This is one game that needs a franchise, my only concern is that it will start to conform to the gameplay that is "expected" for anything in the RPG/adventure genre. For example some of that factions talk seems rather Shadow of Mordor to me.

I don't remember when was the last time that I got this much excited about a game. My all time favorite rpg is finally getting a sequel... Is this the real life?

Agree. Definitely excited about this news. Really hope it all pans out well. No major bugs, solid story, solid gameplay, and good sales. So that if it is a good game, they'll be more inclined to make more.

I never played the original and if i did i don't remember so i have nothing to go on.I heard talks about it and immersive etc etc but people say lots of things lol.

There are people streaming Fortnite 10 hours a day EVERY day,at what level would you consider their acknowledgement of quality game designs?
I know i have high standards but not unreasonable,i know what developers can do and can't and i also can spot corner cutting, cost cutting<<<being cheap a mile away.
So far like everyone else we know almost nothing but i do know the timeframe doesn't look good for a AAA game,no way a game is good after 18 months of production unless all you want is a one map BR.
We will see,i have no excitement value at all,i will simply wait and see if they deliver and not get caught up in any marketing hype.

BTW did you people see that cringy acting at the start...ouch,i was thinking, umm ok don't tell anyone i am here,i was dragged into here but am about to leave for Dominos Pizza :D

I witnessed better acting back in high school in like grade 10/11,i still remember it because everyone bought tickets to get out of the last class to watch the acting performances.
Ok here it coems lol....If the acting was like this the kids would be buying tickets to stay in class :P

Well the first one was some what buggy on release but that term has changed as to what it infers. It was a complete game which is more than you can say for some of these releases today.

The length of time it has been worked on has been mentioned, I remember how excited some players where when they found out how quickly FO76 was coming out. The longer they take the better, we have waited this long another couple of years would not bother me for a solid WoD game.

Glad to see it's a sequel to Bloodlines.  Definitely one of the most exciting routes this could've taken!

I hope it is an Epic exclusive, just so we can see a bunch of folks get their panties in a wad again about having to pay the exact same amount for the game on the Epic store as they would have on Steam. :D

I'm kind of hoping at this point that it is as well. It makes it so much easier to wait for a title to get massively discounted or, in this case, get the complete product as a "GOTY" or similar edition.

By the time this releases, I think most of the passion of the "but mah Steam!!!" crowd will have floundered completely.

For now there are no indication that it will be store specific, but that can change at the very last moment as it already has with other titles. I'm more worried about the direction of the game itself, to bother that much with where I will eventually get it (if I ever do). I still haven't and will never purchase the last Deus Ex game, since it was released half finished with a story that will never be completed.

Given the history of the Paradox and their titles, it'll probably cost something like 80-120€ to get the full version of the game at launch. I'd rather wait for the full version to be released at a later date at a more reasonable price. On a similar note I purchased the full version of Assassin Creed: Odyssey for 57€ at a recent discount.

On my way to grab my morning coffee i had a thought...uh oh lol..oh noes.

The feeling i get with this reminds me Kingdoms of Amalur.A great idea, vision the sincerity was there from the owner,he gave up his entire careers fortune to make the game.

Why am i thinking of a game not in the same genre?Well the reason is this, remember my brainfart?

I get a real good solid feeling this is a giant plan/scheme similar to Amalur and perhaps can even toss in Defiant.I feel this is going to be a multi idea with brands/toys/peripherals a mobile spinoff, perhaps has a connection to their Tender app.
I get the feeling this is a grand scheme to make a pile of money from the brand. The problem with big dollar signs in your eyes is they cloud your vision. You try to get too big but do nothing well.Almost reminds of Dust as well,CCP trying to expand Eve but wanted instead of a simple add on to sell it off as a full game that connected to Eve.

I could even say it is a vision of greed, yet we have all heard the phrase.."to be big,you have to think big".

So i am not so s8ure this is just a Masquerade sequel, all developers/investors now a days have several money angles going, nobody is satisfied anymore just selling a game, they want more.

They are already working with their social apps to get hits and make money as they build it.They say 6 months are put into the game,i say far less.Want to know why i say less and don't believe them when saying "gameplay so far looks great?

EVERYONE and their goldfish are utilising the scam of the century >>Early ACCESS.if they had even the most minute bit of gaming to showcase, they would have rolled this off as early access and made a bunch of money long before finishing the game as projected to be Q1 2020.

So at least to me it appears as if a bigger scheme is in play and very little is done so far leaving in essence only 1 year to build this game. This small amount of time means a very ho hum game,so there will be several money angles going here.

Are you sniffing glue? You didn't play the first, but question 'quality game design' and compare it to Fortnite? What does that have to do with anything? Then you claim to 'know nothing' even though there's a fair bit of press so soon after the announcement, but claim that you know how long it's been in development and that it will suck unless it's a Battle Royale game.

Of course you have no excitement value, especially if you a.) Never played the original game b.) Have no association with the source material or game or c.) Assume you have figured out exactly what a great game needs to be before you've seen it and guess at it's entire dev cycle.

I have a hard time buying that humblebrag that you made it to 'grade 10/11'. And the acting bit before hand was the tail end of an ARG that had been going on for a few months before the GDC. I give them props for how expansive the whole thing was and keeping the entire party in character throughout. As far as role-playing games goes, this was a cool example of what Paradox as shepherd can mean for their commitment to World of Darkness and VtM.

I still play the original and I'm looking forward to this. Please, let it be finished at release, have decent combat, and great skill effects.

I'll pass. I have no desire to ruin the memory of an original, quirky, and damned fun RPG by playing what will most likely be yet another mediocre attempt to cash in on nostalgia.

You could just wait to see how it turns out.

And yes, the original was fun and quirky with a lot of amazing details. They also ran out of money trying to get it out the door and there are a LOT of issues. Even barring the fan patches.

I can't see putting something up on a pedestal that is so imperfect. No matter how great its "great" materials are.

According the IGN article on this, it has been in development since 2015. So that's a 4-5 year dev cycle, not 18 months

    Here's my issue...

IGN has an early hand's on preview (I suspect we'll see more publish throughout the day).  You start as a Light blood (or some such nonsense) and don't choose your Clan until later.

Now, from what little I can recall, your vampire clan was DETERMINED by the clan that bit you.  That was the point.  Otherwise, who would EVER purposely choose Nosferatu?

Other than that, it has my attention but I'm not sure.

Also, for those arguing... AFAIK it's on Steam, Epic, and GOG.  There may be other places as well.

True, and the process was tightly regulated.  The clans that were loyal to the Camarilla had to essentially seek permission from said vampire "government" to even sire a new vampire for their clan.

As the first video game showed, the penalty for unauthorized siring of a new vampire was death, most of the time for both the sire and the fledgling vampire.
