Maybe the way forward is multiple versions of the same game to cater to different audiences. There's WoW and WoW Classic. There's RS3 and OSRS. Developer's can modify a game to create a new version based on a different design philosophy. The versions will diverge more and more over time with updates, but that's OK since they will be focused on satisfying their niche. The thing is that they will need different teams with different philosophies for each version.

I do agree with this, but I feel like Blizzard is missing the mark with WotLK Classic since TBCC is going to automatically convert into WotLKC for 'reasons.' Not everyone likes every expansion, so keep them seperate would benefit them the most and even though they'll probably do a 'season of mastery' for TBCC down the road, again not everyone liked season of mastery for Classic, so its just creating a problem that can be easily avoided.
I feel like their thinking with Classic was that you should be able to progress through all three expansions with your characters/guild/community as you might have in the past, so they make the server automatically convert.

What they should have done is made a "frozen" copy of each server before each transition so that players who wanted to keep playing the old version could. Most importantly, they shouldn't charge you to keep your character on the frozen server. They would end up with three sets of servers (vanilla, tbc, and wrath) and all the character data to go with them, but they got the funds to cover it.

Carebear is a derogatory term for people who, typically, only play and only advocate for PvE content over PvP.

It's not really a 'make things easier' term.

That's true to an extent, but if you advocate the removal of PvP and the lessening of its importance in MMOs that does make you a "make things easier" type. But a different term would certainly be helpful. How about Sleepwalkers, would that be too much? :)

It's easy to make any RPG hard. Just don't equip any weapons, don't wear any armor, and don't use any spells.

If that's not hard enough, then play using only your left hand.

    And play solo.

I think there are two mistakes Blizzard made with Wrath. 1) They should have opened at least one fresh start server. 2) They should have included Patch 3.3 LFD because of obvious reasons.

They could have left the servers migrating from TBC to Wrath without LFD until 3.3 hits, but then offered LFD on the fresh servers so people would have an option.

It probably won't make much difference in the end though. People will either want to play Wrath or they won't. Not having fresh servers though might put a bigger cramp in uptake because so many will always be behind the curve and MMO gamers hate that.

Them not adding LFD doesn't personally bug me, but its just dumb for them to say that it would impede 'social interaction' while they also confirm there will be level 70 boosts.....which they also do not want to admit that the TBCC boosts contributed IMMENSELY to the botting problem, or I guess its just pure coincidence that many bots were 58 druids/rogues? I'm still excited for WotLKC but they need to pull back on the greed a bit (which we know they wont).

I can't remember a MMO game where I had to buy or craft equipment to level up. That said old school was harder, these days I would not be shocked if you could wear nothing and still level up quite well.

and if you are level 5 fight mobs that are level 20....if that is still too easy then make it 50.....In general, most gamers take the easiest path of resistance in any MMO.

    Uh.

We have a cross of EverQuest and Vanguard in development ? Its called Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen.

And yes a game has to challenge you to be fun.

If its not challenging enough, then its boring.

If its too challenging and you cannot beat it, its frustrating.

Elden RIng for example has very little appeal to me. Its very twitch based and you are supposed to die a lot. Twitch based bores me and dying a lot is not something that makes me like a game either.

But apparently some people love that A LOT. Good for them.

I think cross-server tech was far more damaging than LFD.

Being matched with the entire pool of players like I'm playing CoD Zombies, where I'll never realistically see them again, specifically in the game world takes away from a community spirit on a server.  I get why they did it, but I dislike it.

I just looked up a definition of care bear "a nice person who is against violence and disputes".

No one at all wants that !

Everyone Wants hard games, much harder than any crap we've been handed in the past 15 years, especially in an mmorpg.

I've been fighting all of you for years now, because your all under the delusion that this is what is wanted all because developers THINK THEY KNOW BETTER.

It's a delusion by developer that think this attract the largest crowed......Well their all wrong, and to prove it "look at us, we have nothing but crap".
Then what happens ?........ you all beleave it !

We need a cross between EQ1, and Vanguard!!..... But Keep Sony, Daybreak games, Visionary Realms out of it because they suck, if you think about it, none of them can program games. (they were the first)

Developers don't know crap, so stop following their lead !

Yeah, that is why full loot pvp games always do better than PvE-focused games. As usual, you throw some clickbait out there, make ridiculous blanket statements like you somehow speak for the entire gaming community and all you do is end up sounding like an ignorant ass.

Game Developers know what sells, which is why the ONLY indy game dev studio that has done better than an established company is CIG. Love them or hate them they make money (I do not want to debate their game here, I know I know).

Developers do know what they are doing Far more than you do, as evidenced by your non-sensical rants) the issue is the focus went from making fun games for players to creating money-making machines where the focus is on business and not the art.

If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.
