It has definite design flaws and is waaaay overpriced. But it has massive potential. I just wonder what their priorities were and why it's so feature slim. And no I didn't buy it for multiple reasons but I enjoy watching some streamers play it
Anyway, it's no No Man's Sky and a niche group will adore the game as is. They need to go public with specific content update plans. the foundation is there, but how quickly can they move to add the much needed depth.
I think the author was perhaps a little harsh on the launch aspect. Honestly, these days I just generally expect any multi-player-only game to have a really rough first 48 hours or so. However, with Microsoft behind this, they should have have the server and bandwidth horsepower to handle this. So I'm guessing it was probably server overload.
That said, the lack of being able to properly create your own avatar is what initially steered me away from the game. By the time they switch tactics on that, I suspect the first impressions will have already been set in stone.
I'd like to try this out but unfortunately you have to be using Windows 10 to get it to work.
You windows 10 holdouts miss out on shit tons of great games lol. It reminds me of the Denuvo haters.
Most of us holdouts will be upgrading to Win 10 as soon as we buy a new computer or do a major hardware upgrade.
Meanwhile all that we miss are a couple of Microsoft's games, everyone else is still releasing everything for Win 7.
I've been seeing a lot of people on Steam dismissing games because of windows 10 requirments lately claiming stability and privacy issues. The windows fall update sucked, but it was mostly fixed. My 8 year old computer runs windows 10 just fine, and it was a free upgrade from 7.
I mean to each their own and I get not being able to run win 10, but I think some hold outs are just tinfoil haters being stuborn for the sake of not trying to conform, just like the people who ran windows 2000 well past its support life.
It's defenitly not worth the 60 bucks they are asking for.
However you can buy the game pass on the store (2 weeks free and then 7 bucks a month), So you can pretty much test it out for 2 weeks and then decide if you wish to continue.

Like I said earlier, there's no point in upgrading now since I'm going to buy a new PC later in the year, which will have Windows 10. We all good now?
Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.
Installed...Tried for an hour to get into game...got into game...tried to sail ship...sank...get back into game...finally sail to island...killed by gank squad of players...uninstall.
Not sure who thought forced grouping and forced pvp was a good idea, but it's not.
And on top of all that it feels like some early access alpha, not a full release. Poor character creator for 2018, no content, and no tutorial at all.
As far as I can see this game needs a group of people. You can't play alone.
I'd like to try this out but unfortunately you have to be using Windows 10 to get it to work.

still using Win 7 myself, i did try Win 10 for a while but i wasn't really happy with it, when you consider that the Win 7 install base is more than double that of the Win 10 install base and they were giving Win 10 away for free compared to you having to actually buy Win 7, then i think you have to accept that its not really all that popular particularly as even now Win10 is still barely 1/5th install base of the PC's out there. Maybe MS will learn from this with their next OS, i will probably hold out now until Win 11 is released, chances are it will be out some time in the next 2 years, but if they want to really push Windows Store on people, then they will have to do a lot better than games like Sea of Thieves.
Kind of odd,Angry joe just did a twitch play of this but no review or video anywhere that i can see.
You could tell his initial play right after E3 was tainted because he was with the devs and knew nothing of thew game,so it was like a giggly honeymoon.
His twitch play just 2 days ago, told the real story, the frustration on his face first at the price then of the actual game.I could tel that he simply wanted out,yet he restarted and gave it a second chance, not sure why,he must have got some good $$$ from the devs but anyway on his second play he still looked frustrated and did not like the game.
All he said a few times was the game looked great but imo that is really stretching it because it is mostly just water with some islands and very little in way of assets. So in reality not enough there to actually claim it looks good.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Umm you may have a long wait for anything past windows 10.
Last i heard they were not planning on any more versions, just updating win 10.
Would bet that if they let win 10 hit end of life that we will all be leasing/subbing anything further from them. Some type of system like they do with some of their office products now. You pay a yearly fee to use and if you stop paying you have nothing.
Hard to say for sure. Microsoft is and always has been a strange company. Some things they do make sense to me others just leave me shaking my head.
About this game though, i hope that in a few months they have more content and all the issues worked out. Would be nice to end up with a nice game in the end. But you never know.
Launch mess should be expected. I really want to play, but am going to wait for a few months for the bugs to work out and some content to be added. There are plenty of examples where devs turned around a poor launch, and I'm hoping they pull it off. I remember my days playing Pirates! and hope to rejoin the setting.
Of course there are lots of examples where devs weren't able to pull up, but hopefully, these guys aren't those guys.
Launch messes are expected because gamers continue to feed and respond to hype and ALLOW bad launches to go without punishment (ie withhold spending) Our wallets hold the power, our impatience removes said power.

Windows 7 effectively runs out in 2020, whether or not microsoft extends support beyond that really depends on how large the userbase is at that point, but give than roughly half the MS userbase uses Windows 7, its possible. As for Microsoft not working on anything past windows 10, that is unlikely, its entirely probable that they already have something in development, if Win 10 had been more popular then maybe? but seeing as it hasn't exceeded 20% install base yet, and thats at this late a stage in the OS's lifecycle, then chances are it never will, though i am only guessing that the next OS will be called Win 11 they may well forego using numbers at all, either way, Windows 10 wasn't popular enough nor did it gain enough traction that Microsoft could afford to not be working on their next OS.

I would imagine that low install base compared Windows 7 is mostly Chinese computer users though. Steam Stats show Windows 7 is 68% (and falling) of the OS used by their users but the most common language used on Steam is Chinese at 64% In the West it would appear Windows 10 is doing better than some would think
Too support that Windows 10 already has an install base higher than Windows 7 as of last year. Hardly 1/5 of the install base.
Must admit when i checked the figures again i was wrong, currently Win 7 is at about 46% and Win 10 is at roughly 29% with MacOsx at around 6% and Linux at 3% the rest being Win 8 and Chrome etc. While that does represent an increase for Win 10, it is still far from being a larger install base than Win 7, although it does now have a larger install base than Win 8.

only way to push for win 10 is like they are already doing any new MB or processor will require a win 10, because microsoft is forcing people to migrate with each patch, also I do have a machine with win 10 here on my work, the dude who use that only complain about it, and the network conection with other computers here on work become a lot more annoying since that machine is in
also take note microsoft plans is not to make any more windows jsut keep patching and upgrading win 10, don't know how much longer they will keep this but, I still don't see any reason to upgrade, I don't like most microsoft games, any other decent dev still realease for win 7, and since I upgraded my video card my old 4+year processor still run any shit they put out, so again I don't see any reason to upgrade

So, failure of concept and design, imo. Maybe they'll fix it, but don't see why you'd fork over the money now.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
This isn't a signature, you just think it is.
