Why is every wow news post filled with people that dont play wow complaining? If you don't like wow don't click on the article maybe? This is how flying has been handled for the past 6-7 years.
It's been idiotic for the entire time they've done it. Being old doesn't make it less idiotic. In fact it makes it more irritating and more painful every time they repeat the same idiocy. It's why Live is in the shitshow it's in and subs are in the dumper.
It's the same old bipolar attitude they've had about flying. I get the impression that they've regretted adding flying since shortly after they added it lol.

I remember once back in the WotLK days a rogue maneuvered himself above me as I was chatting while hovering somewhere up fairly high, he dismounted and ganked me on the way down. Kudos to him though. That's a tough maneuver to pull off... tricky timing,

I've always wondered why you can't just hop on your flying mount and fly in new expansions.
Imagine how stupid it would be if in the new expansion after getting your epic land mount you couldn't ride it and had to wait or pay gold or do some stupid quest and until then had to just walk.
This was a novelty back in TBC now it just looks insulting.
Because there won't be any economy. Because a lot of the challenge at the beginning will be gone if you can just land on top of whatever you need and fly away afterwards. Because it's a game... there needs to be something to work towards.
I never get this type of complains. This is no different than asking why you don't just get the best gear in the game, so that you can actually enjoy the game... WoW doesn't have that option, but there are a lot of other games you can get whatever you want, as long as you are willing to pay the right price.
So design the game for flying. Have caves, underground content, buildings, floating islands, lightning storms, flying enemies, barriers and weather effects. It's stupid to see that bird flying in what looks like normal air and not be able to use the flying mount from TBC.
Do you think they should have something to unlock land mounts every expansion as well?
I'm not asking for the best gear in the game, I'm asking for a mount I already got to still work.
I know that what you say think it's cool, but it genuinely sounds awful. That's literally worst than having to run around on the ground, so I don't see the point in that, just so that you can fly...
Do I think that there should be something to unlock ground mounts every game? No because you literally can't compare what ground mounts and flying mounts bring to the game.
If you think those kids that would constantly gank players were cancer wait till you actually give them wings lol.
Also the only reason there is actually an achievement for flying is because since flying being available at the beginning is a bad idea and it will be a while before it's available that achievement is something that literally everyone will get passively as long as they play 2-3 hours per week.
Btw to clarify I'm not thrilled to run on the ground, but the game isn't designed to have flying mounts and not ruin quite a bit of the experience.

Yes I know people complained about e.g. 20 minute treks across the Karanas (in EQ1) or others in e.g. DAoC but surely this could be something for people to work towards ....

Yes I know people complained about e.g. 20 minute treks across the Karanas (in EQ1) or others in e.g. DAoC but surely this could be something for people to work towards ....
