First, I will have to agree that playing a game for more than 12 hours straight isn't good for your health. I admit sometimes on a weekend this will happen, but this has only happened about 8 times since I had this game, which is like for 9 months or something, so that is roughly 1 time a month I do this. But I don't play everyday, sometimes only once or twice a week.

So with that said, there is no reason to play this game for that long. Sure I have been playing this game for a long time, and should be higher level than I am compaired to others, but I am not that hardcore. I don't understand how people say a game can only be for hardcore gamers, Lineage 2 is so flexable and open that it can be for any gamer, that has a little ambition and some imagination (because there are no quests to hold your hands through the levels).

But I have to say, I LOVE this game! This was my first MMO ever, and I have tried a few others but I wasn't drawn into it as much. I love the graphics, music, I have RL friends that play, and did I mention I LOVE the graphics. I am really into this game, I have read the lore, about all the races and classes, troll the forums and stay involved with the comunity...for me it is something that I really enjoy in my spare time...sometimes I even play when I don't have spare time and I should be doing something else like studying, which I admit is a bit of a problem.

I played WoW, and found the community very immature...and all and all It was roughly the same playstyle just a little easier to level and get items, with graphics that weren't to my likeing. So I didn't continue to play it. Probally the only other MMO I would give a try that is out on the market is Guild Wars, but that isn't technically an MMO, and I really like the whole "seamless" world idea of Lineage 2.

Overall, I really like the point and click of this mmo. I am not playing a FPS so I don't need to jump and strafe and whatnot. Most RPGs that I have played have point and click..such as, Neverwinter Nights. I also use to play quite a bit of RTS so I am use to the point and click movement there also. For some it may take some getting use to, but IMO it is better esspecially for PvP.

Also in this game you have to have thick skin. You also can't talk smack to someone without being able to back yourself up in PvP. I have been PKed about 3 times since I have played. If you play with another character, a PKer probally won't PK you...but all you have to do is be careful in the game. Hell I even play on the server that is supposed to be the most PK heavy, Kain, and I don't find it much of a problem.

Overall, this game has too much of a bad reputation. I find it very competitive with the current MMOs on the market. I am not saying the game is perfect, I am saying it is very good. I mean many things destroy the game such as Botters and Ebayers (these are in most MMOs anyway), but one thing that I think hurts it the most is Private Servers. I think if they made an "easy" offical server with increased drop rates, and XP...NCsoft NA would get many subscribers back...because those who want to experience the game at a faster rate would be able to do so.

I would have to say that I am in the same "boat" that Jukan is.

This was essentially my "first" MMO. I came from a long playing "jag" of Morrowind. Sort of wanted what Morrowind had but with people to interact with.

Didn't quite get that with L2 but that is to be expected.

I actually tried Shadowbane first but just couldn't get into it... hated the graphics and for some reason felt the whole experience awkward.

After playing L2 for a bit I then tried others on the market but none of them could compare...

WoW was extremely fun but because of the graphics (much too cartoony) I couldn't take my character seriously... when I battel a monster I want it to be a monster... not Huckleberry Hound.

Ryzohm (or however you spell it) was fun but I kept getting disconnected (which seems to be a problem for some people) so nutz to that.

And as Jukan stated... Guild Wars is a viable option but the whole instanced world continues to be a problem.

And yes... you have to have a thick skin with L2. Also... if you don't have a lot of time then you have to play to just have "fun". Otherwise you will get frustrated because you can't compete with other players.

And I guess... in the end.. that is what it is important.

I agree with you.. the level upgrade system is stinks....unbearably slow.....

but I've enjoy playing L2 on some private severs already....It feels so cool

with the fast pace and fabulous 3D effects....It's still a great game...just the way that official server runs is sucks

I must confess I have a life. Family man (wife/kids) with a full time code monkey job. I'm ~lvl70, don't ebay, don't share accounts, and don't bot. To play this game I have sacrificed only 1 thing.. sleep. Great game, pretty sure I'm here for the duration... C12..
