The PVE would still suck , the worst PVE ive seen ... just terrible .. and negates anythig positive that BDO does imo
I've had the game for a couple of years and the PvE was so bland and uninspiring I gave up on it. I've tried a couple of times to get into it, but the uninteresting PvE puts me off it again.
PVE bland?
You know PVE are not just fighting mobs right, you know that right?

Fighting things yes but the other PvE is one of the most fun I have had so I disagree. I loved the farming, trading, horse breeding, housing, exploration, worker empire aspects to name a few things aside from combat that is PvE and really well done.
the whole goal of BDO is to gear your character so you can survive in pvp/pve, but the mechanics of pvp/pve feel so bad that it isn't worth doing. so why would you play BDO to participate in something that sucked balls to begin with?
Most of the praise I see for BDO is based on things other than combat, mainly the life skill elements in particular. It would seem for those so inclined that combat and the related numbers, and the other issues routinely critiqued, aren't so important they override what they do enjoy about the game.
An appeal not shared by you, or understood by you, doesn't negate it for those that have it. If everyone wanted the exact same game there would be only one to have.
So, the reason some play BDO is tastes vary, and the only taste that matters when choosing what to play is your own.
Have been playing for quite a while now, and it is one of my favourite games, i don't engage in any kind of combat, about the only time i engage in PVE combat is for guild quests, usually killing various mobs in kamy usually no more than 3 times a week. Currently 26% towards level 63, but only because i leave my character overnight bashing the training dummies, don't want to waste my actual play time on grinding after all
Suprised you play this game considering Tencent has invested money in Kakao and i noticed in the other thread you said you have concerns about Tencents investment in Epic
I have a lot of concerns about Tencent, its not about influence though, but the insidious nature of their investments and how much access to data they have. By now Tencent has a lot of fingers in a lot of pies and that in of itself is also concerning.
Tencent is everywhere, that includes activision blizzard, riot games, supercell, epic games, Ubisoft, paradox even fortnite and pubg, so almost nothing is really west anymore.

Isn't this sort of like saying you play golf, but never actually hit the ball, (except perhaps on the driving range) just ride around in the cart and tend to the greens?

Does using a credit card help you with enchanting? If it does, I think that is the whole purpose...
Of course it does, and that's the main problem.
In the last 10 years, I played two MMOs with some of the best potential to be the best; BDO and Archeage, both ruined by their Cash Shop.
BDO Cash Shop in itself it is not that bad, as you can basically obtain everything it sells if you grind enough. Yet the Enhancement system sucks balls. Also it's PvE is very simplistic and it's based on DPS. No team work required.
Archeage, potentially was even better than BDO, as its PvE is much better. But its cash shop its the worst ever implemented in a MMO, heavily influencing the in-game economy.
Both games, are what I call Sandpark, a mix of Themepark and Sandbox, which I believe is the perfect formula for future MMOs. Developers should look at Archeage and BDO design and improve on those, improving the PvE experience and making it a group game, getting rid of the enhancement system, and scale back the cash shop (or get rid of it all together).

I quit after level 15 to 20 or so which took me about 10 minutes to accomplish. I’ve never played a game where it didn’t matter what I did, and that seemed very strange for me.
I never equipped any gear because I didn’t need to, I was pulling 5 to 10 mobs at level 4... wtf! It didn’t really matter what keys I hit on the keyboard or which order I didn’t them in. I actually started testing smashing random keys and I was still killing everything. I felt bad for the developers that spend so much time designing these zones that looked awesome, but that I was just blowing through.
i keep hearing about how much there's to do in the game but everytime a video of it comes my way it's pretty much always just some dude zooming around between trash mobs for the entirety of the video.
The combat felt dynamic, but overall, the game felt like more like a un-fun grind then an epic adventure.
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.
On combat: BDO PvE is designed to be a middle ground between ARPG games like Diablo and Path of Exile, and traditional action combat MMOs like Blade & Soul or TERA. You have more complexity and skill choice than an ARPG, but still maintain the feel of being super powerful and able to take on an army that Diablo gives you.
There is certainly more challenging PvE than critics want to admit, and I highly doubt they've fought the Very hard dark rift bosses or make an effort to go to areas designed for their gear level. Doing Bashims with TRI gear is like doing UBRS with gear from AQ40. Of course content is easy when you outgear it.
There's a lot to like about BDO if you're the target audience, but it's definitely not perfect and won't appeal to everyone.

That's a very good way to put it.
And sort of the feeling I got. You mow down a lot of mobs like you would in Diablo or any similar game.
It's really no easier than me grinding mobs in Lineage 2. Or even lord of the rings online.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
I have to agree with the idea of quick kills for trash mobs being a good game design, I mean, outside a boss mob, I don't want a slog fest to deal with what amounts to generic trash mobs, that makes the game feel slow and sluggish when the fights drag on, especially if they are not actually important fights.
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.
So basically what you are saying is it would rock if it wasn't free to play lol. Sadly there are a lot of free to play games that would be decent if they weren't based around micro transactions.
BDO have a great foundation when It comes to quests, mini games, farming, crafting, sailing, hunting and ofc the open world, no loading zones and well crafted one with sweet graphics.
Then we have the enchantment aspect of the game, you have your armor, weapon and trinkets, now you have to enchant em to get better stats and that are really stupid system to begin with, yes I understand it is kinda normal in Asian games to have some kind of grind.
If they dropped all this enchantment system and went full classic drops, sets via quests, crafting, bosses like western games I'm sure this game would boom in players, I don't mind farming or grind but the idiotic enchantment system really ruins the game, the game it self has so many fun things to do so many life things to do, but If you want to compete you have to play the RNG gods in enchantment system.
I would like too see armour sets you can find in drops like in EQ, you fight bosses, mobs and hoping for a good drop.
Just my few cents on the matter.
Failstacks are the single most mentally abusive game mechanic ever devised, drive people insane then drive them to the cash shop. But as you stated, that's normal for Asia.

Sounds like fun, count me in!
Translation - I forgot Tencent had invested in Kakao so Im just going to side step this with jokes.
Not going to grind 8 hours a day on the same 3 monster types for 12 weeks to earn a level. No one in their right mind can think that is fun. Questing is like walking 20 minutes or riding 10 minutes to get to the next click and back again for no exp.
All we have to choose is how we spend the time we have.

Level 60 is the soft cap when you stop gaining new abilities and meaningful power upgrades. You can grind out 59-60 in 5-20 hours depending on which XP buffs you stack. The levels beyond that mean very little, and you gain them more as a side effect of grinding for skill points and silver.
BDO's world - top notch. Animations - top notch. Boobie animations - top notch Action combat - top notch. The number of NPCs and scope of the cities - top notch.
Added one. Or is it two?
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
I found the combat in BDO to be one of the best I have personally experienced in any game. The problem I find now is the combat in pretty much every other mmo / game in general I play does not live up to that fun.
The only reason I stopped playing the game was due to the frustration of trying to upgrade my gear. I am fine with having to plus gear and having the change to fail that gear. I am even okay with having to repair the gear after so many failed attempts. The most frustrating part is going backwards or in the case of jewelry completely deleting the item.
I would come back to this game in a heartbeat if they did the following.
Leave the base mechanic of upgrading items in place
Leave the need to repair the item after failed attempts in place
REMOVE the need to spend 10 hours building fail stacks (most frustrating experience of my life)
REMOVE going backwards on armor when you fail
REMOVE destroying jewelry when you fail
Maybe significantly lower the chance of upgrading an item since you are no longer going backwards to still make it challenging. This would also somewhat replace the need to use resources since you are no longer destroying your gear or going from TET to PRI having to build back up.
I would 100% be playing this game right now if those changes were made. The only down side to the changes would be alot more people hitting that end game armor set which I feel can be countered by coming out with new sets of gear to work towards over time.
