Gross, kinda, I mean it's just a cinematic, and not that great-looking either.
I'm a bit worried now.
I get the feeling CDPR didn't really have anything to show for TGA, so they panicked and out-sourced this, and because of that, they have Ciri drinking potions that according to the lore, would either kill her, or seriously fuck her up.
CDPR could have just sat this one out until they had something of actual substance....

Hopefully the game has nothing to do with the later seasons of the TV series, I had not realised they were going to switch the main, this has me rather concerned for 4.
I must be in the minority as these don't hype me up, to me it's just a cinematic trailer. I prefer them to have some actual gameplay shown / mixed in, even just a little.
I thought they would show more when they eventually released some information.
The game was called The Witcher, not A Witcher. I have no interest in playing some other Witcher that's not big G. You can give 100 other Witchers their own games but identifying it in the title would be nice. I won't be playing this game as it's not The Witcher but just A Witcher.
Eh, I played 3 and thought it was more than a bit long winded. I get why people like it, and it's for sure well done... Just overly long. I was ready to move on long before it was finished. I slogged through it all though. Hopefully they can keep this more engaging.
Ciri becomes a major/bigger/more important/central character later in the books so its no surprise it appears she will be the focus of the game.
Witcher 3 spent much of its runtime building her up as a successor protagonist. She obviously earned it, and as much as I love Geralt, he got his ideal resolution. To go back to Geralt would just be undermining Witcher 3's canon ending for the sake of pandering.
Seriously ... wtf? Ciri is not a Witcher. Can't be a witcher. Doesn't need to be a witcher. She can literally jump between "spheres" (universes) and has 0 background, interest or incentive in monster hunting...
This really caught me off guard. I was sure Witcher 4 was a Geralt game... It's just a "teaser" so let's hope for the best.

Someone didn't finish the Witcher 3.
Which one? I remember there were a few. The one I clearly remember is that she became a just empress to Nilfgard.
Anyway if the ending were she learns to be a witcher from Geralt is cannon still can't take the mutagens. The cat eyes she has in the trailer are impossible.
Impossible not only to books cannon, which the games abandon, but to the 3 previous games lore.

Would it make any difference to know that the original design for "The Witcher' was not Geralt but one the player made themselves?
Also, isn't "Witcher" just a name for anyone who has gone through the ceremonies and potions to become a witcher?
In any case, one of the endings I believe is Ciri becoming "The Witcher" as Geralt retires.

I am rusty here but is Ciri really a witcher? My memory might be off here but Geralt is human that underwent the trial of grasses, I dont think Ciri has done so has she?
Geralt has a
full arsenal of power bestowed through the Witcher Trial of Grasses.
He's just better than the average human now—with enhanced strength,
agility, and stamina. He's sort of like Captain America or Deathstroke
if you're feeling edgy. Being the ideal monster hunter makes you
something of a super-soldier. Witchers also age slower.
Ciri is like Geralt daughter and he trained her to fight but she is "just human" even though she has Elder blood.
Also in the trailer it looks like she aged a bit which shouldnt be if she was truly a "witcher". It been awhile but in the books, if I recal right ciri gives up the power to pull from the source and cant do traditional magic and isnt a sorceress.
I like Geralt and kind of hate to see him go but I really like their storyline in that she is Geralt's daughter and I am a ok with seeing her story develop....I just hope they answer some of these pesky questions in Witcher 4.
Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

The amount of whining about this game is insane. People clearly didn't understand the stories of the previous games and that everything Geralt did was for Ciri. He's retired, get over it. If you want more of him replay 1-3. This is Ciri's time to shine. As for her appearance she's older than before, obviously she's not going to look the same. The author stated himself Ciri is now a witcher.

It's the canon ending. And very obviously always has been.

It’s probably not “very obviously “ to people who didn’t play the game or who got a different ending

My only issue with Ciri is they changed her face, and I thought the Witcher 3 version was prettier. If you look at one of the side by side comparison images it's more than just aging. Brow line is different, cheek bones are different, nose is different, jaw line is different. Aging doesn't change the shape of your skull. To be clear it's a minor nitpick. I'm not making a purchase decision off of it. I just find it odd they didn't just reuse the 3d model they already had and add more detail. Oh well.

It is part of the entertainment trend of making women look less beautiful or picking those who are for TV.
