My only issue with Ciri is they changed her face, and I thought the Witcher 3 version was prettier. If you look at one of the side by side comparison images it's more than just aging. Brow line is different, cheek bones are different, nose is different, jaw line is different. Aging doesn't change the shape of your skull. To be clear it's a minor nitpick. I'm not making a purchase decision off of it. I just find it odd they didn't just reuse the 3d model they already had and add more detail. Oh well.
It is part of the entertainment trend of making women look less beautiful or picking those who are for TV.
What is with you people? Ciri is hot. Like, objectively if you people knew someone like her in real life, half of you would desperately simp for her.

I think it's good that they're re-designing stuff like this for the new game rather than just improving.
Witcher games were a good trilogy, but now it's time to build a new game that stands on its own design.
The game was called The Witcher, not A Witcher. I have no interest in playing some other Witcher that's not big G. You can give 100 other Witchers their own games but identifying it in the title would be nice. I won't be playing this game as it's not The Witcher but just A Witcher.
Would it make any difference to know that the original design for "The Witcher' was not Geralt but one the player made themselves?
Also, isn't "Witcher" just a name for anyone who has gone through the ceremonies and potions to become a witcher?
In any case, one of the endings I believe is Ciri becoming "The Witcher" as Geralt retires.
I am rusty here but is Ciri really a witcher? My memory might be off here but Geralt is human that underwent the trial of grasses, I dont think Ciri has done so has she?
Geralt has a
full arsenal of power bestowed through the Witcher Trial of Grasses.
He's just better than the average human now—with enhanced strength,
agility, and stamina. He's sort of like Captain America or Deathstroke
if you're feeling edgy. Being the ideal monster hunter makes you
something of a super-soldier. Witchers also age slower.
Ciri is like Geralt daughter and he trained her to fight but she is "just human" even though she has Elder blood.
Also in the trailer it looks like she aged a bit which shouldnt be if she was truly a "witcher". It been awhile but in the books, if I recal right ciri gives up the power to pull from the source and cant do traditional magic and isnt a sorceress.
I like Geralt and kind of hate to see him go but I really like their storyline in that she is Geralt's daughter and I am a ok with seeing her story develop....I just hope they answer some of these pesky questions in Witcher 4.
I think there's a witcher 3 ending where Ciri says she'll be a witcher.
Yes but they need to do some flashback or show us this in witcher 4 so it's clear for people cause otherwise some will be confused. I am fairly certain in the lore woman cant be witchers cause it kills them while for men only very, very few survive the process.
I mean I know the lore of the book and game may not be the same but I do hope they address how she became a witcher beyond saying welp there was an ending in witcher 3....and actually show her taking the trial of grasses etc etc.

Yes it's a very annoying trend too.....apparently you cant be a strong independent woman if you look too good and you need to be more plain looking otherwise your feeding toxic masculinity or somesuch BS.
I wonder when they will start on the men....cant have too many muscles and be fit cause it might make the couch potatoes feel bad.

I am so happy to see the "good" ending I like in TW3 is canon. Ciri rocks and this is day 1 for me.
I can't believe no one mentions whether they think Ciri will kill the village loudmouth that killed the girl, or whether she'll spare him. And then whether that decision will have unforeseen consequences for future quests. That's what I love about The Witcher, quest choices have consequences.
There are so many interesting games coming out next year. I'm not sure how, or if, I can give each a fair shake.
Doom
Avowed
The Witcher 4 (hahaha j/k - this won't release for a bit, but I wish)
Atomfall
Under a Rock
Judas
TitanQuest 2
Just to name a few of the main titles on my wishlist that I'm keeping an eye on.
Maaaybe Borderlands 4. I'll see if they learned anything at all from BL3 and will do better.

Except she is attractive in that trailer. She's hot af!

I wouldn't. Not because either version isn't pretty or simp worthy, but because I'm 51 and she looks young enough to be my daughter. I'm very happily married for almost 20 years now and I save any simping for my wife. I know this may blow your mind but as you age your taste in what you find attractive matures with you. Women don't even start to become attractive to me until they're in their 40's. Even 30 year olds look like kids to me, and it's just weird for me to think about them in a sexual way. Now this may also shock you but I did actually used to be 20-something and I know and understand exactly what they find attractive. I can look at a 20-30 female and make a call about which is prettier and why without being physically attracted to either. These days I'm more attracted to intelligent women who are fun to be around, have their shit together financially, and have a minimum of drama. I'll take that all day over a pretty face that's on the front end of an emotional train wreck.
Also to the comment about being afraid of women who are strong or whatever. Please. My wife is a high level manager at her place of business and balances multi-million dollar projects. My boss at work is a woman and is a vice president at the company. I train jiujitsu and roll with female black belts. I'm around powerful women both physically and mentally all the time and I am not afraid of them or intimidated by them. Rather, I partner with all of them to help them be even more successful. It's called making life about something other than identity politics. When you're confident in yourself and your own achievements you have the capacity to help others be successful, even more successful than you, and not get wrapped around the axel of jealousy and thinking you deserve more because reasons. You should look into it. It's very liberating.
Just because I point out that one version of Ciri is in my opinion prettier than another doesn't mean there some hidden agenda behind that statement other than wondering why they didn't just start from the 3D model they already had instead of making a new one. It really is that simple.

Hmmm I’m going to play the “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” card there.
If the nexus mod site is any indication then there are a contingent of people who really like glamour model women which is a bit gross to me.
Also, I don’t recall any game where a main character kept the exact same looks.
Even geralt is slightly different between games.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

It's great you think she is I find her oky but she is looking a little worn down imo.
What I think you need to consider is she doesnt look as "good or hot" as she did previously. That what I am basing my thought of she doesnt look as good as she used too. Also attractiveness is subjective.
I am just happy she is not Kay Vess levels of plain jane but I can see how some people feel she has been uglified.
I would like to point out I am in the same boat as Angrakhan in that I am older and married so feel about the same as he does. In fact I do not like the botox or facelift look many younger women do to themselves...its like if I wanted to hump a plastic barbie I would just go buy one.
Luckily I am happily married and my wife still enjoys it when I make her feel like a woman! Yes that was a shania twain reference.
Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
Cinematic models often differ from their in-game counterparts, so we need to see in-game footage. But Geralt's design changed too from Witcher 1 to Witcher 3, so character design isn't always going to be 1:1 between games. There doesn't really need to be an explanation behind it. It could be a practically thing or going for a certain vibe. But I agree that ideally it should be as close as possible.
I was watching some youtube vids and some gym ones as I go to the gym 3 times a week and just realized...... I think Ciri while she does look older I feel she also looks like she was roided up or on test and that prob what lots of peeps are picking up on without realizing it.

Seriously ... wtf? Ciri is not a Witcher. Can't be a witcher. Doesn't need to be a witcher. She can literally jump between "spheres" (universes) and has 0 background, interest or incentive in monster hunting...
This really caught me off guard. I was sure Witcher 4 was a Geralt game... It's just a "teaser" so let's hope for the best.
Someone didn't finish the Witcher 3.
That is but one of three possible endings. The new game could have been "Empress Ciri", but anything where the title showed this was not Geralt would have been fine by me. "Ciri The Witcher", The Witcher: Ciri", anything like that.
I am just an old woman so what do I know but I thought she looked perfect for her role. She's nice looking and best of all she looks capable. She is no centerfold but hell I wouldn't want some busty girl trying to kill that thing.

We have just been comparing what she looked like before and now, not demanding that she becomes a centrefold. Personally I think we do need to see more in game footage to be sure of how much change there has been. We are not asking for The Witcher: Playboy Edition.

I will accept what some of the others are saying though, it is just a trailer, we need to see more in game footage to be sure.
At least you practice truth in advertising...
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
Wasn't sure about the oxy part of that....
