Ok, ok, screw this. For the first time in SEVEN years I've created chars outside of Laurelin. Both on Ithil.
Lahnmir - Loremaster Putrence - Minstrell
So, sue me. Will be playing very casually, see you guys online.

Have Fun .. im still on the fence as much as i love LOTRO , not sure i wanna do it all again
Neither am I. But I started a new character on Laurelin anyways, might as well enjoy the ride with fresh company. So far it feels VERY nice. I always liked the slower pace and the areas are packed. No clue how far I’ll get, got a three month sub to find out if the journey is worth it.
Edit. Haven´t joined a kinship yet. Perhaps players on here can recommend a nice one?
/Cheers, Lahnmir
Dam you .. does sound good , ya know what im gonna do , i think ill roll up a tank and play him have never run a tank thru that content , ive Done Hunter/Minstrel/Burglar/Champ.. Tank should be fun
Let me know how it goes. I fully recommend Loremaster though. So much fun that I’ll be playing one, again.
/Cheers, Lahnmir
Maybe .. Ill roll one up and have a look , something else ive done with all my lotro toons when im not grouped .. Is Names Off and disable mobs (red Dots ) on radar .. its a very diffferent experience that way .. very immersive

I always found that feature more distracting than helpful. The only time I put the dots on the radar is during chicken play - obviously when every walking creature can kill you instantly, you use all the tools available

Other than it being sub only I am not sure I understand the appeal of these servers. They are the game as it currently is but missing 10 yrs of content correct? The 4 month roll out schedule is fine.
I'm not sure what is hard to understand about people preferring to quest while there are others around them instead of repeating the same dailies every day at endgame or speedleveling alts solo to reach level cap fast and be with everyone else.

I think this is the attraction, I mean, I had some time to talk about this with some friends, and I have got to admit, it's shrewd,. they open up a VIP only server, re-set the game, and players flock to it, they don't need to do any new work, any development, just re-release the game, on a private paid server, and it booms.
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.
I know there has to be some kind of psychological human culture and herd mentality lesson to be learned from this.. but.. fuck me if I know what it is..

Very simple. What distinguishes MMOs from other genres is the social interaction. And by opening up fresh servers where everybody is on equal footing they are giving players just that, new friendships, new drama, new rivalry. You know, everything that makes an MMO.
On a side note, these servers are not the same as the regular ones with expansions taken out btw, xp gain is different and I am pretty sure lots of removed quests have been reintroduced. I’ve been in and out of LotRO since launch and this feels surprisingly fresh. A lot more then, say, Rift Prime.

I'm going to roll when I get the chance. Taking the grandson to the model railway show in a couple minutes and have to keep the wife happy tonight, I was a bad boy last night
I am interested to know about the P2W aspects in the LotRO store, could you elaborate? Especially since you earn points by playing and subbing, which is a requirement.
Do we also have a kinship on Ithil btw?

Ok.. so lets take bets to see how long before DDO has a "legendary Server"

Well.... that would actually be really cool, since it's a very unique and fun game. A hell lot better than that Lootbox Cash grab game called Neverwinter.
So how does this work. My old account was with Codemasters so that is sunk right? I also played on the US servers too don't recall but Laurelin I think.
Do I need to repurchase the game? I think I bought Mines of Moria too been ages since I played.

I have a Lifetime sub to LOTRO, but I haven't played since around the time Rohan launched. Jumped onto Ithil and I'm having a blast. Ered Luin, Shire and Breeland are full of players. I'm trying to focus on just one character to stay with the pack as far as level is concerned, but my alt-itis and the need for crafting alts means I'm spreading my time a bit. Also, High Elves are "new" to me, with a tutorial instance from the end of the 2nd age battle at the Black Gate.
Although I have a lot of LP available from years of not spending it, I haven't really bought anything in the store yet except a "skip the tutorial" token for an alt. I haven't even opened 11 years' worth of gift boxes that each of my new characters is receiving. I think I have about 2 1/2 bags of swag between the gift boxes and various cloaks and cosmetics I've accumulated over the years since launch.
Running a Hobbit Burglar main for now, with a High Elf Captain, Elf Loremaster, and Man Warden as alts.

I agree that DDO is far better then Neverwinter, but, after they nerfed raid loot, and were like "Sucks to be you" about it.. just not the kind of company I would want to invest my time into.
Won't stop you from doing so.

What do I need to do to play ?
Yes, any old Codemaster accounts that weren't transferred way back when they stopped hosting the game are long gone and non-recoverable.
The game is now F2p so you don't need to repurchase, just download. Now you're limited in content as a F2p player and will have to buy follow on regions after the first free 4 or you can sub and get the regions free, but still will have to buy any expansions you want. Also if you want to play on either of the 2 new servers you'd have to sub to play on them as they are sub only.
Joined a guild from Laurelin, died from severe bleeding effects (these things are brutal!), had some node wars with another scholar, forgot to dismiss and resummon my bear after gaining two levels, went to bed waaay to late.
Having a bloody brilliant time!

Expansions are the only content not included in the subscription.
None are needed currently on the new servers the current cap is 50 - which is not scheduled to increase for "about 4 months".
So plenty of time to check out the sales; pretty sure the quad pack was available for $2.50 last Christmas. Which makes me wonder whether SSG will simply "include" the early expansions on the new servers - just make them a new server VIP extra.

When Codemasters stopped publishing in Europe, everyone was given the chance to transfer their account to Turbine for free but only for a limited time. If you did that then, you still have everything you already paid for such as the Moria expansion. The fact that you had a character on the US Laurelin server suggests you may well have done that, although you may alternately have started again from scratch with a free to play account.
The easiest way to find out is to go to the LotRO homepage and see if you can log into your account using your old login details. If you've forgotten them, you can get a password reset as long as you still have the same email address. You'll be able to see the history of your account purchases going back to 2007.
