I'm certainly no games developer, but hiring another "concept" artist doesn't really bring a warm feeling about actual progress towards delivery.

They should be well past the "concept" stage at this point, but hey, what do I know?

    Oh well, ever forward...

Yeah, and that was in "short" language.

Another conceptual artist?  They are only as good as the ideas behind the concepts.  VR is (or at least, should be) long past the need for conceptual artists.  How about hiring someone with actual 3D modelling and design experience instead?

I'm starting to get a real Star Citizen vibe here.
Sadly, at least Star citizen lets them play the parts that are finished.
    Can't even do that yet.
I had hope for this game, hype for this game, but it's devolved into the more standard "Yeah, guess I'll play it if it gets out" mentality.

Was number one on my list of games I can't wait to play, guess it'll be there for a lot longer now. This is also a big reason why I typically don't put money into games.. Great concept, I'll give you money when it's here and ready to play... don't care if it's the collectors edition or whatever.. Game first though.

They desperately need more funding to accelerate or even ensure eventual delivery, but only a few takers so far, heck even adding a few NFTs drew little interest.

I think you should hook up with Jacobs at Camelnot Unchained between the two of your pathetic updates and after how many years with nothing to show for it, just now getting to alpha for another tab target borefest no thanks.

She is there to assist the senior concept artist specifically for animations of which there appears to be a backlog. As noted in the newsletter.

    "Animations: In Progress UPDATED
What it is: Develop player and NPC animations to support locomotion, combat, emotes, and other gameplay.

    • Work will begin in January to create a concept art backlog for needed animations."

Before animators make changes or add animations they rely on concept artists to give a visualization first, kind of like a blueprint.

An overlooked and important part of the newsletter which will be the most impactful of Pantheon development going forward imo.

"Business Development is also running at full steam as we head into 2022. Discussions with potential partners continue and there is a lot of positive momentum for this year. Expect to hear more as these relationships develop."

Eeeh they didn't add them, no utility. They made some jpegs to sell hoping supporters would buy and cherish them for, for... help me out here for?

Didn't they say early last year that they would be pushing for alpha at the end of 2021?  Now they are saying this year they are pushing for alpha sometime in 2022?

Is there any progress at all I mean geez.

Yes. Chris Rowan(the CEO) around the beginning of 2021 said in a Developer Roundtable podcast that he was "hoping for alpha" that year. This was shortly after that 7 figure investment, heavily alluding to alpha happening by end of 2021.

There was also this tweet from Joppa near the end of 2020.

"Don't expect specific dates or time frames, but we've already begun discussing how to make our road to Alpha milestones and our progress towards/completion of those milestones more visible."

I love what they have to say in the developer discussions and so forth but a couple of things turned me off:

    1: No real substance yet.
    2: 10K lifetime sub.

So I threw some money at Fractured which seems to be making better progress.
What did they give in return for your investment, for the risk you assumed?

Looking back to projects like Darkfall and a few other Indie MMORPG's that have released and gone the way of the dodo bird.

    I don't see a reason why these guys can't release a game.

    I'm waiting....

    and waiting....

    and waiting....

Pushing toward alpha in 2022 doesn't mean that the alpha starts in 2022.  It means that at the end of 2022, the alpha is closer than it was at the start of 2022.

Maybe someone mixed the numbers up and its really 2202?

I'm just trying to be funny.

This team has taken a big hit and its got to be tough to get the ship back on course. The good news is that somebody else gets the chance to be a shining star.

You're going to have to accept we want different things in a game.
For me, crypto/NFTs/blockchain is a huge negative.

So nothing... You gave them money to work on THEIR game and you got NOTHING in return.

Man this shit has stop. Gamers deserve better than this. How the hell in this day in age, game developers/companies think this is ok? How in the hell do you think this is ok?

Gamers have been treated wrong. Free money, for years, nothing else.

    Stop this craziness in 2022.

edit- when's the game coming out? No clue huh.. smh.
