I don't particularly follow this game. I'd like to play it, but I am going to wait for a finished prodcut and evaluate it's value to me at that time. Do I think the game is going to "deliver"? I have serious doubts. As for anything else, I only have this to say.........
There are certain other people who have made predictions about the collapse of this project.......what year was it when we were told it would implode in 90 days?
IT's still around, so someone made a minor miscalculation there.
Any single feature that has been discussed in itself is not revolutionary. You could find some example of it already in another application.
What is truly revolutionary about what SC is doing is the combination of all off those unique elements under one umbrella.
If you take the magnitude of scale of each of the planets + the gravitational modeling + newtonian physics + flight simulation + first person combat simulation + subsumption AI.. + feature x,y,z that I have not bothered to list all on top of an engine that was heavily modified to shift from 32bit to 64bit precision with a level of graphic and audio fidelity unseen in other multiplayer games.
If you look at the sum of the pieces planed and released the game is revolutionary.

very good answer, very good understanding of the core question.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
Its always cute watching the fans talk about this like its a real game or something. Go watch Pinocchio the ending is much better....
The point is that Rodarin cannot understand that we already play Star Citizen for years now and many (including me) do enjoy playing it already. Even if it is not yet the full game.

Have fun
because its disingenuous tripe. there is simply not enough to do to enjoy it for very long, it isnt even a shell. what it has would take a'normal' person about 3 or 4 hours to experience and an abnormal one might subject themselves to a week (20-30 hrs) before they wanted to rip their eyes out.
Even if you went full RP nerd on it there isnt enough to even do that properly. How many times can you roleplay something in the hanger or on the flight pads?
We get it you will say and type anything to put lipstick on this pig but dont be so intellectually dishonest in your (mis)representation of what this project is and more importantly what it isnt. It makes everything you type that much less valid every time you type that nonsense.

Lol 3-4 hours is the time it would take you just to configure your keybindings and learn how to fly/shoot stuff...
I personally know people who've spent more time just exploring a Starfarer than playing other games altogether lol
There's people who play Elite for years now and others that drop it after a couple of hours so...
Chris Roberts approach to Star Citizen is that the 'bottom line' isn't the main concern or focus. Coupled with a revolutionary approach to development and fund raising means that Chris Roberts is able to push the boundaries of game development and design within the industry.

Everything about Star Citizen is revolutionary.
LOL how the hell do you know that? There isnt enough in existence to come close to making that claim. Even what they have that is industry STANDARD is a complete mess.
It is simply amazing how deluded you guys have made yourselves when it comes to this whole thing.
In the end they will be lucky to get some hatchet job pay to win piece of shit working long enough to monetize. But then again they dont have to even do that, they have everything leading up to whatever this thing is allegedly going to be monetized. I am shocked they dont have paid forums yet. Or maybe there are and thats what the sub fee for 'information' gets you. But that really takes the cake, they have a sub PRIOR to anything and its not even to a game its to 'information'.

Pretty sure there's a subscriber only forum or at least there was in the old forums
Star Citizen's approach to fund raising may be revolutionary, but I don't really think that's a compliment in this case. Especially if "Chris Roberts approach to Star Citizen is that the 'bottom line' isn't the main concern or focus" is meant to be a compliment, in which case Star Citizen's approach to fund raising does a lot to give off appearances of the exact opposite of that.

I dont even think their 'fund raising' is revolutionary. Every grifter has big ideas they just need enough people to be naive enough to believe their stories. All he is doing is finding the exact right group of people with just enough mass delusion to get them to buy jpegs for thousands and thousands of dollars, pay for a subscription to a website to a project that is supposedly making a game (well two now I guess) when the subscription model for games themselves is dead, make movies and call them gameplay videos, get caught half a dozen times 'faking' them and still have people believe every claim they make year in and year out despite the actual facts that 'progression' in development is and has been at a complete stand still (going backwards if you think what they have shown on those convention videos is indicative of what they are able to do when they say they can do it).
But like I said I dont believe half the rhetoric or hyperbole associated with this fiasco now. I really think those numbers they keep citing as 'money raised' is them leeching out random amounts from money they had borrowed or had invested and not from actual 'citizens'. I know there are a lot of naive people in the world but I cant see this thing continually pulling in 10s of thousands of dollars on a daily basis with the way its been going.
I truly think these guys had some major investors back a few years ago, kept it quiet and continued the fairy tale that it was all still player driven. They also probably took some loans out as well. This last one against themselves not being the first. Obviously all that is speculation but it makes a lot more sense than what theyre trying to convince people is going on.
Projects delayed for a couple years at least with no end in sight just dont keep the type of money generating potential this one claims especially once they become exposed as obvious pay to win garbage even if they do release.
nah I just keep calling them like I see them. I guess you have missed all the 3.0 leaks where even after multiple patches things still have game breaking bugs and they havent put 10% of what 3.0 was hyped as in that secret test bed yet. They cherry picked stuff they actually thought worked.
So of course the scrutiny and criticism should be amped up especially considering everything that has gone on and everything that has been said about 3.0.
When they dont mention 3.0 except in an extremely limited fashion and no one gets to see it other than on a closed system (and it broke then too) you know it has major issues.
Instead the conventions were more smoke and mirrors and look what we plan on doing rather than look at what we have, because they dont have dick and thats why its always future tense with them because it has been great with the people who buy into it.
We have to see what they deliver before calling it revolutionary, don't you think ?
oh I completely agree but it does seem a lot of people are calling the ideas revolutionary.
So the question is, why are these ideas revolutionary? what is revolutionary about these ideas and why are other developers not engaged in those ideas?
How are a lot of people?

you know what would be 'revolutionary'? FULL VR. But we know that aint happening. They cant get it running on a standard platform.
But I said it awhile ago and say it now, that was the next delay they were looking for. But VR has been a bust so far so he cant come out and say 'with the advancements in the new VR tech we are going to start changing some aspect of the game into that format'. Meaning more delays, more time needed, ,ore 'ambition', more everything except actually making the game. But obviously the most important the need for more money to make it happen (because having 160+ million {allegedly} given to them has made everything perfect already).
But ironically if this thing IS ever released I suspect VR will be a lot more commonplace. It then becomes a question of if he has enough balls to 'start all over' again.
But theyre doing more than anyone ever thought they would be doing already. This is the most profitable thing going right now. These guys are living like rock stars flying all over the world not working any kind of 'real' job and they get to sell their shtick to anyone that will listen.
He is taking everything right out of the L Ron Hubbard play book. SC has even been called its own religion. I dont know why someone hasnt made a full side buy side comparison of SC and Scientology I suspect they would be eerily similar.

How exactly would VR be revolutionary when it is used for plenty of games already? However, different ways to interact with its greatest feature 'the universe' would always be welcome as it is the planned scale coupled with detail of the universe and all the combined possible features included that is part of what does actually make Star Citizen revolutionary. As already explained to you. Just wishing and pretending none of it exists is not an argument sorry.
