This game stinks
Honestly, i cant see how anyone playing this game has a healthy social life. You need to devote 90% of your spare time to compete with other players, horrible grindfest. The character creation is absolutely laughable, you have no choice but to look like an anime character. Also, there are only 3 faces and 3 hairstyles. This one is a stinker..

Most people play on hacked private servers. Where you get 20x Xp and 30x Gold per drop or so.
Yes i tried that myself and i must say, it was somewhat enjoyable, only i couldnt stand the horrible korean influenced art anymore.
I still dont understand why someone would play this on the original servers though.

You sure you did smart in that? Last time I visited a website that had adresses to private servers my computer was infected with 2 login stealing viruses.
Did you even try playing the game past lvl20, let alone past lvl52 in a pvp clan?
I don't think your opinion on this game deserves much merit if you were judging it as early as in character selection.

100% agree with you. This game is not for the weak of heart. You cant max out your toon in a month...that being said....the guy or girl should stick with his care bear WoW account and stay away from a real mans game.

How was i being antifeminist?????? I never said anything about women. Get off it already. Life is full of sterotypical people.....if you are upset that i called L2 a real mans game, well too bad..last i checked this was still America and im not a chick so i cant speak from their point of view. Stop being so frickin dramatic....the world has too many drama-queens already.

Yes, it takes long to lvl in this game.
Would I want it any differently? No.
I plan to play this game for a long time. In fact, that's why I even bother playing, because I know, even after a year or two, I'll still have ingame goals to strive for.

I only play 3-4 hours a day and It took me less then a week to get to lvl 20. A moderate amount of time will make you money in this game.....

Eh, 3-4 hours a day is ALOT.. anything above an hour a day is too much.

Iam on TS at least 15 hours a week with 50 or 60 + on at times
this game is meant to take long ...you think people with 7 hours a week will show up for a seige ?

I love L2, I've been playing for a couple weeks now and I'm level 31. Yes, the grind is getting worse, but who cares. I can devote a lot of my time to it and I'm having fun doing so
Ok, well... first off, if you've read any of the reveiws of this game you would have been aware of it's "peculiarities"
There are more than 3 faces/hairstyles. Granted, character creation is limited, yes... but in some cases you do have 6 or 7 choices. Not alot but that is about double what you are stating.
Define healthy social life? I have a fairly high lvl character and have many friends, go out, etc... I do put in about 3 hours a day... less on some.. more on others. So yes... it is a very slow grind but you can have girlfriends, boyfriends, friend friends, movies, parties etc.
There are a lot of very fun things to do in this game... it is just a game with a very limited appeal. It is no WoW or EQ2. It is based on pvp and sieges. And essentially politics of each server.
I do know a lot of people who left the game and have now come back because of what this game has to offer... in addition, there are people who "make their own fun" and they don't worry about lvls... they just group, some roleplay, and they try their hands at the sieges when they come around.
Granted, it's a very competitive game so yes... higher lvled characters do better of course.
Whenever I see someone in the store pick the game up I usually give him/her a rundown of the game (an honest one) and tell them to read some reviews before they buy it.
In defense of the "bad" reviews, this game has changed quite a bit since most/all of the reviews were made. Leveling is a lot easier in the lower lvls now. Still it does take a bit at the higher lvls.
However.. .look at all the lvl 60 players in WoW who are complaining that they maxed out their character and now they have nothing to do? In this game the goals are epic. IT is more like cultivating a character than "lvling" a character.
And, in the end.... it might not be for you... still doesn't mean the game is bad... just bad for you.
(oh, and I love the anime inspired artwork.. same with guildwars... it's gotten to the point that I can't stand games that don't have extremely interesting art design... I find the art design in this game and GW the best I've seen ... well.. WoW has great art design but I just don't like that style.. so.. if you don't like anime inspired worlds then this isn't for you.)

As far as the "casual game" goes, I think Lin2 is HIGHLY more casual than games like FFXI... I even consider it more casual than WoW. My definition of casual is not exactly how often you play, but how long your play times are... In Lin2, you can solo pretty much anywhere, or pick up a group fairly quickly. In WoW (end-game, mind you), you have to wait a while for a group and then do an hour- or two hour-long instance.
I like Lin2 because I can hop on WHENEVER I have free time and put some exp on my char... I don't have to devote a block of hours into leveling.

you know the big boss -the land dragon Antharas? well a high lvl group (not 7 or 8..but a full hall of high lvl players) were trying to kill him ,they needed 5 hours !
that was fun.Anyway there are many other things to do ...Because don't forget that this is a MMORPG and MMORPGs are not only quests and killing monsters- if you want that,then play ..i don't know Diablo or something.You can get friends and more in a game like that.

My schoolmate is playing WoW and he said that he doesn't need 5 hours to kill Ragnaros with his group-which is 10x smaller then the group in L2.
Anyway L2 got raide monsters which are very very strong-actualy the monster with the lowest lvl ,can be hardly killed if it's a raide boss.
The point of MMORPGs IS to lvl slow .MMORPGs are actualy a virtual life which you have to live atleaste(or around) 1 day per week and not a game that can easy be owned in 1 week..actualy i read,that with a bot or macros or i don't know what, you can get to lvl 60 in WoW in 1 day and a half
Lineage 2 is a game which you have to enjoy..not only play.
Ok i admit,sometimes there are minutes in which i'm wandering,why is the game exp so slow etc.,but after that i remember that i'm happy ,because now i'm a high lvl which -and noobs that starts playing will not reach me in 1 day.
Many says that there are not many quests -but the thing is,that you can do your own quests.I remember when me and a group tried to pass trough all ants in the antnest without attacking them(sleep,dryad root,slow,fear..etc)
There are cases that they actualy get married after they met in in MMORPGs-i mean in real life
However !! I played many MMORPGs and i can say that L2 IS a great MMORPG and with every Cronicle that it gets, it's becoming greater and greater.
But Ragnaros is much more of a necessity than Antharas. It drops specific armor, and people do that raid many times compared to Antharas. Antharas is meant more for celebration... it's not done often at all. Also, it's unlike endgame in WoW where the only thing left for you to do are these long instances... You can solo areas or duo/small group places.
I'm just saying my experiences... When I played Lin2, I could log on at any time of the day and hunt for 5 minutes or 5 hours... it would be a continuous grind. But in WoW, I have to spend at least 30 minutes or so to get anywhere, and if I have a bad run of something, it ruins the whole day.
God, all this talk makes me want to go back to Lin2 so bad...

No one in L2NA has ever atempted to kill Antharas....
And probably won't try to.
i would be all for the slow char progression in a game that has a bit more to it.

and honestly lineage the bloodpledge (lin 1) is alot better.
Well.. keep in mind that L1 has been around a lot longer than L2. So it has had time to grow and mature and add a significant amount of content.
L2 is only on Chronicle 3. C4 will be here relatively soon (it goes on the korean test servers sometime on September 21)
Antharas has not been taken down (or tried) yet. In C4 they are adding another Epic Dragon...
These are beyond Raid Bosses.... as one poster put it.. they are celebrations. You just don't go waltzing into these things. Heck, a player needs to complete a quest first before they can even enter the inner lair.
And yes... it's possible that it will be a long time before they are attempted. It took a lot of organizationi on the Korean server that took it down.. unfortunatley... we westerners don't seem to have that and even if we could get it together, there are so many people who hate each other that I wonder if we could get a group together to do it.
But that is the idea I suppose... Heck... we just took down the largest castle on Hindemith a little while ago (from npc rule which means that players can now siege each other to take/hold it).
L2 is an interesting game but it is not an easy game and certainly not for everyone. It does not stink. However... if your idea of a good time is Sims online, EQ2 or WoW then you might not like L2 since it's gameplay is just "different".
The game really is about the interaction of the players. The mobs are just their for lvling.
Look at the L2 server forums. They are discussions on which clans hate each other, want to "off" each other... who ganked, scammed who, who is sieging who, etc.
It's very exciting in some ways.

I personally can't wait to see all of the dragons added to Lineage II... As someone who played Lin1 since beta up until about a year ago, I want to see some of these old tyrants brought to "real life."
Especially Fafurion... can't wait to see what they do with him. He was an under-water dragon.

This game has its fun points.
I played for 6 months and jumped servers midway through because I got scammed out of all my goods by my clan leader on Seighardt...
So I went to Hindemith and made level 44 with my prophet.
This game and I had a love hate relationship. Ended in Hate.
But stop lying, you can't possibly be a casual player and get to 20 in a week or two.
Look at the exp tables yourself, check around, see how long it takes to solo one stone golem with a mage on the human island working from level 1-20... Or any where you hunt.
I had surgery and got this game before hand so I would have something to do while I healed.
I played more then 18 hours in a day and played every day with nothing else to do...
still took months to get to level 44 with my prophet, and healers level fast because they are party players and parties get more exp.
I spent 25-35 in level 1 cruma and that took less time then 1-20, but I was only gaining 1 1/2 levels a day playing about 14-18 hours of solid exp.
For you who say the real game doesn't start till you're 50 or higher....
So the real game doesn't start till you've played for months?
Sorry I think most people want a game that starts ... now.
