    1 PS5
    2 PS4
    1 XBox Series X
    1 Xbox One
    2 Nintendo Switches
    1 Nintendo Wii U
    1 Nintendo Wii
2 Desktop Gaming PCs (with 3 new ones waiting to be wrapped up for Christmas)
    1 Laptop gaming PC
    1 non-gaming laptop
    1 Macbook Air
    3 Ipads
    2 Ipad Minis

If the proposed Sony service is actually like the Gamepass (especially if there is some sort of PC connection) I would grab it immediately. The Gamepass Ultimate (for PC) is great because it lets me dabble in games for a day or two and for some reason I do that a lot more than I go and actually play the backlog of Steam games I own.  Maybe its because any game is instantly also available to my friends with no need to convince folks to buy a game to try it.

I'm the poster child for this service I guess.

    Apparently zero wives or children.....
One wife and 3 kids... that's how I explain the need...
Yep, we have all the consoles and multiple gaming PCs. The kids each have their favorites my wife does as do I. I love options and the variety of no game being off limits to our home and our family is a win for us.
I envy you, my wife hates video games but loves to play games like Scattergories.

    The horror ;)

    1 Xbox series X
    2 Switches
    4 Ipads
    2 gaming laptops
    1 regular laptop

    1 Switch OLED soon
    1 Steam Deck perhaps

    Ohh, and:

    1 wife
    2 kids

No. It's much better when your spouse does not like games.   Someone needs to bring you food and drink to sustain your long hours of battle!   :D

I wanted to bring up the idea of exclusivity and good deals limiting our gaming freedom. We all play on only certain platforms and buy games from certain sources, even being on Steam means I have no time for Epic apart from freebies.

These subscriptions tie you to the company involved even more, after all if you only play one game you are not getting your monies worth. So you play two or three, or four. It makes financial sense but ties you in to one menu, in other words you get nothing for free which is what the subscription may be making you think you are getting.
You know Scot, people actually like their consoles. ;)

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean. Ps5 is my favourite platform for gaming. I pay £35 a year for my sub and I get about £1400 free games and if you are an impulse buyer like me then close to £2000 on exclusive discounts.

Now there some MMOs that I don't get on my console. And some Xbox exclusives too.

Tbh, there hasn't been a single title before that I had cared. And if I would want to play Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield then I would buy an Xbox too. Another £350.a lot cheaper than almost any PC component.

The annual £35 is for online services. It's a bit more but you can sync sub to Black Friday sale. And you get a lot of contents for free, and there are several cosmetics and add-ons free for Plus members too.

I got my console for £350 directly from Sony, exclusive invite as a loyal customer.

How am I losing money here? This is the cheapest mode of high quality gaming.

I prefer a competitive market over a monopoly. If Microsoft hadn't bought Zenimax then Sony wouldn't had bought like 15 more studies to work on several projects and remakes. And without Gamepass, then again Sony didn't have to bring this new and much better subscription service neither.
I am thinking more of PC subscriptions but consoles make you buy into "our menu" just as much. We only have so much time to game, I have a subscription so I had better make that worth my while. This feeling we have restricts us from casting our gaming net far and wide.
Hence why I play one, and only one MMORPG at a time, and no other games.

Me too I cannot play more than one. I have tried and found I didn't enjoy either because I kept feeling I was missing out on the other while playing one. I guess I am too committed to an MMORPG when I play it and I want to experience everything slowly and playing two just destroys that immersion.
The question for gamers like ourselves is can we expect new MMO releases to be the one MMO we want to play or are we stuck with the best of what is out now? I think the way most people play MMOS now "in rotation" may have effected what developers thought they could get away with in terms of lack of gameplay and content. If the player base does not intend to live in a MMO why develop a huge amount of content and gameplay?

There will be a gamified virtual world that would dominate the market. It won't be called an MMO though.

I think this is a distinct possibility, everything from cloud gaming to the push for cross platform is moving that way albeit very slowly.

Who would of thunk that the biggest names in the business would pursue the subscription model for their whole libraries and more.

Look how much movies and television shows cost to produce and they’ve been feeding you for free or with a sub for decades.

My prediction is that they will add some kind of revenue generator along with the sub in due time.

Do not many of the subscription games have dlc to buy or indeed cash shops already? I would be astonished if they had not at least started down the road of additional revenue generation.

I’ve never seen the books for any entertainment company.
