I wonder how much the EVE Online devs paid Pc Gamer for that article *cough* ADVERTISEMENT *cough*?
The writer obviously forgot to mention that you do all this "open endedness" through an avatar and spend most of your time clicking black on a screen. This is the worst comparison i think i have ever seen with MMORPGs, that is like comparing one sport to another, they are just two totally different things.
WoW, may not be as detailed and engrossing as EVE but for the average gamer, is a great 2 hour blast. Whether a game is good is a matter of opinion and that is a fact. Despite what the biased writer put, the figures prove WoW is more popular.
A fair comparison if the writer wanted to get the feeling across of open endedness, would be WoW vs SWG, still very different games but at least you could relate to them both.
Also about the person who was talking about how Korea and their games and how Americans are being narrow minded.. You are doing exactly the same with Korea and being somewhat narrow minded. Worldwide, World of Warcraft is the most popular MMORPG and Korea is only 1 country (unless you count north and south lol.) How many of the popular games in Korea actually sell a lot of copies on a large scale? Lineage 2 isn't considered very popular among westerners.
