Quests haven't given me money at all, i had to buy a horse to go back and fourth to places delivering stuff and all i got was experience. I lost 50 silver from all the horse rides!

aside from kill tasks, just keep hunting and group with people. Chances someone will give you some money along the line, or even a guild invite which you can usually bum some gold from. Otherwise don't worry about it. Money isn't an issue in this game. You'll get the items you need from drops and from selling loot. In the beginning it's annoying to not make much, but in the end you'll have way more than you need. I'm running around with a 48 right now that has 6pp on him.
Which brings me to my next point. Don't craft for money. Sell the crafters SEALS! When you start hunting in Darkness Falls, you collect seals (Sapphire, Emerald, and Diamond). Crafters buy these so they can salvage them into raw materials. Seals is the best way to make money in this game.
But then the question is, why do you need that much money? I don't even need half of what I have...I just hoard for the sake of hoarding. You'll spend most of your time with only a couple hundred gold, but that's plenty.
Looks like somebody needs to donate a little money to the "rathma needs money real bad" foundation . I already am in a guild though called blood of albion. But it's not that great, theres only like level 16's in there.
________________________________ Peter : "Why did all the dinosaurs become extinct?" Teacher: "Because you touch yourself at night."
Having only level 16's in there is a bonus if you ask me. Getting into an established "uber" guild might backfire on you, here's why. Let's say you join the Almighty Gods of Albion" (made up name) and they have 50 level 50's in there. Hmm lets see, will they group with you? Of coarse not, will they powerlevel you? Possibly but you will miss out on the game, the quests, the struggle to get gear, the struggle to LEARN how you need to play your character in certain situations and so on.
Let's say the guild you joined is all around your same level (if they are not you can catch up quickly) then you will learn all those things, PLUS undoubtedly form a bond with them and you will see that when you hit lvl 50ish ( or even in the 30+ area) trust me you will see it. You will have true friends in the game (can that really be said about a online game? ) that you can actually depend on, and you will have the self satisfied fulfillment that you helped create that guild from lowly nothing to a powerhouse on the fields of battle!
Theres not many people at all in the guild. Maybe there will be four people online and that's it. Plus, they never level with me and i have to clue where to fight for a level 6.

isnt that when u start doin soggy skeletons? hehe, well i always start in gothwaite harbor (shrouded isles), and thats what u fight there.

Honestly it sounds like that guild sucks. It isn't very fun to be in a guild with nothing but high levels, but it's nice to have them there to guide you when you need it. Stick with that guild, but if you find a better guild, think about joining them.
As for hunting...The Glass Isle..the SI Expansion island is a GREAT place to hunt until level 10 when you can hit Tomb of Mithra. Go to The Glass Isle, flag LFG and try and find people your level to group with. /who 6 will help...or /who 7, /who 5. You can also find groups in Camelot Hills, but Glass Isle is much more fun, and faster.
That's another thing. When you're looking for a guild, look for a diverse level range. Lowbies, and high levels alike. Then there's people to group with and people who know the game much better to help you when you need it. It helps to search on the Herald for guilds so then you can check out their websites and ask for an invite, etc. Check out www.camelotherald.com which is a staple website for DAoC players anyway. On the bottom right click on your server, click on Alliance, click on the albion guild, then check out all the guilds in that alliance. That's an easy way to see what's out there and possibly find a guild just right for you. Make sure to check out their websites. Some guilds are more relaxed than others.
alot of time guilds that have alot of lvl 50's also have alot of there alts, so u can lvl with there alts.

wow dude, you need to do a little research on the game before you start playing it, eh?
If you bought the Gold Version it comes with the original and Shrouded Isles. You'll also know cuz it says on the splash screen while loading, and also when you are selecting a character, you have the option of starting in Caer Gothwaite. The Glass Isle is the Albion Shrouded Isles main zone which low level characters can start in. You can also get there by portal from the Albion mainland. Camelot Hills is a zone to the east of Camelot itself. If you're running around in albion and you haven't heard of these places, then you need to stop posting and LOOK IT UP! :P
If you don't have Shrouded Isles then you need to get it or your at a severe disadvantage. But in the meantime, you can hunt in Camelot Hills. Tomb of Mithra, if you look on the maps at www.camelotherald.com, is in Camelot Hills to the far east. It's near the Pryweden Keep Bridge.
Originally posted by Disastorm i know what the gold version is, i was asking the other guy how he bought daoc for 40 dollars when the gold version is only 20.
I know :P I was trying to explain to him if he has SI or not. Cuz he says he wasn't sure. So I said if he bought the Gold Edition it came with SI.
yes that is the only portal. Each realm only has one portal leading to SI..however, if your guild house (in the housing zone) has an SI teleporter, you can use that to get there. Honestly though, it's faster to go to the Marsh and pass through the portal.
Yes, i checked out SI and went through the portal. All i saw was high levels there not wanting to talk to me. So i went back to PWB and fought around mithra tomb like i always do. I got a level 10 on Merlin in albion realm if anyone wants to play with me

There is no mining in DAoC.
If you want a crafting game then SWG is the best. You get harvestors and all that to mine with. Also a player driven economy.
DAoC has good final results from the crafting but the system itself is very boring and requires loads of moneyto progress.
I honestly will suggest that you do crafting as an after thought if you play DAoC.
Since you need to purchase the metals and such to craft with you will find that without hunting you will not progress nowhere in crafting.
Add to fact many masters exist as it is ,I think your best bet for gold is actually hunting stuff.
The game has lots to offer but crafting is not one of its strong points.Just go and hunt and quest and kill those hibs!

There is a portal that takes you to SI.
Try and form groups and go hunting. Also chat with people. There are loads of 50s around with alt chars that will be happy to at least buff you up.
