You know what cracks me up is all these people saying they won't play this game, will be the first ones buying it. They will rant and rave about not buying it, but as soon as its on the shelves they'll be playing.
I like the fact they aren't going to use instancing, I like the fact that you have to rely on others to get things done. I like the fact that massive multiplayer means just that. And most importantly, I like the fact that these wanna be gamers, won't be playing because it'll be "to hard". Oh they'll buy the game, but they'll quit after their free month, when they realize its not wow, or eq2 or any of these other solo friendly games.
The reason this game won't fail, is simply because games like wow, eq2, swg, and countless other mmo's that sucked have created a fail proof slot for a game of this magnitude.
People who praise wow should check the addon forums, some of the key guys who were developing the addons, probably the biggest part of the wow community have all stopped playing and coding for the game. It does not and will never have the kind of community that eq had, and that vanguard will. Quote me numbers all day long, but the reason wow even has the numbers it does, is because everquest revolutionized the market, and made mmo the genre that it is. EQ and the hardcore gamers are the reason mmo's exist (ok and uo too, uo was what got me playing eq).

I played a Warrior who was sadly a WIMPIOR in EQ due to these same sad sack devs. The sorry sack devs couldn't pay me enough to play their crappy game! Brad couldn't design decent classes balance once, he certainly will fail again. His ego will have him using that same sorry excuse of the "Vision", he can have that myopic "Vision" crap. The smart players know to avoid his work.

Eq had pvp, and some of the most vicious pvp battles i've ever seen. Wow pvp sucked in comparison, i've played both. You want skilled pvp, play eq, in wow its easy to kill people, i found now skill at all in wow pvp.
Hardcore is not about loot hogs, hardcore is about being a big part of the game and the community. Yes, that means putting in quite a bit of time into the game, all games have hardcore players who generally try to make a game better.
But its no loss that you won't be playing vanguard, just makes the game all the more appealing to me.

Let me clue you in on a few basics regarding reading comprehension, seeing as how the post you had deleted, you took completely out of context. The post that I had quoted in my deleted post was trying to make a point that the majority of MMORPG gamers view INCORRECTLY that WoW's playerbase consists of children. I agreed with this, which means that I also think that WoW's community is too often grouped under that particular stereotype. However, by pointing my finger at sebbonx's post, it can clearly be seen why the 'children play WoW' stereotype is so prevalent.
Also, might I add, before posting in a thread and assuming something about someone, you should at least read back a couple pages in the thread to get a general idea of what has been talked about. Just a handful of posts back I had stated that I was a WoW player (it being my first MMO), and that while I found Vanguard's concepts intriguing, I was put off by the Vanguard community and their elitist attitude towards people from WoW. It seemed that they would just naturally assume that WoW players were present to cause trouble and show how their game was superior. Sadly, I am now beginning to see where this attitude has come from, as clearly evidenced by posters such as yourself and sebbonx.

I will also tell you that when brad announced that he will need a publisher for a new game in the works by many former EQ DEVs, he received many offers from different publishers. so you can bet he chose Microsoft for a reason and that is funding and support. Also if you would be following Vanguard in the slightest way you would be reading nothing but good from beta testers (olohs write up for example) and the recent and past Fanguards (vanguard fan fairs) etc. all in all I will tell you this as fact: that Vanguard will most definitely be released and it will almost certainly have well over 100k players judging on just the current official forums member count (20k).
I also noticed a strange coincidence in that Heltern and sebbonx both have registerd on the same day. It seems they are also similar in regards to their sigs beings exactly the same except for the way they are written Vanguard sucks, another boring EQ clone. Take a look at their boards and all the kiddies posting flames, can't wait till Conan comes out and they can't play! and 5 million players and your aiming for 100k?! Just wanna say - I've never been as hooked to any MMOG as I was to MUDs. Brad McQuaid states over and over that he is inspired by his Mudding days. EQ1 was awesome for its time. Vanguard is going to be _the_ next online addiction. Have faith and just wait for it. Trust in the fact that the guy with the veto has his roots in the right places.

You know what cracks me up is all these people saying they won't play this game, will be the first ones buying it. They will rant and rave about not buying it, but as soon as its on the shelves they'll be playing.
I like the fact they aren't going to use instancing, I like the fact that you have to rely on others to get things done. I like the fact that massive multiplayer means just that. And most importantly, I like the fact that these wanna be gamers, won't be playing because it'll be "to hard". Oh they'll buy the game, but they'll quit after their free month, when they realize its not wow, or eq2 or any of these other solo friendly games.
The reason this game won't fail, is simply because games like wow, eq2, swg, and countless other mmo's that sucked have created a fail proof slot for a game of this magnitude.
People who praise wow should check the addon forums, some of the key guys who were developing the addons, probably the biggest part of the wow community have all stopped playing and coding for the game. It does not and will never have the kind of community that eq had, and that vanguard will. Quote me numbers all day long, but the reason wow even has the numbers it does, is because everquest revolutionized the market, and made mmo the genre that it is. EQ and the hardcore gamers are the reason mmo's exist (ok and uo too, uo was what got me playing eq).

Umm, do YOU play WoW? WoW is about PvP OR PVE raiding (snooze). PvP takes skill, and there is a storyline (even if some dumb kids don't get it) about why the Horde and Alliance don't speak to each other, and are pretty much k.o.s. to each other everywhere. EQ and it's sorry clone Vangarbage are scared of PvP, it takes SKILL, something sadly lacking for the so called self egotistically named "hardcore".

I played a Warrior who was sadly a WIMPIOR in EQ due to these same sad sack devs. The sorry sack devs couldn't pay me enough to play their crappy game! Brad couldn't design decent classes balance once, he certainly will fail again. His ego will have him using that same sorry excuse of the "Vision", he can have that myopic "Vision" crap. The smart players know to avoid his work.
PvP is more a skill game then PVE till some serious work is done on mob AI.
Eq had pvp, and some of the most vicious pvp battles i've ever seen. Wow pvp sucked in comparison, i've played both. You want skilled pvp, play eq, in wow its easy to kill people, i found now skill at all in wow pvp.
Hardcore is not about loot hogs, hardcore is about being a big part of the game and the community. Yes, that means putting in quite a bit of time into the game, all games have hardcore players who generally try to make a game better.
But its no loss that you won't be playing vanguard, just makes the game all the more appealing to me.

Let me clue you in on a few basics regarding reading comprehension, seeing as how the post you had deleted, you took completely out of context. The post that I had quoted in my deleted post was trying to make a point that the majority of MMORPG gamers view INCORRECTLY that WoW's playerbase consists of children. I agreed with this, which means that I also think that WoW's community is too often grouped under that particular stereotype. However, by pointing my finger at sebbonx's post, it can clearly be seen why the 'children play WoW' stereotype is so prevalent.
Also, might I add, before posting in a thread and assuming something about someone, you should at least read back a couple pages in the thread to get a general idea of what has been talked about. Just a handful of posts back I had stated that I was a WoW player (it being my first MMO), and that while I found Vanguard's concepts intriguing, I was put off by the Vanguard community and their elitist attitude towards people from WoW. It seemed that they would just naturally assume that WoW players were present to cause trouble and show how their game was superior. Sadly, I am now beginning to see where this attitude has come from, as clearly evidenced by posters such as yourself and sebbonx.
Now I would suggest you do not label me as 'clearly a Vanguard player' or make any other such assumptions about me unless you actually know what you are talking about.

Also if you would be following Vanguard in the slightest way you would be reading nothing but good from beta testers (olohs write up for example) and the recent and past Fanguards (vanguard fan fairs) etc. all in all I will tell you this as fact: that Vanguard will most definitely be released and it will almost certainly have well over 100k players judging on just the current official forums member count (20k).
I also noticed a strange coincidence in that Heltern and sebbonx both have registerd on the same day. It seems they are also similar in regards to their sigs beings exactly the same except for the way they are written Vanguard sucks, another boring EQ clone. Take a look at their boards and all the kiddies posting flames, can't wait till Conan comes out and they can't play! and 5 million players and your aiming for 100k?! Just wanna say - I've never been as hooked to any MMOG as I was to MUDs. Brad McQuaid states over and over that he is inspired by his Mudding days. EQ1 was awesome for its time. Vanguard is going to be _the_ next online addiction. Have faith and just wait for it. Trust in the fact that the guy with the veto has his roots in the right places.
