Agreed, my read through pretty much lead to the same conclusion.

This one will likely lead to much wailing and gnashing of teeth when it closes down.

One the brightest features of SOTA is it's community. If you come there as an actual player of the game and ask questions they are highly helpful and almost always friendly.

If you come there like Lord Darkmoon AKA Blorpykins who's made at least a dozen threads bashing SOTA for generally fairly petty crap here on mmorpg.com and apparently does so over there as well, expect to have your own toxicity turned around on you.

You can expect that from any community of any game. Or any community in general really.

Do you think it's fair to players to participate in dev marketed and sanctioned RMT in forums that are designed to host RMT and in game where mechanics literally drive players to RMT as part of the gameplay when the devs don't have a banking license or an EULA that supports RMT?  They offer no protection to anyone and they allow players to move huge sums across international borders in their forums because if you don't use their forums for RMT you could be banned.  Which is stupid because RMT in their game isn't allowed per the terms.  But it's integral to the game.

They make RMT illegal in their EULA but advertise it to the players so speculators will buy their add-on store crap.  They encourage RMT and enable the transfer of huge sums of money without a banking license.  I don't care if lots of games turn a blind eye to RMT, Shroud of the Avatar promotes it but does nothing to protect the players.  They enable all sorts of illicit activity to happen and even promote some traders as official partners.  Inside their game they have mechanics that direct players, new players, to the RMT forum.  But they claim no liability.  They have no way of knowing if the people in their forums are children or adults.  There's no age verification or EULA protection for anyone; because all RMT is illegal.

They don't care about their own EULA and it shows because hardly anyone in that game cares about it.  There is so much botting, you'd have to be brain dead to risk RMT in that game.

That has nothing to do with you being a toxic troll who only perceives the community you troll as toxic because they treat you the same way you treat them.

I don't really care to hash out RMT issues with you, but expect that if you come to any games community and bash it as you've been doing to SOTA the entire time I've known you on mmorpg.com, they're going to bite back.

Get over your obsession, and move on with your life. There are two camps of people when it comes to SOTA:

    1. Those who have already made up their mind about not liking this game.
    2. Those who don't care what a troll like you has to say because they are busy enjoying the game.

There is no camp who are turned away from this game by your incessant ranting.

It happens more often then not that people say nothing when they should speak up.  Silence is usually viewed as approval, speaking up is the honest thing to do when you see something wrong, letting people know your concerns.  Many times it might even lead to major improvements.

It is a big problem when people try to stifle criticism by trying to shut them up.

It's not a windmill when you're the one being scammed and the devs are telling you they don't officially support RMT.  The game pushes you into RMT, there are in game references and links that place you squarely into the RMT market in the player market forums.

How is it you see something that more resembles a MMO money laundering scam than anything else to be a proverbial windmill?  https://www.pcgamer.com/how-microtransactions-and-in-game-currencies-can-be-used-to-launder-money/

The irony is for me that all this bitching about SoTA actually got me to download the game a few weeks ago. I thought it cannot be that bad and you know what.... its isn't and I've bought the game, grabbed some CoTo's when the sales/livestream was on and await some freebies. So well done your negativity pullerd in a new player who's having a BLAST!

I found EVE the same way years ago when people on these forums were slagging on CCP over some Dev BPO scandal..

My thought was, pretty cool, devs playing their own game, and decided to check it out.

Best gaming decision I ever made.

    ;)

I think that SoTA is boring. With the selection of games, and activity in the world, why you would spend your time playing it is beyond me. But, it is a free market, and everyone's different. In regards to LotRO. I enjoyed it when it came out, but it's been dated for a decade graphically, and with all of the realms content that has came out on the big-screen, it's an absolute disgrace that is hasn't been updated to something far more substantial.

You haven't played LOTRO for a long time have you? My wife has been playing it for almost 10 years now and with the new dev crew they have done a lot of updates over the last 2 years, especially in the gfx area. I really hate it when people post shit like this without actually taking the time to find out if it's true or not.

I paid more into SotA originally, and in comparison, Project: Gorgon is a better game on a tighter budget adhering closer to many of the same ideals with a better community and mechanics and a tiny more responsive dev team out of DAOC genetics.

Frankly disappointed with this game -- it feels more like a way to keep the devs going than for the game or the players, and at some point, although there's a practical aspect, that should never start feeling like gaming the playerbase. I ended up feeling conned.

I seriously wanted to like the game but... it just seems dull. I could never get into any of my play sessions and I never seemed to get a full hang of what was supposed to be going on. The interface was pretty bad for starters and I felt like I should be doing something other than what I was doing... not a good feeling.
