You had at least 3 years to do so, no questions asked ....
... after 3 years CIG started to act according to their 30 days rule.
3 years was not enough to make up your mind?

I first thought your response was a joke but then realized you were serious. I pledged in 2012. 3 years after I pledged was 2015. It’s about to hit 2020 now. If they told me in 2012, or even 2015 that it would be 2020 and I still would not have gotten any part of SQ42 I would have gladly taken my money back. So yeah, despite being a fan if I could get my cash back now I’d do so.

Have you considered one of the many ship trading channels (aka the - allowed - "Grey market")?
Especially if you have some original LTI ships, which are still in high demand. Reddit may be a place to start.
Or the official forum. CIG is offering secure channels to trade ships. It was just the Black Market with its highly inflated prices that was crushed by CIG.
Can it be that the OP does not want to discuss this topic any further now that the episode has aired and it did not contain anything scandalous and juicy enough?
I can recommend the Star Citizen "Newsweek" article (link: see the "Community" thread here) as a more detail heavy addendum to his BBC clip.

Hey, better than the knee-jerkers crying about clickbait, fake news, media hit pieces and so on.
I don't think anyone thought this was going to be some deep dive expose, it's never been that type of show.
This is hilarious. See you in EVE Online. Their winter season just started.
In EVE (in my case, 15 years now). And NMS. And Elite Dangerous. And Freelancer. And SWTOR. And SWG Emulator. And Dual Universe .....
And Star Citizen.
One can play (and like) multiple space games ....
Have fun
You can like many space games, I've enjoyed several on your list, but all of those titles require serious time and committment to really progress therefore should be (IMO) enjoyed exclusively, one at time.
If not, you are doing it wrong.
If you are playing several or all of those simultaneously (or even in the same year) it explains much why your viewpoint on SC and mine are so very different.
It comes down to, for you progression is almost irrelevant, hence you can be happy dinking about in SC while for me progression is really everything and is almost totally lacking in SC which is why I feel it isn't even a true game yet.

Yes. Sums it up nicely.
Despite that i am still a multi-billionaire (or equivalent) in many of those games, own and fly basically every ship i want (including the big ones), have skilled out almost all skill trees and own quite a collection of rare in game objects. I have killed my fair share of foes, player avatars and NPC alike.
Its just not a race anymore, because i personally consider it pointless now. I have seen too often people going on raids just to get their complete Tier XX set, only to have it made obsolete 2 days later by the next patch. Then do it all again. And again.
I have seen countless "quick progression" fans burn bright like a flare ... and vanish as quickly ... wandering over to the next en-vogue game. Good for them. Not my playstyle.
Huge WingCommander fan. I even liked CR’s WingCommander movie.
Oh, I didn't know that was a thing. Just watched the trailer and I'm TOTALLY watching that this weekend!
Those old British "Lightning" combat jets converted into space fighters ;-)
Especially when the tractor shoves the damaged fighter off the flight deck, like in an old WW2 movie about the war in the Pacific.
Have fun
so apparently it's "not available" through Amazon but I found a cheap copy on UK Amazon (I have a multiregion bluray/dvd player) so I'll get to see it when it arrives.

So another article beating the same dead horse that countless others already did articles about? Hmmm
Here's the answer in short: Because CIG wants to & they have the resources to sustain that, they are not in a rush forcing the release of the game, that much is visible to everyone I think.
All it really amounts to is more free advertising. If there were any actual foul play afoot, you can bet consumer watchdogs would be all over it. But since the media (we all know their angle, create drama to make money) is the only people interested in this topic, well besides the people that just love to hate on games, but at the end of the day, all it amounts to is free advertisement.
Meanwhile, CIG is laughing all the way to the bank!

I agree with the free advertising. How can consumer watchdogs actually be over something that which uses the Kickstarter terms of use. They basically can promise the world and deliver nothing and the people who put money in, have no recourse. It is throw away money, basically.
So far i have never regretted a crowdfunding. Shadowrun the Board Game is taking its sweet time to get to Europe, but the guys in the US that already got it like it. Computer Games like Wasteland were excellent.
I have to say the quality was not good, to allow "experts" to say 250 million is not a lot of money because GTA 5 cost the same and not query that shows the level of "investigation". GTA 5 is out, we have no idea when SC will be out and how much more money it will take to make. Not only that we have no idea it will make a big a splash as GTA 5, it may not be that good.
After that I watched no more, I did mention in a previous post that Click is hardly Panorama it is not known for uncovering much of anything.

One game - WOW - that really makes me want to crowd fund another game. *sarcasm off*
If you look at the list of crowd funded games most are in the 50K to 500K arena, 200+Million is like a whole 'nother realm. If you look at games that had ~1 million in kickstarter funds, NONE ever made it to market. That is an interesting factoid.

There are many more crowdfunding sites than Kickstarter. Fig springs into my mind. So your factoid is just that - a factoid.
I backed much more than one game. I did not regret a single one that I backed. I just mentioned one as an example. Here .... have a Cookie together with your sarcasm. Tastes better ;-)
So my question is when is the game going into beta and when will it launch? If the game is at the halfway point does that mean another five years until launch?
If you're having a good time now, then good for you. I suspect there are a lot of people waiting for a final version before they even consider the game at this point due to possible unforeseen changes to the game before a final version is experienced.

Anyone's guess at this stage and really it depends on what they intend to lauch with (if they even know themselves).
I wouldn't say it is anywhere near the halfway point, even if they just go for 5-10 systems or even if they just launch with tier zero professions. There is just so much to be done. Another 5 years at $50+ million per year with their current staff numbers, we're talking about $550 - $600 million on a fucking computer game....

You mean the ROADMAP that continually moves the release forward in the future, never getting closer?

That is what all the Toy Story movies cost to develop together and that includes developing the software for the development and animation. That is an obscene amount of money for a bloody game.
