Very, very few people care about this game anymore. It’s a lifeless bore...

Sure... only 1 million individual backers in Alpha, a number which double over past years, best dung ding ever in 2020 (+40%)... and new gameplay and contents to be added over the next quarterly patch.

The number of backers was 732 000 when it was last calculated, not 1 million.

Also there's no calculation that would tell how much it's risen during 2020. You just pulled that rise out of your ass.

False. What you call calculation is a very rough approximation that data collector himself commented as not correct:

Interesting to see that over the past week or so, civilian numbers were decreasing – meaning that all those people from the free flight are converting to full game owners… But Chris claim about hitting 1M unique players this year seems to be true (and I was wrong to doubt it)

Data numbers were false by at least 30%.... but let's pretend the author himself never said CR was right :)

I'm not questioning the claim about 1M unique players this year. But it's about total number of players, including free trials. That doesn't tell you the number of backers.

Everyone craps on this game that is actually improving, proving it and allowing players to experience it. It's not 'released' but it is real.

What I can't figure out is why are there so many haters of this game but interest in CU is either ripe with anticipation or simply silently dropped. They have been in development for roughly the same time and have nothing playable to the paying public and have to show random screenshots of their progression rather than actually present the playable progress to the supporters.

Sure it's a slow mess, but I give em props for their transparency and allowing people to enjoy the journey. That beats CU, AoC, and Pantheon who make little progress behind closed doors.

If I want a world in which people can purchase success and power with cash, I'll play Real Life. Keep Virtual Worlds Virtual!

Well. Pantheon doesn’t have 300 million usd - they’re launching alpha now btw - and have long video streams with the devs showing all they’ve
been working on and the challenges they’ve faced along the way. And Star citizen didn’t have Chris roberts die in the middle of development like Brad Mquaid did.

...Or ever increasing stretch goals. Pantheon has had pretty much the same direction from day one. The messy development of SC has been like nothing else. Honestly considering how much has gone into SC, it's not well known in the MMO world with most folks currently playing MMOs such as FFXIV, WoW, swtor, gw2 ect. It really appeals to a very very small audience, and is doomed to fail if  it ever launches officially, hence why it never leaves alpha.

The 890 jump and the constellation phoenix are great examples of false advertising or scam.

Oh drake gamers are claiming the CIG doesn't know how sell and make highend ships. They hate origins ships so much I think CIG remove origin ships and give back money to the origin fans.
