Good article. Personaly i had no expectations, all my friends are hyped. I got a free friend key, so i gave it a shot. As in the article, it cost me like 15 Minutes of trying to find the settings to make flying possible with mouse and keyboard, after that, like an hour later it was barely a problem. The connection losts, hell jey it is a demo right.
Anyway, i had lots of fun, will try it, maybe not right from the start, but if some friends playing it, in a team it is way better.
I think they didn´t themself a favour of releasing an "alpha" version of the game and locking the javelins (you could just test 2). They lifted it in the last 3 hours, but for an EU player it was like 0-3 in the morning.
So, for me, if you like Co Op shooter, with lots of moveability and nice graphic the game is cool. Can´t say anything about the story.
And one other thing, please change the music when you are at the Bazar in Tarsis, it is connected to the SFX sound not the musig setting and it is anoying af to hear the same 5 second sample over and over

Actually that's a good point. The default settings for M/K do need to be adjusted and make a difference. Also the default setting for the mic/audio was turned off.

Regardless of the quality of the demo, after so much thought I think this game should have been a next gen launch game.
If they plan to have long term support for Anthem at least they must be considering next gen for either crossplay, account transfer or just flat out backwards compatibility. IMO.
It's not really my sort of game but I did watch a few streams over the weekend and it looked fun.
The worry I would have is what EA will do monetization wise after the initial launch. I certainly wouldn't buy the game until reviews are in especially after both the recent Destiny 2 and Fallout 76 debacles.

Once bitten, twice shy.
I wouldn't be too worried about monetization. At least I don't think you will get what has gone before. They wouldn't have spent all that money and time to remove loot boxes from Shadow of Mordor only to do it again so that they remove them again.
Oh, I'm sure they'll figure out a way to get money but I doubt it's going to be so aggressive.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
Only day I could play the demo was the first one. Apparently my internet has just enough latency issues for me to constantly get infinite loads or dropped from the game, meaning both saturday and sunday I only could hop on and fail to either load or complete any match.

Actual Cash Shop prices were "hidden" in the demo, not so ? Everything had the same low price...
No doubt the monetization team is feverishly analysing the data from the test, lol
Who bought what, how many did they buy, how long before the first purchase, etc. This data is vitally important, because it will help to determine revenue streams and maximum pricing and a host of other exciting things !
Perhaps they should consider having open final alphas and open final betas to give their Devs a better view of what needs to be worked on in order to make a successful release and better pre-order numbers.

I'm a bit confused with the article. It states that the reviewer went from cautiously optimistic to cautious. That seems like he's backing away from this title. But the contents of the article seemed highly positive, not negative. So, either his summary is way off kilter, or there a bunch of negative that the author is hiding problems. Or worse, making excuses for problems.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
I had fun in the demo; experienced connectivity issues, rubber-banding, long load times between missions; all of which I am sure will be worked out. The gameplay interface works and flying was fun.
What will differentiate Anthem vs. the other "shooters" is the story arc and whether Bioware can deliver on that as they typically do. I didn't see enough of that in the demo to have a sense if that will be the case.
Also in the back of my mind is whether EA will muck up this release with "loot boxes" or paywalls in any other name. They aren't there at release but I'm sure they will test the waters at some point.
Don't be so sure those issues will be worked out by launch. See FO76 for details.

Bethesda and FO76 are a poor standard of comparison. Those lazy hacks will leave well-known and major decade-old bugs in remasters.
The only thing that annoyed me was playing freeplay with randoms. If the leader left, we would all be finished with the expedition. A drop out feature would be nice, so that others could continue to play without joining a freeplay session in progress and then having to leave 5 mins later because the leader left. I had a lot of fun other than that.

Maybe so, but there's pretty much no harm in waiting til release and any server woes are resolved before forking over your cash. Has the added benefit of sending the message you won't buy until the game proves its polish.
I'm a shooter looter noob and I thought it was fun. I ran around with my best friend on Sunday and we had fun together. Game needs a mini map so we can see where the heck we're going. There were some infinite loading screens, but we just reloaded. I'm curious what there will be to do once the story is played through. Is it just regrind the same stuff while gearing up the javelin? Increase difficulty levels? We'll see I guess, but again, I thought the game was fun.
I don't intend to play Anthem, but when I think about what @Torval said about @DLC time, this "trend" by developers has me worried about all the games I had been looking forwared to.
Classic WoW. I was really looking for that. But now, I expect that Blizz is going to be looking to milk this as their next Cash Cow. I don't expect this to be just a simple "side-line" legacy offering to take us back to the game we used to play. I can't imagine they aren't sitting in meetings asking "How can we max-monetize this nostalgia?"
And there is TESVI. I think we only have to look as far as FO4+SSE's creation Club and the progression into FO76 to see the direction Bethesda is trying to go. FO76 is going to be a "Lessons Learned" situation, but the lesson is not lessons on what to offer gamers. It will be lessons learned on methods of monetization and how to increase it. I'm calling it now. TESVI may not be a multiplayer game, but I bet you will have to log in to play it. I bet Bethesda will want control over the modding of the game and will want to monetize it.
Again, this isn't an MMO. This game is more similar to borderlands or monster hunter than it is to any MMO in terms of players. The most players will be the newly announced social hub which can hold up to 16 people. But most of the time you will only see 3 other people. Or you could just set your game to private and solo.
I had fun though it felt like a slow game. Weapons were not bad but felt like toys. Flying with mouse is very much easy to hit the ceiling or floor. The infinite loading screens is what had me stop. Hitting 86% plus of cpu with spikes to 99% when I checked stopped me. The loading screen where it was worst was 1800-1900 fps which seems to be where I spent most of my time. Nothing to see except a picture and my cpu is being overloaded. I know people say don't worry at that but if it is hitting 99% then what happens when Windows gets upset at no resources?

Windows won't get upset at no resources even if you hit 100% CPU usage. Normally it causes a situation where your programs and other processes are all in a kind of queue, and Windows tries to give everyone a bit of the the processor time, and everything works slowly because they have to queue but everything still works.
Windows is designed to allow 100% CPU usage and you shouldn't need to avoid that situation.
"I moved, tried to aim, and then tried my hand at flying. The controls felt sluggish, like the game was trying to emulate a joystick even while I was using a mouse and keyboard. My heart sank and I felt much of my excitement deflate like a balloon." So it's just a typical console port ,huh?
I'm hoping that they will add new Javelins in the future. A few ideas:
Vulcan Engineer Javelin which can equip turrets, munitions, ammo packs, and med kits in Gear slots. Ultimate ability causes the Javelin to temporarily transform into a tank.
Paragon Support Javelin capable of projecting auras around itself which restore shields, cool flight jets, block projectiles, and other effects. Ultimate ability revives fallen Javelins, but carries a long cooldown.
Pscion Control Javelin specializing in holographic projections, mind control, and telekinesis. Ultimate lifts all enemies in an area and can then be activated a second time to slam them down.

When the universe implodes, and all existence is non-existence. Will you matter? No. Take a chill pill play some Anthem.

To me this game is what would happen if The Division and Warframe had a kid.
