They really need to fix underwater controls. It's like spaceship controls. You move and after a few seconds your character moves.

I've enjoyed playing this game in the demo this weekend. It seems to have the "it" factor for me when it comes to being just fun. Graphics are awesome, the music/sound is great, and the story seems interesting. It could use some more info on the HUD and/or mini-map imo. On a side note, I wonder how long it'll take for the pendulum to swing back to the other side where's it's not cool to just be cynical and bash games/game companies for the hell of it.
This is the honeymoon period. Basically what I've learned (from you folks and others checking it out) is basically what I knew. The combat and movement is good, it's visually appealing. It has issues that they made people pay to sort out.
It's still 4 player 4 archetype pew pew mobs, get 75% of your life bar smacked off by bullet sponge bosses boiler plate. This isn't a deal breaker but an acceptable disappointment from Bioware.
The thing that's going to take this game over the top regardless of how we feel about the above is the presentation, lore, features, attention to detail and how large the world offering is at launch. Forgive me for not believing that EA/Bioware will break the L streak with Anthem.
All the "I'm having a blast" people, please make sure you return after month 1. Thanks.

"As far as the forum code of conduct, I would think it's a bit outdated and in need of a refre *CLOSED*"
As this is only demo I will reserve my impressions for now but I have two big concerns that I hope are addressed: One - there is no way to identify when I should be going and help or receiving help from other on my map i.e I trigger a world event and cant do it solo but the other 3 players are my map are scattered and probably have no clue that they are missing out on a world event. Two - when crafting I would like to know the base stats of the items before I craft. Right now you craft blindly. When it shows you the tier and the mats required to craft it should also show you the base stats of that tier..
Other issues:
Some mobs seem to have a very quick shield recharge trigger... by the time my weap reloads they are already recharging shield...
I hope the map is a lot bigger than what we are getting in the demo. When you zoom out it doesn't looks like a lot of extra map to be discovered.
Hope the final game has more random conversations with town folk (i.e. RDR2)
Setting off a world event should provide a notice to all players. It should also mark found quests and world event locations on your map after you've found them. It also seems players can come and go out of freeplay anytime they want as I always have the option to leave. Which means some players may be there looking for world events, others just for gathering, and others just to do a short mission or two then leave.

Curious. They mentioned 100M minutes of viewing yesterday. Assuming a full 24 hour cycle, that represents about 4.167 million people watching for 1 minute an hour for every hour in that cycle, or about 4.167 million unique views lasting 24 minutes. That's about 13 times as many people than the reported 300k concurrent users. Both the 300k concurrent users and the views seem highly inflated.
As pointed out above, it wasn't a demo, it was a stress test. A demo is a marketing tool for a finished product. I wish companies would just use standard accepted definitions when naming a product/service/phase.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
in case anyone missed it.. they let us try out all the javelins now.
Sweet! After doing the same missions multiple times in just two javlins this is a welcomed addition, as I was done. I can log back in now. Good move on their part.

how the hell can you "under-plan server capacity" in a VIP demo where you got exact numbers for!?
or did no one tell em how much they sold / handed out?
gj ^^
They didn't have exact numbers? What are you talking about. People who had Origin Access / EA Access and Pre-ordered the game had VIP access sure, but they also handed out VIP codes to people who had signed up to the newsletter, handed a ton out on Twitter, and oh here is the kicker, people who had VIP access also got 3 codes to hand out to friends. Which in turn, those three people could also invite three other people each. Participants grew massively.
People constantly trying to talk like they know the situation when they don't.
Sadly devs are living in basement these days (with no internet)... Little do they know that game like this already exist and its called Destiny.
So what if another game comes out that is similar to something else? Are you an idiot? Competition is healthy for businesses and that is how we get innovation. Destiny (Due to Activision) shit on their player base and killed the attention it had. BioWare decided to innovate on the idea and improve what games such as Destiny lacked.
Point being is, its perfectly fine for similar things to exist. Making assumptions such as your basement comment and claims saying a game can't exist cause X already exists makes you look like an idiot.
How black was that kettle, pot? New account because your last one got banned I'm assuming? When do you take your first maths class? It's really a world changer. You can actually take a bunch of numbers and find out how much all of them are in total! Wild huh.
Just because you like something and are fine with the situation it doesn't mean everyone else has to agree with you. Both are valid criticisms from where I'm standing. A valid retort might have been that there could have been a lot of last-minute VIP pack purchases, but you went a different direction.

This weekend was garbage. Infinite loading screens let you play maybe 10% of the time. Tons of rubberbanding, falling through the world, and other problems like that. Rendering problems for many users using 1080 and 2080s. Whole weekend was basically unplayable. For a game that's coming out in a month, they are no where near ready for release.

Literally unplayable!
I put a good amount of time in. Had rubberbanding issues once, never fell through the world, did have issues with the loading screens though on Friday and Saturday.
I have a 1080 and the performance was not great but definitely playable.
I can acknowledge that people had more problems than I did but to say that the whole weekend was basically unplayable is hyperbolic nonsense. But, you already knew that.
So I quizzed a co-worker of mine after he played a few days of Anthem on XBox 1 with some of his regular group of friends.
Gunplay and movement felt good, he experienced no rubber-banding or lag but like many saw quite a few long/infinite load screens where he had to, in some cases, exit the game entirely.
He didn't have a problem on the final boss (I had seen some people have issues with not being able to finish) but had to exit the game and reenter the start of the raid(?) in order to receive the rewards from the completed raid.
He didn't mess around with the crafting but took note of being able to break down unwanted gear into materials.
Loot was generous but knew that would most likely be re-balanced.
Didn't mess around with the cash shop.
Overall positive wait-and-see attitude on post-release.

yeah it was pretty fine on xbox.. similar experience as me. biggest problem was missing out almost a whole day due to some bug on the first day.
I didn't bother playing the demo myself because I am not really much a fan of this type of game but plenty of my guild mates from my main mmo tried it ( on the PC ) . After initial annoyance and not being able to get into the game , I have heard universally positive feedback to the demo from them . I will probably give it a try next weekend to see what the fuss is all about .
The reaction I am getting from people I know personally is totally different to many of the comments I am seeing here .
I was expecting there to be performance issues this weekend of some type or another , after all isn't that pretty much par for the course ?

I missed that. But oh well. I want the launch day experience to still be fresh, so I shifted my attention back to Persona 5 (I've almost beaten it and it is incredible).
At least I got to play all Javelins before my game ended with a crash, (nice of them to open them up). Right after completing the last boss with a new Javelin, while waiting for the final score it froze while loading. Never got back in, lots of disconnects then the message listed below. I had heard key people left the company. I don't think I know Bioware anymore.
Over all the game had it's fun times mixed with broken times and felt pretty much like an alpha. If you have the money, buy it, check it out from time to time until it's fixed, or if you had zero problems, otherwise wait for a sale and when most of the bugs have been fixed. But who knows, perhaps the next restricted content, open beta, stress test demo, will go a lot better... perhaps.

What was your favorite Javelin?
I tried the Ranger and the Storm. Liked the Ranger more than expected, but the Storm ended up being an instant favorite, just as I expected.

I really liked the Storm because of the long hover times and the way mobs melt when you hit them just right. The Interceptor surprised me as it was a lot more fun then I thought it would be. Charging into the middle of NPCs and still being alive after killing them all was a great feeling. Very flexible and very fast. Thought I'd like the Colossus but everything it did was kinda slow but it did have some promise, I probably needed a lot more playtime to get use to it. Ranger was nice but after the Storm I was spoiled.

I saw like %90 storms out there lol. I have a feeling they will be a favorite.

Yeah. I was shocked to see how overwhelming a majority the Storm seemed to hold. Whereas I saw like only 1 or 2 people on Colossus and a handful on Interceptor.
If they had all four Javelins open from the start they would have gotten a better mix. You were stuck with whatever your first choice was and Ranger was picked for you. I would have played all of them a lot more if they were available sooner. But Storm was fun.

I played the storm for most of the demo, jumped to colossus as soon as they unlocked them all. Colossus was great when I changed up my tactics rather then trying to play like I was in a Storm still.
Not EA's first rodeo. Most of this really could have been avoided. The whole "we didn't expect so many to log in at once" argument really falls flat at this point. One need only look at other releases in the past couple years to garner an expectation of what will happen.
I'm certain they will get it fixed and it certainly isn't the end of the world but really no excuse.
