... playable on both.

So if PS4 exclusives are done that way because of the superior HW, why do XONE exclusives exists then?

Of course. It ain't exactly rocket science and something Apple did for many years with their closed system. It's all about making you a customer of their system. For consoles, exclusive games do that - at least for those people who only buy one console instead of all of them :)

I'm noticing the xbox is doing a better job overall.  You can look at the walls while riding through town.  The Xbox shows details the ps4 fails to enhance untill you are right on top of it.  So you can see the bricks in the wall at 40 meters with xbox and the ps4 you have to be 10 meters before it renders the bricks.
Are you onto something or just on something?
