How in the hell is a scam news? buyer beware type of thing going on here? PSA for a completely horrible investment idea? Hey Zach, sorry life played kick ball with your bean bag, great rebound though, many fools and their money are soon parted.

In case you cannot see through my sarcasm, this is trash reporting on a crap topic. Seriously MMORPG.com for shame.
Doubt you even read the article but... news is news. It's not advertising it's straight up news.

Really strange how everyone is so up in arms over a news piece about a Kickstarter mmo.

Everyone is making it seem like it's an affront to their timid sensibilities that such a thing like a questionable mmorpg was reported on.

Here's more news... even if they had 350 million in funding you'd still have people coming here and complaining that mmorpg reported on it.

Call me when they come to your place and force you to open your wallet and fund these games, otherwise, I like hearing about upcoming mmos, and especially the ridiculous ones like this.

I really think MMORPG.com need to pull the plug on this one until they know more about the team. I would use the same principle that I notice is missing from so much broadcast, paper and social media "news": direct contact clears up so much, rather than just report you need to investigate.

This is ridiculous. Apparently all you need is a KS with "MMO" in it and it gets instant press here and at Massively.

Never mind the fact that it's 2 random unknowns who have never made a game in their lives and that they're promising everything for everyone, bigger than any MMO ever in record time.

It's mind boggling that anyone gives money to shit like this but do MMO game sites have to cover obvious crap like this too?

Everyone wants to jump on "This is a scam" bandwagon but give them a chance.

I honestly think this game has potential! They only been in development for 6months PART TIME, with only a couple people. I think they have a great idea, and I hope the succeed. Some of their ideas are big, and they might not be able to deliver 100% of their promises but I think they'll do everything they can to do that.
And several months of part time development is enough to be almost ready for alpha?

It's very possible to make a game on a $10k budget, or working on it only part time.  You just need to have far more limited ambitions.  What they propose to do is completely impractical to do on the level of resources that they request, even if they were highly competent, which they probably aren't.

So three people are working there and three people backed the highest bid. Looks, like this KS never had a chance to not be successful. ;)

I think the funniest thing about all of this is that they start this up when they know Americans are starting to get their other stimulus check....freaking disgusting.....anyone want to start an mmo company?!?!?

I think the idea of far more modder input in gaming generally is great, though that would not suit every game. But here I question the team, they are biting of far more than they can chew, this project has failure built into it.

So make up some sob story, promise the world = 10k in 9 hours.

Saddest part people still fall for this scam.

Well maybe he'll make good on it like pantheon, unchained, star citizen and have a full rewarding career of doing nothing but making empty promise's preying on people's dreams, i mean seriously just never cancel it and you're good. F*ck must be nice to be completely devoid of any morals whatsoever.

AS far as this being news, it IS news simply because of the outrageous amount they are asking for.

Also, this is an mmorpg site and it's the site's business to report on what's going on in the mmorpg world. Regardless if people like it or not.

I would say that this game is an example of why crowdfunding should require developers/creators to supply an actual breakdown of why they are asking for their stated amount.

Remember, crowdfunding is not just making a product from scratch. It could just be asking for marketing money or money to help with testing or any number of things.

    Obviously, that's not this game.

I'm skeptical about their initial ask.

As I've said before, all the games I've help crowdfund have launched with two mmorpg's pending and I'm still fine with "let it ride" as far as they are concerned.

I would not give money to this with this current offering.

    Nor would I.

Did multiple people actually buy the $2k tiers?  If those are legit then that's insane...

Come on man - the first rule of a successful KS scam - spend as much of your own money after successful funding to make it appear "real" and to get others to think - well look people are donating - lets do it - the idea is to create hype and FOMO - and get masses jumping on the bandwagon.

Of course it's not fucking legit.

Wow, the asked for a whole $10,000 to make an MMO? If I see a KS under $50 million for an actual MMO, I think it's time to just ignore these scams.

I hear rumors that there is one that has received over $350 million.....No way that one can be a scam right?
