as far as your 3.5 million.  what of lineage 2 ??? with its aisan servers that games has almost double that number. Does that mean that game beats all mmos ? I think not. I played it and the horridous grind almost killed me. Graphics wise nothing more beutiful than a darkelf or elf casting. Back to the point. I played wow fairly simple to level it is dumbed down compared to other mmos. Its cool if people like it i dont care, but dont say the best mmo ever. Its not, for me it was the complete freedom of uo before ea ruined it. For the trammyites burn in hell !!!!!

Its all a matter of opinion though. I prefer complete freedom in a game most cookie cutters like wow dont attempt this. The statement of kids play it is true. More so than other mmos. Why? Its simple to learn they have many child amuseing emotes,The cartoon graphics. Im all for this though keeps them out of other mmos.

Flame all ya want if your an mmo vet you know the truth.

Recently went back to EQ2 and I am amazed what they did with all the patches and upgrades/updates.
WoW is "A Kids Guide to MMO's" and that is it!!!
    Thats the Bottom Line!

WoW is not made for kids. Its made for casual play. Its made for people like me, who have a family, job, lots of responsibilities and very little time. Just becuase leveling is easier then from all the horrenduous grinding like in L2 or EQ, doesnt make this game "easy" or for kids. Its made for adults and kids who have 2-4 hours a day to play the game. How far would u go with 2 hours of gameplay in EQ? Sometimes it would take 5 hours just to find a group - does that fact make EQ made for Adults only? No, it just proves that that game was made for hardcore people, who dont mind wasting 5 hours of their life doing absolutely nothing.
So please, just because you dont have to spend 5-10 RL hours to actualy acomplish something, dont brand the game "easy" or for kids only.

If this game was for kids ud see bright tones, goofy characters and content made for kids - leveling and playing WoW character is in no way goofy. This isnt mario bros, that was made for kids, not this.

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

Lineage 2 had reported 1.5 million subscribers world wide as of last year. 75,000 in North AMerica----that number itself has gone way down. Of course there numbers in aia are higher but 7 million? lol

Its time for you to get over pre tram UO man...those days are gone. You can thank griefers and exploiters for companies having to go this route in today's games.

The game is extremely easy to level up, and by that I mean that fighting mobs of your own level is incredibly easy. To put it another way, there is very little challenge, difficulty, complexity or strategy required at all. If you find fighting mobs in WoW to be any kind of a challenge, then I have to say I'm very surprised.

Blizzard wanted players to be able to level up quickly so that they could get to the incredibly exciting EQ-clone endgame, and that's fine, but they could have achieved this goal and still made levelling up challenging and stimulating by increasing XP for kills and making kills require more strategy and less predictability to achieve (as one example).

They clearly chose not to make the game particularly challenging as doing so would have alienated a large proportion of their target demographic and income: Kids.

im not sure where i heard it but it was a year back or better. The number of players and yes in the us the game tanked. In asia its huge. Korea its a nation past time.

Telling me no game will come to equal uo is a lie. One developer out there will make it, and when he or she does the flood gates will open. Down with level systems and confined pvp. Bring back depth and freedom. Theres plenty of games for the mentally challenged to jump into and be happy. Make a vet mmo.

Wow is there a sh*t load of ignorance in this thread...

    WoW IS FOR CASUAL GAMERS

    GW IS FOR CASUAL GAMERS

GW isn't for kids(Ya im talking to you Heartbroken).

Speaking of Heartbroken...Nah, I better not.

  • DatcydeDatcyde Member UncommonPosts: 573
First of all Eq2 is a kids game because it has no PvP. 2nd ofcourse SoE always dishes out shity content most people know this its like playing the same thing over and over.
  • DarkJaceDarkJace Member CommonPosts: 65

First off, let me say that I'm 14. I play WoW a lot. Yes, it is easy. No, that doesn't mean it's just for kids. I can agree that it gets boring and nothing in it is that difficult to accomplish. But, I still like some of the people in the community, and have lots of friends that play.
Neither WoW or GW was targeted at kids, but more at the casual gamers that aren't going to log on just to grind for hours on end. But, really I think making a thread just to talk about a game being for kids, or too childish for you, just seems pointless.

Yes WoW has its fair share of immature kids, but no more than the other mmos. Infact, since my return to SWG, I have found more immature and rude kids than I did in WoW. Anyway, I suppose it also has to do with what server you are.

i dont play eq never have never will, but saying just because a game has no pvp makes it kiddie. hahaha  Some people like pvp others like in depth storys and content. Others like cartoon graphics easy mode leveling with no real story or way of effecting the world you play in.

Exactly. You don't see me bashing the MMOs I don't like every chance I get. Unlike most other people out there, if I don't like it, I'm not gonna make a big deal about it.

No there was never 7 million players...if your going to say something like that ...back it up with a link. And as far as saying nothing will compare to UO...I didnt. I simply said you need to get over it---those days are done.

As you can see Lineage topped out at an absolutley feeble 3.5 million. Only a million more subscribers than any other MMORPG in history, a sad showing really ;)

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

Thanks for the link, if I read it right lineage 2 topped out at 2.2 million. If so not sure where that huge 7 million subscribers Flea was talking about came from. Sure NCsoft would have enjoyed that, lol.

What is your base of comparison? EQ? DAOC? Where does it say that a mob of your level has to be impossible to kill? If you go 1 on 1 with same level mob in WoW its fairly easy, means its not likely to end up with your death. It still is some effort. But what makes it more difficult is the fact that its not always easy to find 1 on 1 mob. You gotta watch out for adds, grouped mobs etc etc. Also, why are u comparing regular mob? why not compare elite mob? Some classes can solo elites but its a much more challenging task. EQ is dead (for the most part anyway) so when u compare challenges in EQ to WoW you are comparing 2 different styles - a hardcore style and a casual style. Try soloing mob 4-5 levels above you if yo u want some EQ-like challenge, thats what I do.

Okay, I see that everyone is relentless on either insulting WoW or protecting WoW, but in all reality I forgot... That whatever side you are on in the real world...

    Nobody cares...

So if you ask me I say this subject is dead. The thing is no matter how much you yell NOOB! or not... Blizzard is still destroying Everquest II money wise. Whether or not it is a kid's game. In the bigger picture unless you own the rights to either of the games no one cares what you think except other people that do not matter.

Thankyou, I will continue to play WoW. imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

While you continue to play your Everquest II or whatever and life will go on.
