Wolcen launching today and has no HC mode

It is causing quite a stir that this option is not available. People don't want to delete their own character and that isn't hardcore it has to be done to them when they die. I don't play HC but I can understand the angst.

I will probably play the game offline though.

    The problem is the game is playable with ones eyes shut, thats how easy it is. And that right there is the problem.

    I hear that they quite ramped up the difficulty.

    And also, its just a first out of beta release. They never said they will not add HC later.

    But players want to play Hardcore from the get go not wait for it to be introduced later. Anyway that is what the thread on steam is complaining about. ARPG fans are very partial to their HC mode.

    I will be downloading the game in like an hour. The advice is to uninstall the beta version and download when it launches.

    This might be an unpopular opinion but with each update, patch etc. I felt the game became more generic. I wonder how the final product feels so I will definitely be playing tonight but it went from must play to interesting over the course of the last 3 years. Last Epoch is the opposite for me, started out a bit bland but getting more and more interesting.

    No HC means no money from me.  It's really that simple.  Without the adrenaline feeling of risking to lose everything, ARPG just don't do it for me.

    That's actually kind of dumb. I play HC in Diablo 3 as well as regular. I was actually pretty proud to hit GR95 this season in HC... if you know what that means :)

    HC is not the place where you learn the finer details of a build much less learn how to play a new game. I experiment and learn in regular and only then do I make that build in HC.

    Yeah I'm not seeing the problem here. Sure there's no leaderboard or anything but you have control over how you play. If it doesn't have hardcore just make it yourself.

    is it a definite bug or do some people not have it? Well, I just bought it so I have no issues testing that out.

    I like the look of the world. So that's a start.

    edit: not sure if it's a bug or not but I haven't played a bit, just made a character and online mode and offline mode might just "be different."

    So my character shows up in Offline Mode (as that is where I saved the character) but does not show up in online mode. If it wasn't like this during development then sure, it's a bug. Otherwise it seems they want them to be separated.

    Mine saved just fine.

    Some people might be getting confused with the separate lists for online and offline characters. You can't use offline characters online nor the other way around. I think D2 was the same as I recall.

    Mine was saved fine in offline mode.

    As for the no-HC, not sure the uproar, play and delete.  Same as no-reload challenges in games like BG.

    Not sure why people expect any game to launch well with multiplayer, it just doesn't happen very often if at all.

    The game saves at certain points by itself. I think the reason people were having difficulties were because they did not reach the checkpoint.

    I havent had a chance to jump in and play. Havent played since early builds about 2 years ago. 

    Those of you playing, (not accounting for the online being bugged up) how are you liking it? 
    Lots of depth and gameplay? Loot? Difficulty?

    Depth and gameplay are great. The builds are interesting and beautiful to watch. Loot so far has been the typical run of the mill ARPG stuff. Difficulty non-existent as of yet. Most things die instantly even in expeditions.

    So it needs some tweaking to the difficulty, and with time more loot added. I like some challenge to my end game content. Hopefully as the game evolves we can see some sort of competitive end game challenges or leagues.

    God I just saw the railgun. The autoturret too. Changed my mind going to make a pistol ranger. So many things I want to try. So exciting.

    It definitely needs to turn difficulty up a bit. It's probably a year or more away from having any sort of league. Lots of just basic gameplay bugs to iron out, and group play still isn't added even though its advertised as such.

    I know right? So many fun skills to try. I'm near the end of Act 2 with my pure caster but there are so many other things. I'm thinking turret + railgun and my trusty tank golem with a pistol and a catalyst for my 2nd character :)

    I also found a unique 2HD sword that allows a pure melee character to cast lightning spells. Apparently there are several uniques that do things like that for even more hybrid options.

    Just to update what I wrote above about the unique 2HD that allows the use of lightning skills while equipped... well it turns out the rail gun shoots lightning so it can be used.

    So I'm now leveling a 2HD fighter with a couple of mobility skills and Bleeding Edge + the rail gun and chain lightning as the willpower dump.

    I don't know what to call this class but I like it.

    Sounds like a fun build. I was looking at some of the builds on youtube but part of the fun is creating your own builds since game is still in an early phase. Never know what one can come up with.

    I read on their forums that they will be adding native gamepad support within the first 6 months after the official launch of the game. I'm definitely buying the game after that update.
