The score is right on - I think Bless for me (Steam Version) is 5/10
Japan version is about 6.5/10
But great review.
If only Neowiz would have listened to the western publishers about fixing the game before even thinking about bringing it to the western players - but that's all behind us now.
Steam charts for Bless are showing a pretty clear trend - at launch there were 34.3 thousand peak concurrent players - 8 days later - the daily peak concurrent is down to 17.5 thousand - a 50% drop in 9 days.
Ouch
To make the problem worse - there are already servers in both NA/EU that are dead population wise - players can't find groups to complete content and are already asking for server merges - which are needed for those ultra-low pop servers.
Neowiz - mistakes were made
Still looks very healty tho
It's still very healthy number, but the problem is that if you lose more than 5% of your players every day you're going to run out of players very fast.
You mean like this? A little context with a competing game is always good for perspective right? I'll just direct you to the All-Time Peak because the anemic weekly numbers might be distracting.
The difference is - that is a fraction of actual ArcheAge players as vast majority dont use steam to play but use Glyph directly to avoid double logins.
Same with ESO charts on steam - shows 29k peak of all time and 10k average monthly.
thats a fraction of ESO players.
Bless steam however is 100% of all NA/EU playerbase
Unfortunately, you are correct. Someone who seriously plays AA knows you need to have around 3 clients up, so its honestly best to deal with Trion directly.
This mess has been like the second coming of Revelation Online, except optimized even worse (somehow) and with even less meat on its bones (somehow x2).
This is sad to say, but this is what I have come to expect from this genre: hype trains, derailed almost instantly once their true colors show. Depressing to an old vet like me, but this is the landscape now.

Can't really compare considering you can play AA off of steam and tons of people prefer to do just that when given a choice. 100% of Bless players however are on steam.
Why is this the only Early Access game that gets a review? That's a bit unfair. The devs have been clear for months that game was unfinished and would need a lot of work before being ready for official release. How about letting them go through that development process before reviewing it like you do for every other game?
I'm very disappointed in you MMORPG for doing this and Bill for letting it happen. I used to respect you guys for writing about a wide variety of games with a wide variety of opinions, but this is just jumping on the hate train for a game that is like any other at this stage of development.
It's the thing at the moment. Apparently hating bless or any MMO that's unfinished is this year's tend. Not defending bless mind you, it's a mess but I still enjoy it. I got to speak with the devs and they do have a pain for this game. Hell they have admitted in two different letters that the games a mess and they have been working hard on it. More then I can say for some companies. Last thing I'm going to say is bring on the hate comments because this community is rather uncivilized.

Yeah so unfair. It's only been out for 5 years. You do realize the only thing they changed when they were getting ready to launch in NA/EU was the combat right? They didn't fix any of the hundreds of other problems their crap game was having over in Russia, Korea, & Japana. Keep fanboying

Hating an unfinished product that you paid money for is a trend? Nothing trendy about it. It's how people behave when a company takes their money and gives them a bad product in return. This game has failed in three regions and been in development for over five years. I think they deserve all they hate they get at this point.

The devs had a plan? Was the plan to get the game out to the west asap, get what money we can then shut it down in 6 months to a year cause if so the plan is working.
I don't give a fuck what the devs are saying. This game never should have been charging money to play in the state that it's in. It should have went through a beta phase. 1 beta. Just 1 would have brought to light 80% of these issues. Wouldn't have even had to be a long one, just 1 weekend long beta.
If all this shit happened in beta, Neowiz wouldn't have been shit on by all the streamers and randoms because it's a beta, a state where shit would actually be changed on a fundamental level. But early access is essentially a release nowadays. It's simply the truth whether people want to admit it or not. The only thing you're gonna see is minor bug fixing and balance changes. Which coincidentally is all we've seen from Neowiz.
All the other fundamental problems with the game aren't going to ever be fixed because it's much too late for that. The fundamental problems with their halfassed combo system, the fundamental problems with their empty world syndrome, those problems won't be going away.
People aren't hating on Bless because it's a trend. They're hating on Bless because they actually thought it was okay to charge money for this shit. If Bless's "launch" was a closed or open beta that you had to get keys to get into instead of paying 30-200 dollars for, 90% of the negative press Neowiz got would have never happened.
To me it sounds like bless is too much of the same old while lacking polish. Combat and group play has to shine to make me interested in a standard themepark.
Iselin: And the next person who says "but it's a business, they need to make money" can just go fuck yourself.
I have stopped playing the game for now, If they change their minds about not wiping the game then i will go back, I have been reading posts on Reddit that some people haven't had their items removed from the duping and chilli, Which is obvious because the only way to get rid of everything would be to do a wipe.
Some people have been saying the market place dupe still isn't fixed, I don't know how much of this is true because it came from Reddit, So you don't know who owns the game and who doesn't.
I also found this post on Reddit showing the decrease in the amount of players since launch, I don't know how accurate it is.

If you drop a turd in early access you better not forget to wipe
Overall, the game was going to be completely unoriginal lacking innovation with worse polish than other games out there. Essentially, people were getting hyped up for the poor man's version of Tera which is already garbage. But hey $30 for many hours of entertainment is great, I pay $80 for a stupid dinner at a bullshit fancy restaurant with my wife.

It's accurate. There's been at least a consistent 20-30% drop from peak based off steam analytics. Sometimes getting as low as a 50% drop from peak.
Which is heavily worrying since these numbers typically aren't seen until the 4-6 month mark and it hasn't even been 1 month which should still be when the population is growing and reaching new heights whereas instead Bless is just falling and falling already.
And then some of us could care fucking less how you feel and why you choose not to play.
Folks diving into these games know what they are getting into.
It's never perfect.
Just like any game there is always room for improvement.

i mean, people are paying thousands for Star Citizen. Is Bless that much worse for only $30?
Mileage may vary, some people won't pay 30 for it, some people, the 150 dollar pack was a good deal to them, and theres nothing wrong with liking a game like Bless.
I think the big mistake is that Bless is being treated as a big triple A game when the development cycle has been more like a progressive indie title.
I wasn't impressed with Bless when it first appeared on the MMORPG radar and nothing has changed that opinion. Decidedly underwhelmed with what I've seen of it so far. Not even bothering with this one.

If you are charging money it is fair game.
While I agree, another poster called @Leiloni a fanboy, and I wanted to chime in here just to say that I think that was an erroneous assessment. By my experience Leiloni has been a pretty chill and rational poster. Fanboying sucks, but there's not a completely distinct line between fanboying and simply being a fan of the genre and, as such, new releases in that genre because they both are rooted in the same emotion: excitement. I think Leiloni falls into that latter group here, not the former.

How many MMORPGs are in Steam Early Access outside of Bless Online? I'd say none. I'd like to think that the game is getting reviewed more for the reason that there's not going to be wipes outside of charging money, even though by logic they do go hand-in-hand.
That said, this isn't the only "non-finished" mmorpg that this site has reviewed before its "official launch." Pathfinder was reviewed when the team behind that failed project was first charging money and Shroud of the Avatar was reviewed as well before it officially launched. Helps to research a little before throwing claims around.
For now finally kids whos cried a lot and wants everything immediately left. Many youtuber and streamer cried enough and now my generation can enjoy finally. This game has lot of potencial, wasnt a good start I agree but neowiz works hard on it and thats a good point for me. Im still playing and enjoy. Yes not everything is good but getting better every day.
