I am just here to post about a game I have no interest in, know nothing about, and yet I am going to state an opinion based on nothing pertinent at all. In other words, I am keeping with the status quo.
Kidding, I hope this game is awesome and the fans of it truly enjoy themselves.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.
In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.
I must make a confession - I really don't like the way "vampires" are done in concept in vast majority of books, movies etc... Just in general I think the whole vampire thing is a bag of shite
Now having said all that - I still am looking forward to this as I think it will be a good game regardless of my personal dislike of the whole blood sucking vampire crap.
The only half-decent vampire that I didn't hate was Cassidy from the Preacher comics. That was an example of how to do vampires right IMO. Actually the Preacher did a lot of things right as far as comics go - but that's a different story.
The whole capes and goth aspect of vampires being some kind of a refined "high society" that are into poetry and art and all this artsy fartsy romantic bullshit - that's what I can't stand.
Yeah I'm with you. I've never liked the "Dracula meets Harlequin Romance" type of vampire that Ann Rice and others popularized in the late 20th century not to mention all the crap it spawned like Twilight etc., that took over the teen fiction shelves for years.
Having said that, World of Darkness is a very interesting and unique RP system. Looking forward to Bloodlines 2.
I actually liked the whole Anne Rice take on it. I HATED the Twilight movies with the exception of one performance in the first one where her father was talking to her. It was so good I thought that if it was taken out and put into another movie it wouldn't seem out of place.
Before Anne Rice what did we have? Well, we had the Hammer Films that are AWESOME but are very much of their time. I do know of some other B movie vampires that were a bit meh.
There is Dracula but that really is a precursor to the Anne Rice Vampire. Suave and well spoken but with an animal side.

I suggest that you both read some of the RPG books then. You both appear to be confused as to what the game is really about.
So excited but since its a sequel I will have to beat the first game... Don't have to but I will. Does someone know where I can get some good mods that fix the bugs, maybe update the graphics a little, and makes the combat more modern?
NOCTURNE... yall remeber that one...
i played that back in the 90s
i also belive this game was out to back in the 9os i think.
i think i played it maybe once. but both were fun. would be cool to see how the remake turns out.
I'll pass. I have no desire to ruin the memory of an original, quirky, and damned fun RPG by playing what will most likely be yet another mediocre attempt to cash in on nostalgia.
Here we go again. I agree with this but people will get all hyped up without knowing crap as to how the game will be. All they have to do is show a cut scene or movie and people will scream its the best thing.

Aren't you both similair by thinking that it is a mediocre attempt to cash in on nostalgia without "knowing crap" as to how the game will be? And seeing a cut scene or movie to come up with your assessment?
What you've just done is say that you are the same "type" as those saying it's the best thing but with very little to go on. You just choose the oppositve opinion.
OR, you can just, you know, see how it will be.

Vampires in VtM are similar to those found in the Blade and Underworld movies, though far more fleshed out.
There's a house for every taste and variety of vampire. There are high society nobles, punks, goths, mages, classic Nosferatu movie vampires and more.

The GOG version comes with the unofficial patch (and they updated to the latest stable version 2 days ago). It's the basic version, because they can't alter the game content and the plus unofficial patch alter the content. The Steam version requires to install the unofficial patch manually. I wouldn't install the "plus" version for a first playthrough.
There is a texture update mod here that requires the unofficial patch 10.2.
On the flip side, you'd be hard-pressed to find a Toreador that isn't interested in high society or the arts.
yeeeeaaahhhh, that's the character I play.
I'd love to play a Malkavian but have been reticent to jump into the deep end of madness.
Malkavians enjoy a double-edged sword, to be sure. But they also enjoy a David Bowie-esque set of eyes (heterochromia), so there's that benefit.
The Clans of the Masquerade are incredibly diverse and hugely interesting. My favorite has to be the Tzimisce, and I wish I could play as one in these games.
I never had friends who would do tabletop, so I've never had the chance to play, but I've spent quite a bit of time reading about the lore and world. I'm very happy to see a sequel on the horizon!
Oh man that's criminal, there are some online services that can help you find nearby role-players but they are spotty at best. Some of my best roleplaying has been Masquerade. If you can find some role-players you just need to tell the DMKano types they don't need a cape to play.
There is roleplaying that can be done online, in fact what are MMORPG's for? Just find a good guild.

Bought the game off of GOG. Looking forward to jumping into the game. I haven't tried to play the game since I was about or 14 or 15 so I am keen to see how I like the game now.
Edit: Didn't get far the first time as I remember hating the way the game played
It's clunky, especially in 3rd person. Guns are better than melee (forced 3rd person) because of that but guns require putting points into firearms to not suck at it.

I find it a very interesting IP. I really wish we could get a Bloodlines style MMORPG (or even shared world), because that would be such a unique gaming experience. There's a lot more political power grappling in it than is obvious at first glance, but it never loses the brutality of its core subjects: Vampirism and Humanity as two competing forces in an effort to achieve a healthy balance.
Mass hysteria over a game nobody has seen a single minute of,really sad. Then this staged setup and interviews that are again going to do nothing but give us fake marketing ,,you think the employees interviewed are going to come out and say, this game is just average or even bad?
Let's use some common sense here, geesh. It's an announcement, nothing more. There is only ONE bit of valuable information to be taken from this, they are not going to be putting much time effort into making this game,to me that would make me way more skeptical than hyped.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

The length of development is a concern, but if like me you put nothing into a game before it launches and is reviewed not a major one, once it comes out we will see.

Length of development is a concern? Why do people think they just started to work on the game?
They started pre-production in late 2015 and full production in April 2016. The game release in 2020. 4 years is a concern???

That's good to hear, I thought it was less than that.
Malkavian all the way! No sparkles, just insanity. How blessed we are.

This could make your blood boil but Tremere all the way for me

Time to finally finish those two before the new one comes out.
Arcanum is on sale too, from the same devs.

Kyleran on yours sincerely
'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'
Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...
'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'
Gdemami absolutely not being an armchair developer
