Bless Online, here. No kickstarter reward sass that cannot be earned after launch. I like playing as a collector, and when someone else looks badass due to some cosmetic item for pre-ordering a game within a 30-day kickstarter period... annoys me. I can't help it.
I just wish rewards were given through in-game efforts... not efforts for supporting years before launch etc... most of the time before many people even hear about the campaign.
You can't earn, post-launch, the "reward" "help test the pre-alpha".
Not that I would ever consider helping to test an unfinished game a "reward".
Like many others, I don't get the hype for the game. Their official website is terrible and offers very little information about the game, so whilst the lore sounds vaguely interesting, and the focus on grouping/community/sandbox is good, without specifics there is nothing to get excited about. But then, I never played EQ or Vanguard so having Brad McQuaid on the team means nothing to me.
I personally voted for CU and was happy to see it beat CF in this poll. But, as DMKano said, the poll is ultimately meaningless, it's the games that matter and it'd be great if all of them turned out good.

Poor little fishy is mad because an old school mmo with modern twist tops the list.

Weird. It's literally trying to be EQ meets VG with a few things added and/or taken away....I backed it and will give it a shot when it launches.....but honestly there's nothing really interesting or different about what they have currently. If I wanted to go back and play those games (not VG obviously) I could.
The most wanted of 2018 is something that won't be launch ready in 2018.
And it won nonetheless , it just shows how much people really want a game like this.
It won, but that only shows how much the 300 people who regularly participate on this site want a game like this. It says nothing of a larger segment of the market. Let's wait and see, shall we?
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

Well, considering that the poll "was" on this site that's sort of a given isn't it?
And it's already known that it's going to be a small title, even the developers know this.

To be fair, it gets mentioned in a few of the GW2 related Discord channels I am on, and in Guild Chat, on occasion, along with Crowfall.
Crowfall mainly because I play WvW, and there is a bit of a growing desire for a better WvW set up, and Crowfall seems to offer that.
Pantheon.. because we have a lot of Old School games who know the name Brad 'The vision" McQuaid, and are recovering EQ addicts.. if you can call playing GW2 "recovering". but none the less, any MMO made by him will get a mention, and I wager an earnest try.
While "excited" may not be the right term.. there is no doubt interest.
Well I'd go for Crowfall because indeed attracts more in a more unique type of PvP MMO setup, that indeed attracts to the WvW crowd of GW2 as well.
Now Pantheon seems just to be a fan vote thing, if that is what 2018 has of best to offer in the MMO genre, RIP us. Perhaps that new Project TL lineage successor may appear this year.

Then you see the number of 1 poster members who bothered to post in this very thread. Many of them were created the same day they posted. How many of those were alts of regular members and how many were asked by VR to come to this site and vote? There's much more evidence that this site and it's forums are being used by game developers.
The statement I responded to implied that a win in this poll had far greater implications than just the opinions of the regular members. It's a matter of keeping expectations in check. If VR won't do it, I will try. I don't like seeing people being disappointed.

I think that statement was what it was. It showed that there were people who really want that type of mmo. I don't think any more needed to be read into it.
The MMORPG.com staff aleady said it removed sketchy votes.
I don't really think anyone voted to have you keep expectations in check. If they are adults they'll do just fine. If they can't function on that level nothing is going to make them do so.

No doubt that some of it is fandom and nostalgia, but another part is the urge to get away from cookie cutter classes/builds.
A lot of modern games, you are kinda stuck into a template. IE: Healer uses Staff, Melee uses Big Axe, Ranged used dual pistols, and the like. This is why Bless (which looks a lot like a TERA remake) is simply not that big a deal, it's pretty, no doubt, but, people who enjoy GW2, want more.
Older MMO's in their build up offered that, so, there is some urge to break the current mold, and allow for more custom options.
Right now, the nuances of the game are unknown, so there is a whole lot of expectation built off that alone. In the end, while doubt that Pantheon will not be a ground breaking MMO like EQ was, it might be a breath of fresh air, to take some of the long passed away elements of older games and bring them into a modern era.
We shall see.
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.
When I voted, there was 0% for Legends of Aria. If I'm the only one that voted for it, then 1 vote is 0.5% of the total. So, if I felt like doing math before having enough coffee this morning, we'd have an estimated total.
Pantheon calls back to the age of hardcore mmo where character development took much more time and you needed PEOPLE to do anything signifigant. I don’t think this will be a game for the mellenial ‘insta gratification- everyone wins- I identify with carebear’ generation and that’s what’s drawing me to it.
Sorry, but this list is just dumb! The fact that The Crew 2 is even in the list is just ridiculous. Most amazing part is Pantheon winning the whole thing besides games such as Bless and AoC, which are of much higher quality in terms of design, gameplay and graphics. Either way, we'll see how the game fairs after release.. not expecting much tbh but every game needs a chance.
That's just like, ur opinion. Apparently not shared by others.
Huh, there isn't a single game on that list I'm interested in trying. That's a first.
That's a little surprising to me. I would have thought there is something at least mildly interesting to everyone. What are some things you'd like to have seen on the list?
I agree with you. There hasn't been this much anticipation and excitement since EQN announcement days. Man, so many titles I was looking forward to back then, all dead!

Only until people watch others play it. Anyone who thinks this is old school has lost their marbles. There is nothing user friendly about Pantheon. You are going to spend lots of time forming a group to play, no 30 minute play, you are going to have to dedicate significant time for play. That will doom the game for many.

So many buzz words in one sentence... do you play Eve Online by any chance? If not, I think you would fit right in.

Actually I think half hour or less dungeon runs where you press a button in town to queue up are a big part of what is wrong with MMORPGs and want to dedicate a significant amount of time to play.
I hope they have dungeons in Pantheon that takes hours or even days to fully explore.

Sorry, but that is exactly what is wrong with the game. LOTS of pickup groups. Good luck with them. I don't mind grouping, but constant need to group makes for bad gameplay. The game will be a ghost town within 6 months of release.

This. I only question the execution. Im interested, but not hopeful about the way things are going thus far.
People always want more grouping, that isn't the problem. The problem is when there's no groups to be had, or when people start to trickle into guild-only niche groups, then people start to hate group content because they can't find groups.
Groups are fun when you have them, and your characters are progressing. If everybody's gaining exp and getting loot, then everybody's happy. Groups are never fun when you can't find them readily, they become a hassle to get into, or you have to deal with group/loot related drama.
